Our mission
is to provide club members superior training, support,
and competitive opportunities that will aid in their growth as athletes,
family members, and citizens in an environment that promotes
leadership, integrity, commitment to teamwork, and sportsmanship.
About Venom
Rutger Wiese (currently coaching at Harvard University) and
Olivia Netzler Gray (currently coaching at Northeastern
University) founded Pittsburgh Venom in 2010. Our vision is to
be the premiere youth field hockey club in Western
Pennsylvania, serving the needs of athletes between ages 6-19 by
providing an open learning environment in which each
individual can shine and perform at the highest level.
For the 2014-2015 indoor and outdoor seasons, we will field an
U14, U16, and U19 team. Venom is open to all female athletes
who would like to play field hockey with us.
Our goal is to prepare all players for a high level of competition.
With that in mind, only the players who are ready to compete at
the highest level will be selected to travel to tournaments. If we
have enough players to fill two teams in one age group, we will
field a top team and developmental team. In that case, the
developmental team will also travel to tournaments.
Being part of a team requires commitment and dedication. We
expect players who are selected to travel to do everything in their
power to participate at those tournaments.
