Economic Impact
Investing in Our Community
The personnel at Iowa tracks donate their time and give generously to
local non-profit organizations. In 2006, these tracks donated
$3,398,077 to hundreds of non-profit causes.
The taxes paid by the two
greyhound racetracks Iowa –
Dubuque (Dubuque Greyhound
Park & Casino) and Bluffs Run
(Bluffs Run Greyhound Park),
generate revenue to help pay for
critical community services. These
two tracks employed 538 people
and spent more than $23 million
purchasing goods and services
from local businesses.
Caring for Our Fast Friends
The tracks in Iowa are committed to the welfare of racing greyhounds
from the time they are born, through their racing careers and into
retirement. In addition to supporting national industry greyhound
welfare programs, the tracks in Iowa also sponsor their own
welfare programs.
In 2006, these two tracks contributed $60,100 to welfare and/or
greyhound adoption programs in their local markets. Through their
concerted efforts, 185 greyhounds found homes as pets.
