Proprietary
Prevents polyolefin films from
adhering both to themselves
and to processing take-up
equipment. These concentrates
achieve this effect through a
dispersion of inorganic solids
that “roughen” the film surface.
Slip
Provides surface lubrication
to facilitate downstream
processing of polyolefin films
and molded articles.

Antistat
Effective in reducing static
charge and minimizing dust
pick-up in polymeric films and
molded articles. Due to their
static dissipative properties,
these masterbatches are used
in packaging electronic and
other static sensitive products.

Processing Aid
Minimizes melt fracture in high
speed processing operations
and minimizes the coefficient
of friction between the polymer
and the internal machine
surfaces, thus facilitating
smooth polymer flow. Process
aids are often effective in
minimizing die lip build-up in
extrusion processes.
Flame Retardant
Prevents or minimizes flame
propagation in plastic articles.
Nucleating Agent
A special grade of fine particle
talc that nucleates foam into
a fine, uniform cell structure producing a smoother finished part.
Newer nucleating agents include
special endothermic blowing
agents that not only nucleate the
foam into smooth finished parts,
but also require a much lower
concentration and leave no talc
residue.
Specialty Additives
These products find use in
unique applications where
finished articles must be
altered for special effect.
Foaming agents serve to
decrease part weight and can
enhance sound and energy
absorption.

Filled & Reinforced Compounds
Spartech manufactures a variety of filled
and reinforced polymer compounds for
injection molding, blow molding, profile
and sheet & rollstock extrusion. We engineer
resins to meet advanced material
specifications. Our specialty compounds
enhance material properties through
the addition of fillers such as calcium
carbonate, mica, talc or glass fibers. Our
material development engineers formulate
custom products in order to achieve exact
customer specifications. We use a broad
base of thermoplastics, including
polypropylene, polyethylene,
and engineering resins.
Our global experience
in developing filled
and fiber reinforced
compounds provides
unmatched value for
our customers.
Solution: Spartech proposed the use of its ReinForce™
warping and distortion after molding a vehicle instrument
product line. This specialty compound offers an exceptional
panel retainer. The OEM had previously molded long glass
amount of stiffness and allows for part designs with thinner
polypropylene for this part, but due to its dimensional
wall thicknesses that can still meet demanding structural
instability and the resulting deformations, a solution was
requirements. The OEM was able to mold the instrument panel
needed to allow for easier vehicle assemblage. Thus, the OEM
retainers using ReinForce™ with minimal changes to their

improved metrology and decreased distortion compared
to the long glass PP. ReinForce™ also allows for a reduction in

Problem: An OEM was experiencing a large amount of
weight and cost due to the decrease in the amount of material
needed.
