www.harrowfair.com PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff it gives me great pleasure to Welcome you to our 162nd Harrow Fair where you will see Agriculture on Display. Our theme this year is “FARMERS BOUNTY”. Harrow Fair offers a place for friends and neighbours both rural and urban to gather. Some will come to view the displays and exhibits while others will experience the fun and satisfaction of participation. 4-H members will prepare for their Achievement Days and other exhibitors will enjoy the competitions with their animals, produce, commercial features, canning and baking, flowers, quilts and needle arts, and crafts. Plans are underway to build a Shade Shelter for the spectators who like to watch the animal shows and auction. The parade route has been changed this year. Please see the changes on the map inside this book on page 56. The starting time will remain the same 11:30 AM A big Thank You goes out to all the exhibitors, sponsors, judges and the community for your continuous support. Also to the hardworking committee members and many volunteers, whose continued help makes Harrow Fair one of the BEST in Ontario. Combining influences like Randy Travis and Mark Chesnutt, with those of James Taylor and Joe Cocker, Bradley’s style in both his songwriting and vocals are all his own. Bradley grew up in the fishing town of Wheatley, Ontario – population 1600. His small town roots and way of life paved the way for his musical style from a very early age. “I can remember when I was about 9 years old. I was upstairs in my parents’ old home. The grates for the ductwork were my connection to the adults downstairs. I would lie on the floor in my room and listen to the country music my parents and their friends would have playing. To this day, Randy Travis’ “Look Heart, No Hands” still takes me back to that room, and how simple life was. That’s why I love music.” “My mother, along with most of her side of the family, is also a huge influence. She and my grandparents continue to play in a gospel band at our hometown Baptist Church. I believe my singing debut, in front of an audience anyway, was in that church along side their band. I was about 18 or 19 at the time. I had recently learned to play acoustic guitar, but always loved to sing, so when the opportunity arose, I took it. I loved the feel of singing live, and couldn’t wait to do it again.” While attending the University of Waterloo he found himself sitting in with many friends’ bands and eventually gigging at his own. Now residing in Chatham-Kent County and working as a paramedic, Ryan has also spent the last number of years playing local clubs and writing songs. “A soulful and somewhat bluesy vocal delivery is something that has come natural to me. Lyrics need to be conveyed, and stories need to be told, but without passion from the singer, I feel a song can’t be convincing.” With belief in his craft and an undeniable passion for music, Ryan made the decision to take a leap of faith and head down to Nashville to record demos of songs he’d written and let fate do the rest. His debut single “Next Weekend” dropped at radio in May 2014, and received airplay across Canada. His second release “Wish You Could’ve Seen Your Face” resonated well with programming directors across the country. Ryan Bradley is currently working towards finishing on his debut EP and continuing to make his mark on Canadian country music. His latest release “Kissed Me Back” dropped in January and was co-written by Dierks Bentley. Ryan Bradley Thursday Sept 1st at 8:00 pm Dale Butler is a singersongwriter, guitarist, and a storyteller, who gives enthusiastic performances. Based in Leamington, Ontario Dale is popular and well known in the area, performing a variety of music appealing to all ages. He blends Folk/ Country/Bluegrass & Gospel and performs as a soloist, duo with wife Judy and with his 5pc band, “ Dale Butler & Friends.” A full time musician, Dale plays at senior homes, church fundraising concerts, fairs, festivals and house concerts. Dale founded and hosts “The Last Friday Coffee House” in Leamington and has 6 CDs of original music. 2014 -15 saw Dale share the stage with Valdy & J.P.Cormier & Ron Hynes at the Kingsville Folk Music Festival. Dale Butler Sunday, Sep 4 at 1:00 pm Page 12 www.harrowfair.com Cold Creek County Friday, September 2nd at 8:00 pm Cold Creek County come by their name naturally. Cold Creek, after all, runs through the rolling hills, apple orchards and villages in central Ontario near locations the band members call home. Nestled in the rural in-betweens of Peterborough and Belleville, Ontario, (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) calls Brighton, population 4,800, home. Drummer is from nearby Hastings and its 1,200 population. Josh Lester (guitar/vocals) and (bass/vocals), the sons of bluegrass master Emory Lester, hail from the outskirts of Frankford, population 2,500. Lead guitarist, the relative city slicker in the group, is originally from Stratford, Ontario, population 30,000. Band members literally cross Cold Creek to get to each other’s homes. “I’m a small town guy and I love it,” says Oliver. “Because I’ve been here so much and my community has been so supportive, everyone is loving and small towns have that I’ve-got-your-back vibe no matter what.” “Our Town”, the first single from the band’s debut release, is a rousing singalong that celebrates what happens when everyone in town lets loose on Friday night. “Our Town”, Cold Creek County’s debut single was produced by Scott Cooke (Chase Rice, assistant engineer on Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Dallas Smith) and co –produced by Oliver, who also comanages the band with Chief, the titular head of Chief Music (Florida-Georgia Line, Dallas Smith, Chris Lane and Joey Moi). “Til The Wheels Come Off”, the second single from the band’s debut release, is a country anthem that all country fans can belt out whether in their truck or at their concert. “Til The Wheels Come Off”, Cold Creek County’s second single was produced by Scott Cooke (Chase Rice, assistant engineer on Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Dallas Smith) and co –produced by Oliver. Chief believes Cold Creek County, who’ve already opened for the likes of Tim Hicks, Kira Isabella, Travis Tritt and Jason Blain in their short time together, have what it takes to touch country fans, be they from small towns or big cities. “Cold Creek County is a band that has all the pieces to the puzzle to succeed,” he says. “They’re great people with a great drive. They can play, sing and write music that is current and relevant to the country world and their dedication to putting on an amazing live show will surely transform into a large fan base that will follow and love this band.” Cold Creek County deliver a powerful, dynamic sound that’s already captured a sizeable fan base. Being heavily influenced by Country and Rock, the band brings both worlds together in a way that’s sure to get your feet stomping. Cold Creek County spent 2014 honing their sound and performances winning at the 2014 Wire Awards and opening for country stars including Dallas Smith, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella and Jason Blain. “It’s our roots,” says lead singer Brandon Scott. “We grew up with rock and country.” To become one of their faithful followers head on over to ColdCreekCounty.com www.harrowfair.com Saturday Sept 3rd at 8:00 pm Page 13 From the stage and silver screen to behind the scenes, Wes Mack is undeniably the entertainment industry’s Jack-ofall-trades – between numerous television roles, impassioned songwriting, matchless vocals and a seat in the Director’s chair (Mack self-directed the videos for “Before You Drive Me Crazy”, “Duet” & “Our Soundtrack”), his charm and star quality are irrefutable. Following a landmark year in 2013 with back-toback radio hits, being named the inaugural winner of the CCMA’s Discovery Program and besting 10,000 hopefuls across the globe to be named the Grand Prize winner of the prestigious Unsigned Only Music Competition, Mack spent much of 2014 in studio recording his major label debut in strategic partnership with Universal Music Canada and Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, it’s no surprise that Mack fell in love with a genre that celebrates growing up in small towns, living life to the fullest and sharing emotional touchstones with real-life sentiment through storytelling. After moving to Vancouver at the age of 18, Mack teamed up with a number of acclaimed bands, most notably the 2011 Fox Seeds winners Head of the Herd, playing sold out shows with Guns N Roses, Alice in Chains, The Tea Party, The Trews and The Sheepdogs. Finding his country voice, Mack stepped out on his own and took the world of country music by storm, playing to sold-out crowds alongside Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line and Miranda Lambert. He sang his way into fan’s hearts, homes and barn parties with “Our Soundtrack” and the infectious, “Duet” (featuring Carly McKillip of One More Girl), which peaked at Number 9 on the Country Radio Chart. Catching the eye of some of the music industry’s biggest tastemakers, Mack recently found himself the proud recipient of three 2014 CCMA Nominations, including Rising Star, Video Director of the Year (for One More Girl’s “Love Like Mine”), and CMT Video of the Year. Additionally, he was nominated for two BCCMA awards including the Ray McAuley Horizion Award and Video Director of the Year. Kicking off 2015, Wes released the lead single from his major label debut, “Before You Drive Me Crazy”. The song debuted on the iTunes Canada Top 10 country chart and was met with overwhelming support from Canadian Country radio making this Wes’s second Top 10 hit. Leading into the release of his major label debut album Edge Of The Storm, available September 4, Wes’s released his second single, “The Way you Let Me Down” to radio and digital retailers where it is currently climbing the charts. In advance of Edge OF The Storm’s release, Wes has spent much of this summer touring Canada with Shania Twain and will rejoin her for more dates this fall. He can also be found performing at many summer festivals across the country. As an actor, Mack has built an impressive resume that includes four CW shows; The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Smallville and The 100 and his recurring role in the CBC drama Heartland, where he plays up-and-coming country musician Austin Mars. With his fun and genuine spirit, there’s no doubt Mack’s music resonates with 20-somethings and young-at-hearts alike.
