MALAKOFF IKAN SIAKAP INITIATIVE

Objective
Working with the Fisheries Department, the
Malakoff Ikan Siakap Initiative has been
conceived to provide a boost to the livehood of
local fishermen as well as to rehabilitate the
ecosystem of the tributaries of Sungai Pulai.
Why Ikan Siakap
Ikan Siakap species has been identified as having the highest
survival rate of up to 70% compared to other commercially
viable fishes.
Three areas have been identified to release the fry: Sungai
Karang, Sungai Redan and Sungai Jeram Batu.
A total of 40, 000 fry will be released in the identified areas.
The Company will be investing RM 70, 000 for this initiative.
This Initiative will benefit a total of 250 fishermen in the area
and when successful will raise their revenue by upto 40%.
