James “Jim” Stadler Stadler is a Member of Clark Hill’s Labor & Employment practice group in Grand Rapids, MI. He represents private and public sector management interests in labor and employment relations matters including: collective bargaining negotiations, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, strikes, lockouts, civil rights charges, FMLA compliance and disputes, wage and hour compliance and investigations, WARN compliance, employment terminations, workforce reductions, employment policies, practices and procedures and other labor and employment-related matters. Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association and the Grand Rapids Bar Association. Nicole Paterson Paterson is an Associate at Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment practice group. Her areas of focus include defending employers before the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board and Michigan Employment Relations Commission. MMHRA is collaborating with VSHRM to host a SHRM Certification Study Group in the Fall of 2015 to assist those preparing for the Winter 2016 exam! Classes will be held this Fall in Midland (location and schedule will be determined) on two to three consecutive Saturday afternoons. Amy McGinnis was honored during a 2015 Woman of the Year Luncheon at CMU on March 5th. Amy was selected as Woman of the Year by the CMU American Council on Education. The designations are ―SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and ―SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRMSCP)‖. The new SHRM certification is built around the ―SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge‖ (―SHRM BoCK‖) model, developed by SHRM. Beginning January 1, 2015, HR professionals with existing HR generalist certifications that are in good standing (i.e. PHR, SPHR, GPHR, HRMP, and HRBP) will be eligible for the new SHRM Certification, at no cost, by completing the following by December 31, 2015: Document that your current certification is in good standing Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics Complete a brief online tutorial on HR competencies The online tutorial will focus on HR competencies and will take approximately one hour to complete Once the above steps are completed, you will earn the new SHRM credential and begin a three-year SHRM recertification cycle.
