Lina is an international singer, songwriter and actress, who boldly discards all artistic blueprints,
achieving an unexpected, brilliantly satisfying musical fusion that makes a musical statement. Thriving
on rich, jazz era orchestration complemented by R&B and hip-hop. In effect, a one woman Harlem
Renaissance, reclaiming decades worth of musical heritage for a new generation. Lina was exposed to
a wide variety of music - classical, choral, opera - and began performing in local talent shows.
Lina made her musical introduction in 2001 with her debut album, "Stranger on Earth". Growing up in a
music filled household, her mother a singer and her father a guitarist, Lina wrote her first song at eight
years old. After cutting a series of demos in an effort to turn other artists on to her songs, Lina had her
first success in 1998, when L.A.-based Tyrese recorded one of her songs for his self-titled debut, which
went platinum. Since then, her songs have been recorded and placed on forthcoming albums, as well
as in films such as HBO's "Disappearing Acts" (2001) and Fox Picture's blockbuster hit "High Crimes"
(2002). Critics praised the disc's bold theme, a syncopation of music past and present: with its
combination of classic and modern sounds.
Lina returned with her sophomore album, “The Inner Beauty Movement” that was released on Hidden
Beach/Moodstar/Universal in 2005 and produced such hits as "Smooth", the steppers anthem and
"Leaving You." She’s garnered rave reviews from the UK’s Sunday Times and Vibe Magazine.
Lina latest album “Morning Star” was released on Lina’s label, Moodstar Recordings with critics raving
about it! “Morning Star” delivered an easy-to-listen-to treasure trove of music that satisfies track after
track. Personal anthems can be found in this work of art, including "Wake Up" and "Breakthrough."
Broken heart therapy is available in the track "Good Day."
Lina has landed many vocal features such as Guess Who, High Crimes, Pluto Nash and This Christmas
where she made a cameo performance singing “Santa Baby. She has shared the stage with, Herby
Hancock, El and Chico Debarge, Brian McKnight, Kem, Stevie Wonder, India Arie, Bilal, Dwele, Angie
Stone, Maze and Frankie Beverly, The Whispers, Joan Osbourne, Omarion, Mike Jones and Mario just
to name a few. Lina's hit single “Around the World” with Anthony Hamilton is quickly becoming a
favorite among neo-soul enthusiasts.

this chick Lina. He said “oh man, she's

called her on the spot, I got on the

school jazz flavor on to, so she was just

I love UNIQUE artists and artists who are not afraid to take RISKS. LINA
came out with her first CD and I fell in love... the r&bish, swingish,
neosoulish, and hiphopish mix she has going on is truly admirable. I really
honestly believe she is not getting 1/10th of the credit she deserves. Her
voice is beautiful and I was so thrilled when her song played at the
beginning of the move High Crimes. She is exceptionally talented and if u
only have the 2nd CD u MUST buy the first or you are missing a unique
treat

I first heard of Lina in February when the buzz was surrounding her on
The Box in the U.K. Her single "Playa No Mo" charted in the Top 30. But
now, its her chance in the U.S. With it, comes the release of her debut.
Although this version does feature new songs, it is also missing some
from the European Version.
Highlights in my opinion are her new song "It's Alright," "Playa No Mo,"
and "Batches." All incorporate
Jazz styles popular during the first half of the twentieth century, plus r&b
and hip hop. Great mixture leads to a great CD.
