A G T O A M e m b e r Tr a c k s Economic Impact Investing in Our Community The personnel at Alabama tracks donate their time and give generously to local non-profit organizations. In 2006, these tracks donated $139,044 to non-profit causes. The taxes paid by the three greyhound racetracks in Alabama – Birmingham (Birmingham Race Course), Mobile (Mobile Greyhound Park) and Shorter (Victoryland) – generate revenue to help pay for critical community services. These three tracks employed 3,403 people and spent more than $14.7 million purchasing goods and services from local businesses. Caring for Our Fast Friends The tracks in Alabama are committed to the welfare of racing greyhounds from the time they are born, through their racing careers and into retirement. In addition to supporting national industry greyhound welfare programs, the tracks in Alabama also sponsor their own welfare programs. In 2006, these three tracks contributed $91,100 to welfare and/or greyhound adoption programs in their local markets. Through their concerted efforts, 429 greyhounds were adopted.
