WEEK: JAGUAR
XK 120

HE car of the
week this time
around was a
true classic.
A Jaguar XK 120, fixed
head coupe, from 1953.
With a 3.4 litre, straight
six engine, this particular
car was built for export to
Santa Monica, California
when new, but was
brought over to Majorca
in 2010 having been fully
restored in Belgium in
2001.

It’s fair to say the XK 120
earned iconic status, having been owned by some
of the Hollywood greats
over the years, including
Cary Grant, Clark Gable,
Humphrey Bogart and
even Marilyn Monroe!
Now that’s some pedigree
for a car designed and
built in Coventry in the
United Kingdom!

muscle at the
Boat House

OTS of happy holidaymakers
joined the weekly car show at
The Boat house in Palma last
Wednesday.
And the interesting thing was that a
number of them had discovered this now
popular event either before leaving
home, or upon their arrival on this magical island.
It would appear that stories of these evenings hosted by Driving Mallorca which
are appearing every week in the Daily Bulletin, are also circulating on the Internet
and through social media, attracting car
lovers from far away places.
It all made for a varied and lively social
gathering!
As well as the nice mix of regular people
and holidaymakers, the variety of cars
turning up didn’t disappoint either!
New motors included a very loud and
L
popular Ford custom Hot Rod, a Caterham 7, a Citroen DS, and a Lancia Beta
Montecarlo.
Together with a now established turnout of such marques such as Morgan,
Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Lotus, TVR
and the American muscle cars, there’s
never a dull moment on these balmy
summer nights!
And once again the friendly staff at The
Boat House kept car owners and visitors
well supplied with chilled drinks and
tasty food as everyone admired the cars
and caught up with friends and family.
