The History of the
Fieldcote Music Series:
SERIES SPONSORS 2014
From Gazebo to Hay Wagon
to Bandshell
In 1995, the “Music at the Gazebo” Series began in
front of Ancaster’s Old Town Hall. Six years later, it was
relocated to Fieldcote where the initial concerts were
held on a shaky, creaky, hay wagon! In 2001, diehard
Fieldcote volunteers and fundraisers provided the
necessary physical and financial resources to construct
the current band shell.
The Fieldcote Music Series celebrates a high calibre
of talent with musicians holding local, national and
international reputations. FMS thrives on the passion of its
volunteers and the donations from private and corporate
sponsors. If you would like to volunteer or make a
financial contribution, please contact Leah Higens at

Please join us in welcoming Paul Anthony (Johnny Cash), Kurk
Bernard, Steve Petrie & Bill Carruthers. Johnny Cash spent his
life writing music and telling the stories of people from all walks
of life, people from both sides of the track. Our Mission (CASH)
is to continue telling the Johnny Cash Story with the sounds and
storyline of the ‘Man In Black’ Johnny Cash.
Canadian saxophonist Jane Bunnett has assembled an exciting
new sextet featuring the finest young women musicians in Cuba.
Maqueque consists of Jane and virtuoso drummer Yissy García,
percussionist Dayme, Yusa on tres guitar and fretless bass, pianist
Danae, and Magdelys on batás and congas. They are a blend of
traditional Cuban music with folkloric rhythms and jazz.
“The blazing energy they possess is matched with confident
instrumental skill and imaginative outcome” - John O’Regan,
Irish Music Magazine, “Every time I hear music such as this
delivered with the vitality, skill and passion offered by bands
like Full Set, I’m hooked”-Tim Carroll, www.folkwords.com

Celebrating the work of famed folklorist and field recording
pioneer Alan Lomax, this collaboratory brings together some of
North America’s most distinctive and creative roots musicians to
revive, recycle and re-imagine traditional music. The repertoire
includes Bahamian sea chanties, African-American a cappella
singing from the Georgia Sea Islands, Old World weavers’ work
songs, ancient Appalachian ballads, field hollers, fiddle tunes
and ring shouts.
Celebrated five time JUNO Award winner, Liona Boyd has
recently released her new album “The Return...to Canada
with Love. Inspired by Liona’s return to her homeland after
spending the last twenty years living in the United States,
the album is a powerful mix of nostalgia, romanticism and
storytelling, with just a dash of patriotism.
