myCSULA Identity is the foundation for a
new generation of information access,
self-services, campus communications
and student and faculty networking.
Working in conjunction with the
newly-enhanced myCSULA Portal, you
will be able to conveniently access many
campus resources through the portal
without the need for multiple user IDs,
passwords and sign-ons. Even passwords
can be changed online.
The myCSULA Identity self-service web site
provides a fast, secure and convenient way to
activate and manage your myCSULA Identity
account.

THE myCSULA PORTAL
AN ENHANCED GATEWAY THAT
CONNECTS CAL STATE L.A. USERS TO
MULTIPLE CAMPUS RESOURCES
THROUGH A SINGLE INTERFACE.
CURRENT RESOURCES INCLUDE:
• CAMPUS E-MAIL
• CAMPUS ADMINISTRATION SYSTEMS
• LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS,
INCLUDING BLACKBOARD/WEBCT/
MOODLE
• CAMPUS NEWS AND INFORMATION
• myCSULA COMMUNITY, A NEW WAY
TO CONNECT FRIENDS, FACULTY
AND STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY
OFFICES AND STUDENT GROUPS.
1) Visit https://mycsula.calstatela.edu
2) Enter your myCSULA Identity user ID
in the User Name field.
3) Enter your myCSULA Identity
password in the Password field.
4) Click the Login button.
5) Depending on your web browser
settings, a Security Warning display box
may appear. For full portal functionality,
select the option that allows both secure
and non-secure content to be displayed.
Note:
Before using the myCSULA Portal, you
must first activate your myCSULA Identity
account. To activate your account, go to
https://id.calstatela.edu.
NAVIGATING THE
myCSULA PORTAL
BANNER:
Located at the top of each page, the left
side of the banner provides shortcut icons
to My Messages, Today’s Events, My
Communities and Friend Requests.
The right side of the banner contains:
o The Menu link providing access to advanced
portal features.
o The Sign Out link.
NAVIGATION MENU:
Located left of the portal screen, this menu
contains links to various University resources. Each
navigation link expands to reveal additional links
grouped by topic. Topics include:
o QuickLaunch – Quick access to e-mail, GET,
Blackboard/WebCT/ Moodle.
o Student Services – Available only to students,
direct links to the Office of Admissions and
Recruitment, Center for Student Financial Aid,
Student Health Center, Housing Services and
more.
o Library – University Library resources.
o News – Up-to-date campus events and news.
o Campus Life – Food court hours, Cal State
L.A. tweets, Athletics.
o Resources – Parking information, campus
wireless hot spots, the University Bookstore,
as well as academic and technology
resources.
o Feedback – Submit comments and
suggestions regarding the myCSULA
Portal.
CONTENT PANELS:
Adjacent to these icons are three links:
o myCSULA Home – link to the portal
home page.
o Help – link to video tutorials and other
portal training resources.
o Cal State L.A. Home – link to the Cal
State L.A. home page.
o The center content panel displays the
My Messages and University
Announcements. This panel changes
based on content selected in the
navigation menu.
o The right content panel displays the
campus’s Top Stories and Polls.

ACTIVATING your
ACCOUNT
1) Visit the myCSULA Identity
web site:
https://id.calstatela.edu
2) Click the I want to activate my
student account link in the
upper-right corner of the page
3) Follow the on-screen instructions
CHANGING your
PASSWORD
1) Visit the myCSULA Identity
login web page at
https://id.calstatela.edu/user/
login.jsp
2) Enter your user ID and password
in the corresponding fields, then
click the Log In button.
3) Click the I want to change my
password link.
4) Enter your new password in the
Password and Confirm
Password fields, then click the
Save button.
5) Enter your current password in
the Password field, then click on
the OK button.
6) Click the OK button to complete
the process.

SECURITY QUESTIONS
OR ANSWERS
1) Visit the myCSULA Identity
login web page at
https://id.calstatela.edu/user/
login.jsp
2) Enter your user ID and
password in the
corresponding fields, then
click the Log In button.
3) Click the I want to change
my security questions link.
4) Make the desired changes,
then click the Save button.

myCSULA IDENTITY
LOOKING UP your USER ID
1) Visit the myCSULA Identity login web page at:
https://id.calstatela.edu/user/login.jsp
2) Click the Forgot User ID link.
3) Enter your nine-digit Campus Identification Number (CIN) in the
CIN field and click the Display User ID button.
4) Answer all three security questions, and click the Display User ID
button. Your user ID displays below the security questions.
5) Click the Return to Main Menu button.
RESETTING your PASSWORD
1) Visit the myCSULA Identity login web page at:
https://id.calstatela.edu/user/login.jsp
2) Enter your user ID in the User ID field (leave the Password field
empty), then click the Forgot Password link.
3) Answer all three security questions and click the Login button.
4) Enter your new password in the Password and Confirm
Password fields, then click the Change Password button.
5) Click the OK button to complete the process.
