As we have demonstrated throughout the year, we are uniting our associations to represent
healthcare within the state of Wyoming. We want the Wyoming Hospital Association and LeadingAge Wyoming to be the source that the state and the legislators look to for information and
as the voice of healthcare in Wyoming.
This is an exciting time as we come together to network and learn from one another. We have
many great presenters lined up to help motivate and educate.

10th Annual WHA PAC Golf Tournament, to be
held at the Cheyenne Country Club. The format
is a 4-person per team at a cost of $125 per
player, or $500 per team.

Established in 1917, the Cheyenne Country
Club offers 18 holes of pristine golf enjoyment
characterized by the unique feature of 6 par
5’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 3’s.
Proceeds from the tournament will support the
WHA’s political advocacy efforts. This will be

Curt Tomasevicz
Two-time Olympic Bobsled medalist and Shelby, Nebraska native,
Curt Tomasevicz has been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated
and has made numerous TV appearances. His message of finding
your own personal success is both uplifting and inspiring.
He made his Olympic debut in Torino 2006, sliding to sixth place in
the four-man bobsled competition. In 2007, he grabbed his first-ever
World Cup gold with Steve Holcomb, and the momentum didn't stop
there; he and Holcomb took silver at the Whistler World Cup in February 2009 and weeks later he, Holcomb, Justin Olsen and Steve Mesler
raced the "Night Train" to its first four-man World title in half a century.
In the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada this four-man trio
took home the gold medal in the 4-man bobsled event. A feat that has
not happened in 62 years!

Launching Patient Centric Healthcare
In many respects American healthcare over the past two years has resembled a disparate
fleet stuck in port during a series of mega-storms. Now, however, the waiting game is over. With
the President's re-election and the Senate still in the hands of the Democrats, the Affordable Care
Act is clearly here to stay. You might say the storm clouds have cleared, the seas have calmed,
and it's time to leave the harbor - despite general apprehension and confusion over which course
to follow.
True, there will be battles and adjustments ahead, especially regarding Medicaid. But
the overall seismic movement from a fee-for-service world to one in which measurements and
reimbursements - and survival - are based on the quality and effectiveness of outcomes is frankly unstoppable. The tectonic move from "No Margin, No Mission," to "No Outcome, No Income"
cannot be stopped.
Equally unstoppable is the reality that hospitals, healthcare systems, and doctors are
going to be forced to live on lower reimbursement thanks to congressional paralysis. Getting
ahead of this tsunami by knowing what to change is going to be monumentally challenging, but
vital. In essence, the puzzle is how to keep enough cash flowing while altering the DNA of the
profession - a process akin to rebuilding a ship while you're sailing it.
And there are miscues and false solutions everywhere. Without an error-free, injury-free
use of best practices giving the best clinical results, no amount of improved food, decor, or follow-up calls will yield a great patient experience, acceptable score or payment. Institutions must
find, new meaningful, and clinically-effective tactics that flow from a crystal clear philosophy
and solid underlying strategy.
The healthcare system that will emerge and succeed will not necessarily be based on
ACO's, medical homes, or any other nationally-directed idea, but it will be one that understands how to include, empower, motivate, and inspire the people who are the organization,
as well as deal happily with the inevitability of human and systemic mistakes.
In a phrase, John will make the compelling case that means and that voyage will need to
be made with lightning speed. Without a carefully acquired understanding of how to change,
and a clear articulation by leaders on where we are heading, organizations will fail despite the
best of intentions.

Optum—Optum will be presenting a program on what is changing with WYHealth, including the Health
Management (HM) and Program Utilization Management (UM). They will be exploring what’s new in UM
and what’s the same; Services requiring an authorization (initial and concurrent reviews); and high level
overview of the UM process.
What is the WYhealth HM program (includes an overview of field-based teams) and who is appropriate to
refer to the HM program and how to refer a client to the HM program

Cyber security consequences impact all businesses, organizations, consumers, and even national defense. Cyber crime has escalated in recent years and is replacing terrorism as the largest threat in America. Businesses and organizations are more at risk than ever due to our increasing reliance on interconnectivity, rapidly growing electronic data volumes, more complex technology structures, and third party
vendor relationships. What Wyoming business don’t know is that they are not immune. Cyber crime is
in Wyoming. Cyber crime can affect your business negatively with loss of operations, bad press, and

PBJ—Payroll-Based Journal Reporting: Strategies To Get It Right
The mandatory Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) reporting requirement for skilled nursing facilities to
collect and electronically submit direct care hours began July 1, 2016. With CMS requiring the reporting of all direct care hours – including agency and contractor hours – along with census information,
providers must get ready today to ensure their data is complete and accurate. Failure to submit or reporting inaccurate data can be costly, potentially leading to citation and civil money penalties. Learn
the ins and outs of the PBJ requirements and best practices to collect, review and submit the required
information to CMS. Get credit for the care your organization provides by implementing proactive processes that help get PBJ reporting right.

within the long term care system.

compliance with state statutes and Life Safety Code compliance.

This presentation will focus on covering some recent changes within the Life Safety and Construction
Branch regarding staffing; the plan review process; inspection queue; internal project management;
