You may fax it to 956-427-3572 OR email to [email protected] AND [email protected] UIL Constitution and Contest Rules As a reminder please review online the music section of the UIL C&CR (Constitution and Contest Rules) at www.uiltexas.org/music, Contest Information, Concert and Sight-reading Contest In middle, under Resources and Forms, see Sight-reading procedures and specific division (B, C, O) information. On right side, see Performance requirements for division and level (SNV, NV and V), and Sight-reading criteria for division and level Under Constitution and Concert Rules, see section 1110, 1111, and 1112. Bus Drop Off & Parking Please see the map provided. Your buses will drop off directly in front of the PAC in the circular drive. After students have unloaded, your buses will move to the parking area in front lot closest to Wilson Rd. Your students will enter the PAC through the lobby in the front of building where you will be assigned a designated greeter. Choirs must wait in the lobby or enter the performance hall to listen, until called to move to warm-up. Contest Office Upon arrival, please report to the contest office and submit the following items: You must submit 3 sets of original scores with the measures numbered, clearly marked with your school name. Updated Form 1 Any late checks Copies of any emails or letters of permission regarding any student’s special disabilities considerations, permissions from Dr. Kent in UIL office, etc. Bring a back-up copy of your announcer script with you to the contest office. 2 Warm-Up Room: (Blue Room) Your warm-up time begins when the monitor says “You may enter the room for warm-up…” Time does not begin when you sing your first note. There will be some music stands, some chairs, seven sections of choral risers and an upright piano in the warm-up room for you. Stage Equipment: The following equipment will be on the stage: 7 sections of choral risers, 7 acoustical shell sections, a music stand for the director, and the grand piano. There will be racks of music stands and chairs in the stage right wing area if you are in need of additional stage set up. Sight-reading Room: (Gold Room) We will be utilizing an online, digital stop-watch which will be displayed on the TV monitors opposite the judges and conductor in the sight-reading room. Please warn your students not to turn around to look at the monitors during sight-reading. As per UIL rules, you may also request verbal warnings. After your performance: Ratings will be posted in the Lobby of the Performing Arts Center. You may pick up your director’s packet (scores, CD, ratings, etc.) approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of your performance in the contest office. If your ensemble plans to attend UIL performances, please remind them of proper concert etiquette and that no food or drink is allowed inside the performance hall. When you leave the PAC, you may have your bus pull into the circular drive. No concession sales will take place at the PAC. The following exceptions will apply: Foods may be served (not sold) to visiting judges, directors, guest speakers, guest conductors, and those working at the Region or UIL in the Lobby or Green Room. Organizations are permitted to feed lunch or dinner in designated areas at the Performing Arts Center, to their students or performers (items served to them, not sold to them), when there are occupying the PAC for long hours such as during long rehearsals, Region Clinic and Concert, volunteers working at UIL contests, ensembles participating in UIL C&SR, UIL One Act Play, etc. Foods, beverages, and gum are not permitted inside the auditorium, on the stage, in the technical control booth areas, back halls, multi-purpose rooms, dressing rooms, or restrooms. Exception: UIL Judges are permitted to have snacks and beverages at their judging station. All food and beverage trash must be disposed of in trash cans and may not litter the facility or grounds. Where can we feed our students? - - - Students or performers eating at the PAC must eat outside at picnic tables, other outdoor areas; or they may eat in lobby (only) in cases of bad weather. Outdoor picnic tables are available for guest use on a first come, first serve basis. Sponsors may take their student groups to the nearby park/pavilion and picnic areas behind Gutierrez M.S. Please see a listing of local restaurants on our website: www.hcisdpac.org, under “Performing Arts Center” Student performers may not eat in the multipurpose rooms, dock, or in the dressing rooms, or any portion of the building beyond the lobby. Foods not permitted - Absolutely no gum No sunflower seeds or other type of seeds, nuts or popcorn No small candies (i.e. hard candies) No nachos, cheese sauces, or any other types of sticky foods. City Food Permit - The Performing Arts Center kitchen is not properly equipped to apply to the city for a food permit. Concession sales are prohibited at the Performing Arts Center. Food Delivery at the PAC - When a sponsor or director needs to have a large food order delivered to the PAC, please make - arrangements to meet the delivery driver in the lobby, in front of the PAC, or in the parking lot. Please instruct delivery drivers not to use the circular drive as we need this to be available for busses. The UIL contest office, contest officials, and other event workers are not responsible for paying for your order, holding your order for you, or completing the delivery for you.
