epic road tour
The Ride Grey Bruce Epic Road Tour was created as a series of smaller
rides. You can pick it up anywhere along the route and enjoy as many – or
as few – rides as you have time for. Use our Epic Tour rides to enjoy rolling
hills, scenic lookouts, sandy beaches, picturesque waterfalls, fun roadside
attractions, great eats, fabulous sunsets and much more.
Plan to clock about 10 hours of road time if you do all the rides. You can do a single ride in a
day, but spend 3 days to a week touring and you’ll really get that “epic” feel!
For detailed driving directions, visit ridegreybruce.com
Ride 1 - The Beaver Valley & Blue Mountains
Lean in to the corners and enjoy the winding roads and rolling hills of the
Beaver Valley as you tour a dramatic and rugged part of Ontario’s Niagara
Escarpment.
Great in summer and especially fall, this ride offers a brilliant mix of activities including a cruise
through the world-famous Blue Mountain Village. Start in the Village of Flesherton, head northeast to Eugenia where you can enjoy the falls and poke around at the Emporium. Stay on Grey
Rd 13, stopping at the Beaver Valley Scenic Lookout. Watch for Grey Rd 30 on your left for a
great side-loop up the west side of the Niagara escarpment. On the way to Thornbury, enjoy
a stroll at Farmers Pantry where you can fill your saddlebags with crisp Beaver Valley apples
during the harvest. Enjoy the Georgian Bay coastline in Thornbury before heading up to the Blue
Mountain Village where you can eat, sleep, shop and even enjoy a Hummer tour! From there,
head up to Scenic Caves Nature Adventures for the suspension bridge and more.
Ride 2 - Owen Sound, Walter’s Falls and Meaford
Ride 3 - The Owen Sound and Georgian Bluffs “Figure 8”
Bluffs and beaches, caves and coastline: Owen Sound and area have a lot to offer.
This ride gives you great views from both sides on Owen Sound Bay, but you can leave off
the eastern loop if you’re crunched for time. Highlights in Owen Sound include unique shops,
restaurants and the beautiful Harrison Park in the heart of town and Inglis Falls south of town
(it’s a gorgeous ride up 2nd Ave E to the falls – just follow the signs). Pick up the western leg
of this ride from Kelso Beach on the west side of Owen Sound Bay. Head north and follow the
road all the way around the bay to Wiarton. Along the way, stop in Big Bay for ice cream, check
out the Keppel W.I. and Colpoy’s Scenic Lookouts and have a leg stretch at Bruce’s Caves. After
stopping to visit Wiarton Willie, you have 3 options: head back east to Owen Sound, west to
Sauble Beach or north up the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory.
Ride 4 - Sauble Beach, Lion’s Head and Tobermory
(Manitoulin Island - optional)
White sand, dramatic rock formations, sunken ships!
Sauble Beach is known as “the Daytona of the North” for good reason: an endless stretch of
white sand and 11 kilometres of beach cruising day and night! The route from Sauble through
Hope Bay to Lion’s Head is a fun, twisty ride, and Lion’s Head is home to Taylor-Made B&B, a
spot that caters almost exclusively to riders. Note: north of town the road turns to gravel, so head
out on the Caudle SR to Highway 6 and continue northward up to Tobermory and take the ferry
to Manitoulin Island. Don’t miss the Observation Tower at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre, or
a glass-bottom boat tour in Tobermory. On the way up or back, consider a side trip out to Cape
Croker Indian Park off of Purple Valley Road, especially in mid-August on pow-wow weekend.
Ride 5 - Lake Huron Shore
The Lake Huron shoreline is known worldwide for dramatic skies and stunning sunsets. Enjoy
them from one of the many lighthouse jetties or docks in towns all the way up the coast. For a
change from the bustle of Sauble Beach, try a visit to Southampton or Kincardine where you’ll
find great food, shopping and live music, or a visit to the Bruce Power Visitor Center in Tiverton.
Make sure to follow the ride inland to Paisley, home to artist studios, a fantastic trestle bridge
and the best selection of craft beers in rural Ontario!
You can start this tour from Thornbury or Meaford (where it meets Ride 1) or Owen Sound
(Ride 3). Some of the highlights of this leisurely tour include the Epping Lookout over Georgian
Bay, and Walter’s Falls (stop at the general store for directions to the falls); the Big Apple in
Meaford; the Irish Mountain Scenic Lookout and the unforgettable Ted’s Range Road Diner,
where you can dine on caribou and quaff local beer in a Quonset hut next to a tank range!
NOTE: Need a bike fix? Fox Harley Davidson is on the south side of Owen Sound on Hwy 6&10.
Lighthouses and sunsets make this stretch of the road famous world-wide.
Crashing waterfalls, scenic lookouts and a vibrant little city make for a
great day on and off the bike.

"
This is a fantastic one-day ride if you love the open road. Take the Super
Loop to enjoy long hills, slow curves, few stops and a chance to explore the
towns and villages of Grey and Bruce.
Depending on where you start, you can be on this ride within 1 ½ hours of most major cities in
southern Ontario (Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, London, Barrie). Give yourself 3 ½
hours of on-bike time to complete the loop.
Some of the highlights of the tour include the cave tour at Neustadt Springs Brewery, a stop at
the Barrhead near Markdale, Nature’s Millworks and Back Eddie’s in the Village of Paisley and
Harley’s Pub & Perk and the Mildmay Cheese Haus in Mildmay. Don’t forget to take your picture
with Big Bruce just outside of Chesley! Great summer activities on this route include the Canada
Day celebrations in Priceville and the Holstein Rodeo later in July.
It’s a short jump from the Super Loop to all five of the Epic Tour rides – choose any of our
preferred roads (yellow) or provincial highways (red) to link up.
Create a self-guided waterfall tour by following the symbols on our map. We suggest you start
at McGowan Falls in Durham, then work your way to visit Hogg’s, Eugenia and Walter’s Falls.
Head towards Owen Sound to see Inglis, Weavers Creek, Jones and Indian Falls, then head out
to the Huron shore to see Sauble Falls.
See visitgrey.ca/waterfalls for more information.
lighthouse tour
Enjoy the mystery and allure of many of the lighthouses that dot the Bruce Coast. This selfguided tour will lead you along the shoreline. We suggest starting at Point Clark, just south of
Kincardine and working your way up to Tobermory. Once there, hop on the Chi-Cheemaun to
continue your adventure on Manitoulin Island.
See brucecoastlighthouses.com for more information.

We loved having a
destination to drive
to on our motorcycles! ”
Sue, Fergus Ontario
The Grey Bruce region has much to offer the two-wheeled traveler; wide open roads, genuine
hospitality, motorcycle-friendly accommodations and destinations as welcoming as they are diverse.
Whether travelling alone or with a group, the area offers something for everyone. On your next
adventure, take the time to discover the region’s unique geographic landscapes and fascinating nautical
history, you won’t be disappointed. “
