NIGHT of the JUMPs WORLD TOUR 2016
FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 fgo FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 NIGHT of the JUMPs WORLD TOUR 2016 The biggest Freestyle MX series in the world will return in 2016 on 3 continents In 2016, one of the most extreme of all action sports series in the world, NIGHT of the JUMPs, will return to a three continent tour. 2016 will also see the premiere of a new country added to the World Championship calendar. The season will start at the Tips Arena in Linz, Austria with two rounds on the 23rd and 24th of January as the prelude of the Freestyle MX European Championships. In the season opener, rookies will have the chance to ride in an open qualifier to determine who will go on to compete in NIGHT of the JUMPs Linz. The top four riders from Pre-Qualification will then move into the starting field for the European Championship opener. Directly after Linz, the riders will move next to Switzerland for the opening round of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships at the St Jakobshalle in Basel. The World Championships have never before started so early in the calendar year. It will be interesting to see how quickly the athletes can return from the winter break and come straight back into riding in championship mode on 29th and 30th of January. At the end of February, the FMX athletes will again converge on the hometown of NIGHT of the JUMPs in the German Capital of Berlin for rounds 3 and 4 of the FIM World Championship. Inside the Mercedes Benz Arena, viewers can again expect the highest level of Freestyle Motocross competition and in 2016 there will be an additional landing built inside the hall to bring the total to 3 landings and provide the riders with more opportunities to unleash their newest and most technical tricks. The following week will be the premiere of NIGHT of the JUMPs in the Scandinavian city of Stockholm in the Friends Arena on the 4th of March. It is the first time the World Championships have be in Scandinavia and it will become the 5th round of the series. Following Stockholm, the riders will travel directly on to Krakow in Poland for the next Championship battle for points on the 12th of March. A six week break will ensue before the return of the Freestyle MX European Championships on April 23rd in Munich, Germany for the 3rd round. The Grand Finale of the NIGHT of the JUMPs European Championship will take place the following month in the SAP Arena in Mannheim on May 21st. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Before the summer break begins, NIGHT of the JUMPs will return for the second year to the FIM Motorsports Capital in Jerez, Spain for a further round of FIM World Championship points. On the 11th of June, Jerez will host the first outdoor event of the season in the bull-fighting ring, before the second outdoor competition is scheduled for the first half of July in Brazil. After the three-month summer break, the only International Event of the NIGHT of the JUMPs 2016 season will take place on October 8th in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena, where riders will collect points for the NIGHT of the JUMPs World Ranking. The 9th round of the FIM World Championships will return to Latvia with the probable date of 15th of October in Riga. In addition to Europe and South America, the World Championship will return for the 5th time on the Asian continent. The two NIGHT of the JUMPs rounds will take place in Shenzhen, China in late October or early November. The exact date will be announced later. The second last round of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship season will take place in the Eastern European nation of Bulgaria. On November 12th the riders will meet again in Sofia to battle for all important championship points before the final round one week later in Poland. The final round will take place in the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland on November 19th. The last points will be on offer and then the new 2016 FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion will be crowned. In 2001, the first NIGHT of the JUMPs was held at the Arena in Riesa. Over the following years, NIGHT of the JUMPs has matured to become the most adrenaline fuelled Freestyle Motocross series in World Sport. From a sporting perspective, the NIGHT of the JUMPs is a measure of all things. So the official FIM FMX World Champion will be determined in the context of the series since its inception in 2006. In 2011, the Freestyle MX European Championships were also added, to allow for a European Champion to be crowned. With the World Championship ranking, the series is also the most authoritative ranking in Freestyle Motocross as a sport. Since then, over the past 16 years many of the best riders from all around the world have made an appearance in the longest running FMX sporting series in the world. Freestyle MX icons and legends such as Mike Metzger, MadMike Jones, Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Stenberg, Ailo Gaup, Mat Rebeaud, Ronnie Renner, Adam Jones, Mike Mason, Andre Villa, Matt Buyten and many more have joined the ever growing list. In 2016, the organisers of the NIGHT of the JUMPS series will bring together an extremely strong field of riders. Of course leading the pack is the reigning World Champion from Spain, Maikel Melero. The FIM Freestyle MX World Champion won in 2014 but it was the 2015 series which ended in the tightest pre-final clash with only 2 championship points separating first and second. It would be Maikel who successfully defended his title in the closest championship battle ever seen. In 2016, he will be working to secure a 3rd consecutive World Championship. David Rinaldo from France will be fighting for his second World Championship title with the biggest tricks in the sport including the California Roll and Volt body varials. Rinaldo is one of the few riders in the world to possess the Rock Solid Backflip. After narrowly losing the World Championship in 2015, he will be looking to exact revenge in 2016. One rider to bring some podium tension back to the World Championship fight is the three-time World Championship record holder, Remi Bizouard. Remi has returned for the full season and his performances show he is on fire after proving that he can also bring the Volt last year. Remi will do all he can to make his full season come-back worthwhile and win his fourth World title. In addition, the 2010 FIM World Champion Libor Podmol (CZE) will return, bringing the four FIM World Champions together to set up for a blistering new season. The Aussie Rob Adelberg will return after his Bronze Medal performance in 2015. Rob has some new tricks on a different quarter pipe position so we look forward to seeing him perform the Cordova Transfer Flip in 2016. Two German riders will also start the NIGHT of the JUMPs 2016 season with the Ackermann Brothers bringing new tricks of their own. The four-time German FMX Champion Hannes Ackermann had a strong season in 2015 with his new Volt, the Porti-Air Flip and Transfer Flip also. Hannes will represent Germany in the World Championship and do everything possible to finish on the podium at the end of the year. His younger brother Luc who finished as the 2015 Runner-Up in the European Championships will also start in 2016 in the World Championships. The newest addition to the World Championship roster is the young Spanish Torero, Marc Pinyol who has his very own Body Varial, the Inside Roll. Pinyol also has the California Roll and a Surfer take off to Tsunami Backflip in his bag of tricks. He has all the ingredients to make the final, and the youthful exuberance to make it happen. Another Spaniard to return in 2016 is Jose “El Loco” Miralles. Miralles brings experience but also some unique trick variations with his party attitude which always fires up the crowd. Massimo Bianconcini from Italy will also ride alongside Miralles in the LifeProof Best Whip and Maxxis Highest Air competitions before returning as a Judge for the World Championship qualification and final runs. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 About the NIGHT of the JUMPs The NIGHT of the JUMPs is the oldest and largest international Freestyle MX series in the world. In its unique mixture, it combines international top-class sport (FIM Freestyle MX World Championship, Freestyle MX European Championship) with classical show elements such as pyroand lighting technology. NIGHT of the JUMPs made its debut back in 2001 at Arena Riesa. Since that more than 300 NIGHT of the JUMPs events have been carried out before approx. 3.0 million enthusiastic fans. The basic idea behind the NIGHT of the JUMPs is to connect spectators with the stars of the FMX scene, which is why the riders’ camp is open to visitors at all the events. There is no problem at all to be photographed together with the world’s best freestylers, to get an autograph or just generally experience the world stars live. The sportive contest is at the centre of focus. At the majority of the NIGHT of the JUMPs events there are even World Championship or European Championship points being awarded. The approximately 3-hour program is completed by show elements, however, such as the MAXXIS High Jump contest, the Whip contest or the 2009 introduced Race-and-Style contests and other selected show acts such as for example the double backflip, backwards somersault with the quad, snowmobile or BMX shows. So landed America’s Scott Murray the first Double Backflip of the NIGHT of the JUMPs series in Ostrava 2012 and Emma McFerran did last year in Berlin the first woman backflip of the series. With world records regularly being broken, such as the ‘Highest Air’ (11,50 metres by Massimo Bianconcini at NIGHT of the JUMPs in Turin 2012) and the ‘all-time youngest motorbike backflip’ (12-year-old Luc Ackermann at NIGHT of the JUMPs in Cologne 2010), the series continues to set the benchmark and to excite media attention from around the world. Also the first ever backflip on European ground has been done at the NIGHT of the JUMPs (Mike Metzger, 2003 in Oberhausen). NIGHT of the JUMPS is where the world’s top FMX riders pit their skills against each other, especially in the freestyle discipline. World stars in Freestyle Motocross such as Mat Rebeaud, Ailo Gaup, Andrè Villa, Remi Bizouard or Libor Podmol made their breakthru this series. Current examples of the NIGHT of the JUMPs talent scouting are shooting stars like Josh Sheehan (AUS), Maikel Melero (ESP) or David Rinaldo (FRA), who came thru the series to their world-wide fame and firstly have been presented on international level here. Rinaldo became 2013 FIM Freestyle MX World Champion. Maikel Melero is the current FIM Freestyle MX World Champion (2014, 2015). The setup of the ramps and the TV production has steadily become more sophisticated over the years, so that the fans in the arena now benefit in the form of slow motion replays and backstage shots. And with videos showing all the build-up plus live interviews with the construction crew, competition judges and the riders themselves, the crowd gets in-depth insight and don’t miss a trick. The NIGHT OF THE JUMPS is never boring, for every event provides a sporting contest at the very highest level, at which the riders create enthusiastic amazement with their tricks. And the spectators are closely involved at all times, being kept closely informed at every moment via information screens about the score and the results. Numerous slow-motion replays, and (last but not least) the "double-up" (a starter's last jump, which counts double) ensure always that the fans never miss a high spot. And that is not just for the fans in the hall. Fans all over the world can follow the events online live, and at NIGHToftheJUMPs.com they can obtain many more photographs, information, interviews and backstage reports, covering every aspect of their favorite stars. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 NIGHT of the JUMPs TV + Social Media 2016: NIGHT of the JUMPs has enhanced its media presence to ensure that fans around the world can keep up with all the action in 2016 and follow the progress of their favourites. In addition to the revamped website, a YouTube channel has been set up to show the highlights and Top Three jumps from each round as well as interesting and entertaining video clips about NIGHT of the JUMPs. This service has more than 6 million visits per year. Fans can also check out the Facebook page for daily updates on the series and its star riders. Over 53 million post views testify to the massive interest. The popular 26-minute roundup has been completely overhauled and since 2013 has been doubled in length to 52 minutes. It is shown in over 142 countries. Several times a year, the NIGHT of the JUMPs online magazine also provides unique glimpses behind the scenes, publishes in-depth interviews with the creators of the series, the judges and stars, and shows superb photos from the past 16 years. The aim was to give a platform in Europe to this young sport type from which it could establish itself on the long-term. The creators of the NIGHT of the JUMPS series and its riders were the guiding spirits behind the IFMXF, which on only a few years organized the freestyle MX world-wide. Meanwhile, the organizers have bundled their expertise and the rights to NIGHT of the JUMPS in SPORTPLUS GmbH. Over 40 experts concerned with regulations, safety, logistics, marketing and media ensure a smooth course of events. Several million spectators have seen the contests or shows either live or on TV. “Freestyle Motocross is extreme sports and breathtaking entertainment. It lives from the character of the sportsmen, from their individuality and their desire to overcome personal limits in ever more impossible flight maneuvers.” Marko Manthey CEO SportPlus. The competence of the NIGHT of the JUMPs was already acknowledged in 2005 by the FIM (see on next page). A cooperation contract between the organizations made it possible to carry out an official world championship in 2006 for the first time. In association with the UEM, NIGHT of the JUMPs will incorporate the 2011 official European Championship. In its 16 years on the road, the NIGHT of the JUMPs has developed into the world’s best and most prestigious FMX series. It has circled the globe several times, and year on year, it has built up a growing fan base, attracted ever bigger crowds and been taken more and more seriously by the media. FIM - Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme The FIM, Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, is the body that globally governs and sanctions motorcycle sport at the world level. It is the owner of the FIM World Motorcycle World Championships titles, such as MotoGP, FIM Superbike World Championship, FIM QMMF Endurance World Championship, FIM Motocross World Championships, Motocross of Nations, FIM Supermoto World Championship, FIM Freestyle Motocross World Championship, FIM SPEA Trial World Championship, Trial of Nations, FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship, ISDE, FIM Speedway Grand Prix, FIM Speedway World Cup, etc. The FIM groups together 98 affiliated National Federations relating to the sport of motorcycle racing, leisure motorcycling, defense of motorcycle users' rights and interests. Visit www.fim.ch FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Freestyle Motocross – The Background On the motorcycle at 40 miles per hour, shooting up on a 2.60m-high steel ramp, then flat out 10 metres into the sky, floating horizontally over the motorcycle there and then kissing the front fender. Then the landing after 20 or 30 metres – with no hands- then really making a sensation and, with diverse broken bones, sipping Alete for six weeks from the feeding cup. The advertising the motorcycle in the want ads, under the column “Power Motorcycles/Offer/In Parts” – that’s probably how the Freestyle Motocross attempts of an average pilot would end. With the FMX professional, the exercise just described would be different: “Kiss of Death” with concluding “No-Hand Landing.” The crowd goes wild, judges award points and there’s money, too. Freestyle Motocross, FMX for short, is more than motorsport, more than just lap times – it is a lifestyle. Marked by the zest for individuality and freedom, more and more Motocrossers enjoy Freeriding and also Freestyle. The point is the fascination of riding, the dynamics and the flying. Not speed, but feeling is the standard for a successful day. It is not comparison with others that counts, but the personal experience, the extension of one’s personal limits and experiencing ever-new limits. Freestyle Motocross is the most extreme form of the lifestyles. Chided by a few as sacked racers, for other pioneers a completely new generation of Motocrossers. Freestyle Motocross swept from America to Europe several years ago. In America there was already a group of Motocrossers in the early 1990s who were not satisfied with merely racing. Increasingly, the jumps during the race were considered an expression of creativity and sportive achievement. These jumps, ornamented with smaller and larger tricks, shifted more and more into the foreground. Spectators and also riders wanted more of this and, gradually, MX and SX icons changed fronts and concentrated increasingly on only FMX. The first purely FMX Events were called into being in 1998 and the first major sponsors joined in. In the meantime, there are professionally organised FMX events in Germany as well. The first purely FMX event took place in February 2001 at the Sachsen ARENA in Riesa. With a starter field of over 8 nations, riders such as Tommy Clowers and Mike Jones, heros like Kornel Nemeth and the shooting stars Daniel Hall and Luke Urek from Australia, the “NIGHT of the JUMPs 1” was the kickoff for FMX in Germany and Europe. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Judging An appropriate judging system, accepted by the riders and comprehensible for the spectators, was developed by the riders and organizers together and realized in the form of a PDA-based EDP system. With this system, the results can be calculated in seconds and shown live on the internet or TV. The judges observe the riders already during training, and establish how many jumps of the riders are to be evaluated within a time-frame of 60 seconds (preliminary heat) or 90 seconds (Finale). If a rider does more than the required jumps, the worst jumps are eliminated from the evaluation. The “Double Up” time begins for 30 seconds after the end of his run. Here, the rider shows his best trick on his favorite ramp and distance – this is then evaluated doubly and often determines the difference between victory and defeat. The Double Up Jump is correspondingly popular with the media and spectators as well. The 5 judges then establish, in a “Personal Impression,” whether they liked the style, type and manner of jumps, the choreography and/or dealing with the spectators. This is a very individual evaluation, but does probably best correspond to the basic idea of Freestyle. After the number of jumps, the track use and the Personal Impression, which determine about 30% of the result, the level of the tricks and their execution naturally play a significant role in the evaluation. For this reason, each individual jump receives an evaluation of 0-10 points. Here it is very important to mention that already during the 2005 season, a simple Backflip was only evaluated with 3 points if it was not at least shown over a distance of 20 meters or combined with another trick. In case of technical mistakes, short or wide landings, unclean style of driving and others the judges will deducting points. The highest and lowest results are automatically crossed out from the results of each judge, and the remaining three results shown as a sum. The order of starting in the qualification is made according to the momentary order in the world-ranking list. In the Finale of the Top 6, the one with the highest number of points rides last from the qualification. This assures the tension on the hot seat up to the last rider. Since the series began, this side contest has regularly thrilled spectators. They find it easy to keep track of who is winning and who is losing. As in the pole vault, the aim is to jump the motocross bike over a bar without dislodging it. Each rider has two attempts at clearing the height. If the bar falls, he is out. The competitor who jumps the highest height wins. Since 2012 riders collecting points towards an end of year ranking at each World Championship venue. The winner on the day secured five points with three points for second place and one point for third. In the past three years, Bianconcini has dominated the Maxxis Highest Air and has always been the overall winner. In 2012, the Italian broke the World Record with 11.50 metres and then received an invitation to X Games Los Angeles. In 2015 though, he narrowly gave up his title to Jose Miralles (ESP) in the most exciting final of the Maxxis Highest Air when they were on equal championship points coming into the final round in Sofia. Miralles in the end would take the 2015 Maxxis Highest Air title. In 2015, the riders will once again be vying with each other for championship points. Maxxis Highest Air 2015 1. Jose Miralles 2. With ROCKWELL Watches as the title sponsor, the side-contest always had the fans on the edge of their seats, especially as this is the only time during the evening that spectators get to see a procession up to eight riders jumping in quick time. The Best Whip contest proved so popular in 2014 that it has now been incorporated as a regular feature in NIGHT of the JUMPs tour stops. The Whip is effectively the precursor of all freestyle motocross tricks. It was the first show jump to have developed from pure motocross racing and still is one of the most stylish of all. At the end of summer break in the 2014 season, LIFEPROOF superseded Rockwell as the trophy sponsor. The LIFEPROOF Best Whip will also thrill fans during all rounds of the 2016 NIGHT of the JUMPs series. The Czech is the youngest FMX rider from his country ever to pull off a Backflip. Now, he reels off the toughest backflip combos as a matter of routine. He was the first rider in the world to jump the Tandem Backflip. Since 2010, he has been a NIGHT of the JUMPs regular but has had to contend with a string of injuries, which explains why he could finish no higher than eighth in 2011. In 2013, he moved up into the FMX World Championship Top 5. 2015 he won the European Championship. Bike: Born: FMX since: KTM 12th March 1991 in Benesov/Czech Republic 2001 #5 FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2013 #8 FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2011 Hannes Ackermann (Germany, #5 WM 2012) The German rider made his breakthru onto the FMX scene in 2001, having previously ridden in motocross. He performed his first Backflip in 2007 and became the first winner of the German FMX championship, a title which he defended on three subsequent occasions. In 2009 and 2010, he established himself among the world’s Top Ten. Thanks to a strong repertoire of Cliffhanger, Tsunami and Hart Attack Flips, he finished the 2012 season in 5th place. In 2014, he impressed with a trick premiere, namely the Porti Air Flip. 2015 he won the NOTJ Hamburg. In addition to complex flip combinations such as the Tsunami Flip and Can Flip to Sidesaddle Landing, he is adept at No-Hand Landings and his own unique 9o-Clock. In 2009, he lifted the runner-up trophy. He then went on to finish third in both the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Bike: Born: FMX since: Husqvarna 06th January 1998 in Mühlhausen/Germany 2008 #11 FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2015 Marc Piynol (Spain) The young Spaniard has proven in his first two NIGHT of the JUMPS Contest in 2015, that he can be one of the surprises of the season. He has some tricks in his repertoire, which no other rider has in his arsenal. His Inside Roll still is unique in the FMX world. Bike: Born: FMX since: Yamaha 28th January 1993 in Lleida/Spain 2010 #21 FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2015 FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Remi Bizouard (France, World Champion 2008, 2009, 2012) Der Franzose ist dreifacher FIM FMX Weltmeister und hat damit so viele Titel gesammelt, wie noch kein anderer in diesem Sport. Bike: Born: FMX since: Kawasaki 11th June 1986 in Bergerac/France 2003 #1 FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2008, 2009, 2012 Libor Podmol (Czech Republic, World Champion 2010) Libor Podmol is one of Europe’s top FMX riders. In 2014, he took second place once again. One only has to keep a few tricks in mind: Running gear: Brackets and shock absorbers need a harder tuning than the series tuning, in order to safely cushion the extreme jumps. This safety reserve is especially important in case one jumps too far or too short. Grabholes: Grabholes are the holes that the riders cut into the lateral start-number signs. Note: without grabholes there are no Seatgrab tricks! Extra stuck-on grip-tape will provide a yet stronger hold. Handlebar: FMXers use oversized handlebars without a middle brace. This makes the Barhop – Variations easier to manage – all the tricks executed to the front over the handlebar. Benchseat: When you cut the seat foam flatter, you gain valuable centimetres of room for all the tricks done over the seat such as the Nofoot CanCan. Mudguards: Shortened mudguards emphasise the typical FMX look. A shorter rear mudguard creates more room for tricks when you stretch out your leg behind the bike. Footrests: Broader footrests offer a greater standing surface and give more stability for the tricks. When you raise the footrests, it helps you come over the seat more easily. Motor: The motor is not actually modified for FMX. The important thing is an exhaust system that guarantees a high torque. Instead of pottering around rotational speed, you should have a good feeling for the gas. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 The NIGHT of the JUMPs Track Each competition of the NIGHT of the JUMPs and the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship contains a logistical master achievement on the part of the IFMXF during the construction of the route. For this, the large multi-functional halls must first be completely covered with foil so as not to soil the hall floors. A special covering is laid upon the foil, delivered by three road tractors. Then the road tractors bring in about 1,800 tonnes of sand or dirt into the given arena. The amount corresponds to 70 tractors or 1,200 excavator shovels or 36,000 wheelbarrows or 720,000 shovels. Then the 25-man NIGHT of the JUMPs construction team has 12 hours to spread dirt all over the entire hall floor and to prepare two to three approx. 4.5-metre-high land hills. There are two to three jump ramps on each on these hills, from which the riders then jump during the competition. Ramps with a nine-metre radius are used for jump distances of between 20 to 26 metres, depending on the size of the arena. The kicker ramp is at 11 metres and launches the rider at an even steeper angle into the air. Since 2014, a quarter ramp has also been integrated into the world championship track; this permits riders to attempt the Flair (540) trick. A dirt ramp is carved into one of the hills for use by contestants in the Maxxis Highest Air. The centre point of the track is the stage with the hot seat for the finalists. In addition, the NIGHT of the JUMPs travels with another jumbo tractor-trailer full of lighting and sound equipment as well as two further jumbo tractor-trailers for the ramps and the riders’ camp in front of the hall, in order to deliver this gigantic show to the spectators. Immediately after the end of the given competition, the track is taken down within a few hours and the hall swept clean. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 The NIGHT of the JUMPs Logistic A masterpiece of logistics is needed to get each NIGHT of the JUMPS contest up and running. Over 80 truck trailers are used to transport dirt, kit, technical equipment, motorcycles, spare parts and all the other bits and pieces to the venues: - 70 trucks of dirt 4 trucks loaded with assorted bits of equipment 3 trucks of floor plates (to cover the floor of the arena) 3 trucks of construction equipment (for building the track) 2 trucks filled with lighting equipment The construction plant is especially important for the building of a demanding, yet safe circuit. Technical partners supply all the equipment required – excavators, rollers and special machines – to guarantee the best possible conditions in the arena. In order to make sure that overseas events run smoothly, in China for example, NIGHT of the JUMPs has expanded its material provision to include a second set of equipment. Throughout the year, an entire shipping container filled with ramps and bikes is en route to far-flung places, ensuring that the best conditions for an exciting World Championship competition can be realized, even in exotic and distant locations. FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Trick Lexicon (selection): California Roll The rider performs a mid-air body turn either above or next to the bike before hauling himself back onto the saddle. Video-Link: http://youtu.be/yTUczBP_FVg Doublegrap Flip The Doublegrab is one of the most difficult of all backflips. During rotation, the rider grabs the seat with both hands and extends his body to the rear. Variations include the Lookback and Indian Air Video-Link: http://youtu.be/bWsoUVyirwM TP -Pastrana During a TP or Pastrana, the driver lies back on the seat with outstretched arms while stretching a leg forward over the handlebars. Video-Link: http://youtu.be/5ooERej2ODQ Sideshow The Sideshow is a ‘let-go’ trick, which means that for one moment no part of the rider’s body remains in contact with the bike. After takeoff, the rider dismounts, lets go with both hands and flies along next to the bike. Video-Link: http://youtu.be/c80teYUbVtQ FIM FREESTYLE MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESSEMAPPE / WORLD TOUR 2015 Tsunami Flip A Tsunami Backflip has the rider performing a handstand on the handlebars of the bike while it is perpendicular. Using the flip lever, he pushes the bike back on course with wrist power. Video-Link: http://youtu.be/MBLBWWLFiBc Indy to Heelclicker Flip In this backflip combination, the rider first performs a Superman Indy and, before the rotation is complete, clicks his heels together in front of the handlebars. Video-Link: http://youtu.be/OtFG83jph5A Flair The Flair is actually a BMX trick. Over a special Quarterpipe ramp the rider executes a 540 degree rotation. A trick that seemed possible only in the videogame until recently. Volt At the Volt the rider gets off the bike and executes a 360 degree rotation around himself.
