Welcome Dauphin Island Sea Lab 2016 Summer Students What is the Dauphin Island Sea Lab? The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is legally known as – Alabama’s Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium (MESC). Founded in 1971 by the Alabama Legislature to maximize the marine sciences capabilities of the state’s institutions of higher learning, both public and private, and to minimize program duplication in higher education.
