S E RV I C E S G U I D E INSTALLING WIPAIR FLOATS ON A NEW TWIN OTTER DHC-6-400 IN THIS ISSUE: Planning a trip to Tahiti By Paul Chamberland, General Manager TASC, Tahiti Planning a trip to the beautiful island of Tahiti? It would be my pleasure to assist you, through this article, to make your planned trip a success for you and your client. As with all international operations, planning ahead will make your operation a success. First, the routing can be simple if you have the 8 ½ hours of range necessary to reach us from most destinations. If not, we can assist you with a few stops like Easter Island or Hawaii. French Polynesia is governed under French authority and French civil aviation so coming to visit us in Tahiti requires similar entry requirements as flying into France. Please visit our website, www.tascfbo.com, for entry requirements. French Polynesia has approximately 118 islands and many guests will couple their trip with a yacht to enjoy all that French Polynesia has to offer. We assist many aircrafts in visiting the various islands with not only planning, but actual crew and ground support in isolated areas. It must be understood; however, that all flights visiting French Polynesia must first enter Tahiti NTAA as this is the only port of entry to clear customs and immigration. While in Tahiti, we will provide all the services required for your continuation. The FBO in Tahiti is comparable to any in the United States with full service, passenger lounge, maintenance, and on-site customs and immigration. Hotels and restaurants on Tahiti are great, but for crews planning an extended visit; our sister Island of Moorea can be a more pleasurable alternative. Please note that tips, taxes, and service fees are already included in restaurants’ listed menu prices. Should your aircraft be positioned in French Polynesia for more than 7 to 10 days; it would be advisable to wash the aircraft and fan the engines in order to prevent any corrosion problems due to high humidity. In any case, we are here to make your stay in French Polynesia most enjoyable, the people here are warm and friendly. TASC SERVICES GUIDE | OCTOBER 2013 EDITION TASC Helicopter Support By Michel Rainville, Pacific Helicopter Support For the past two years Pacific Helicopter Support, in cooperation with TASC, have provided the yacht community with an integrated support solution for their yacht helicopters. Beginning with the initial unpacking of the helicopter shipped in a sea container and assisting your crew with the initial startup; TASC will support you with all the logistics related to such an operation. TASC ground and maintenance crew will also groom and wash the helicopter, provide maintenance services such as battery capacity checks, and assist you with the various aspects of in-service maintenance. Also, our logistics services can assist your pilots with all facets of fuel positioning, navigation within the islands, ground logistics, and French-speaking navigators. Of course, a very important feature will be that your clients feel comfortable arriving at the FBO in our VIP lounge. Baggage will be transferred seamlessly into the helicopter and, when ready, we will escort the passengers straight to the helicopter. After a hard day’s work the helicopter will be serviced, cleaned, groomed and placed carefully back into the hangar. We also produce special pumps for helicopter barrel refueling in the outer islands should it be necessary. This compact system provides a secure way to upload additional fuel in remote locations. We can also preposition fuel at remote locations. 3 OSMOCO HELIDECK SYSTEM IS PART OF OUR HELICOPTER MAINTENANCE TASC is investing heavily in new helicopter support equipment. With the increasing amount of helicopters we are now supporting for our yacht friends; you will find support services from grooming and washing to turbine wash systems and Osmoco Helideck systems that prevent any damage to your helicopter in towing in and out of the hangar. Furthermore, the Osmoco Helideck is fully lit with LED lighting and outfitted with an innovative braking system.
