A MESSAGE FROM TED VARTY
EHA PRESIDENT, 2012-2013
Welcome to the Erindale Hockey Association. I am truly honored to be part of
such a dedicated, passionate, and talented group of volunteers here at Erindale.
I can still remember the early days and my first exposure to this great association, lining up with all the other families in the stairwells at EMTR to hopefully
get a spot in the coveted IP program. I never dreamed that things would lead to
this.
The Erindale Hockey Association (EHA) was formed in 1946 by Mr. Wally
Oughtred and his brother Gord. The Erindale logo includes the famous RAF
Spitfire. The Spitfire symbolizes skill, determination, and a never quit attitude,
the very attributes that EHA strives to instill in its players and coaches.
At Erindale hockey, our motto is “skill, determination and a never quit attitude.” This motto runs through the entire association from our 100% volunteerrun board of directors to our volunteer coaches right down to our cherished
players.
Our goal year to year is to ensure that each and every one of our players and
families have a successful hockey experience. Erindale encourages all of our
players, coaches, and families to learn about teamwork, dedication, fitness, fair
play and to develop community spirit and involvement amongst all of our participants.
EHA Pins are available for
teams
looking to trade pins at
tournaments. Teams will be
invoiced for their order
($1.30 per).

Erindale believes in teaching all players and coaches respect for all those involved in this great game of hockey: game officials, opposing coaches and
players, parents from all teams, of course teammates, and most importantly for
themselves.
Thanks for choosing the Erindale Hockey Association and we will strive to
make this a memorable and pleasant hockey experience.
Yours in hockey,
Ted Varty – President
Erindale Hockey association

CAN YOU SPONSOR A TEAM??
Sponsorship dollars are used to subsidize the cost of Erindale’s
MHL team registration fees as well as the cost of uniforms, ice and
equipment. With almost 70 teams being iced this year, the requirement for sponsorship is greater than ever.
If you or your company can sponsor a team or you know someone
who can, please contact:
Brian Wernham at: [email protected]

ERINDALE HONORS CARY LEON AND BOB ROBERTSON
WITH COVETED JOHN MCCREATH AWARD
The John McCreath Award for Coaching Excellence is named in honour of John McCreath in recognition of his commitment and dedication to the ideals of fair play and coaching skills in minor
hockey. This award is intended to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to the
development of young hockey players. Our two recipients this year are Cary Leon and Bob
Robertson.
Cary Leon has coached at Erindale for 14 years and served as Convenor, Convenor Mentor and
Chair of the Chevrolet Fun Day. He also coaches baseball and is active in Scouting in the community.
Bob Robertson has coached at Erindale for 13 years and also has served as Convenor. He enjoys
coaching and mentoring the Blue and Green levels. He returned to the EHA Board of Directors as
our IP Convenor and is vey “hands-on”.
Both gentlemen completely demonstrate the motto: “Skill, Determination, Never Quit Attitude” and
are very deserving of this honour. Congratulations to both!
