Wiarton is one of many towns incorporated in 1999 into
the larger Town of South Bruce Peninsula. With incredible
Niagara Escarpment shorelines, sandy beaches, ecological
wonderlands and superior festivals, this is an excellent
immersion into Canadian town life. Wiarton is also home to
the famous “Wiarton Willie”. Each February 2nd, known as
Groundhog Day, Willie is coaxed out of his hole amid festivities.
His role is to predict whether there will be an early spring,
depending on whether or not he sees his shadow.

SCENIC BEAUTY / OUTDOOR RECREATION
