A letter from our Library Director
I would like to announce the promotion of Xibe Solis to Assistant Director. Xibe has worked in libraries
for over fifteen years, is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is dedicated to providing innovative services
focused on the unique needs of the community. Her leadership positions in Brentwood Public Library’s
Career Development Center, Circulation, and Technical Services departments have provided her with a
broad understanding of library systems and management.
I am proud to acknowledge Mona Pierre-Louis, a Brentwood Public Library employee for over twenty
years, for her dedication to the library and the community. Mona was recognized by Senator Tom Croci
for her volunteer efforts at this year’s Black History Month awards.
Finally, construction continues in the local history room. Our target date for reopening the room is set for
this summer. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring enhanced history and genealogy services to
our patrons.

Live tutoring help is available online every day from
2:00-11:00 p.m. in the library and from your home
computer. Students in grades K-12 can connect
with a live tutor for help in math, science, social
studies, and English. Spanish speaking tutors are

Certification helps participants recognize

provides an overview of organic vegetable gardening techniques.
It addresses how to plan and plant a vegetable garden for
maximum productivity and how to guard your crops against weeds

NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN TRIP
Join us for a wonderful trip to the New York
Botanical Garden. We will enjoy a tour of
their special Frida Kahlo exhibit as well as
access to their 250 acres of gardens and
displays. You must have a Brentwood Public

is $40, payable in cash. Tickets are limited

photographer John Spoltore for a talk about the “big four” camera
settings – white balance, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.

disability or confinement at home because of prolonged illness,
extended convalescence, or advanced age are eligible to join this
program. In order to receive mail delivery service, the patron will

healthcare provider. If the application is approved, books will be
mailed to the patron’s residence and mailed back to the library by
the patron. Postage will be paid both ways by the library.
