FOREWORD
We have learnt, over the past 30 years, that music has so many
different faces and meanings. That is why we decided to
discover all of them. From Iggy Pop to Petula Clark, Lio,
Desireless, Jeanne Mas, Nashville Pussy, Francis Lai or Michel
Legrand, from John Cale (ex Velvet Underground) to Francis
Lalanne, from the Bolshoi Theater to the Rolling Bidochons,
Dashiell Hedayat to the Red Army Choir, we love to explore all kinds!
If there was only one word to describe us, it would be
“faithfulness”. We always have been faithful to our friends, our
artists, our suppliers and our partners but, above all, our
vocation which was born on one fine day in 1981 in the 14th
district of Paris : “independent to the bone and proud to be so!”.
Our very first release was a luxurious re-issue of a cult garage
band named “Mouse’n the Traps” which was not as successful
as we would have expected but we didn’t lose hope and we kept
and still keep on working on our next releases which, hopefully,
will become yours soon.
We are now celebrating our 30 birthday and are looking ahead
for the next 30 years and beyond! It will be a long path with many
barriers but still so exciting that we are definitely looking
forward to go on! As we hope to become centenaries, the way is
still quite long, we will undoubtedly face some obstacles, but so
enthralling to traverse that we are already impatient of living
those next adventures. More than ever we are determined to
carry on being the smart alternative for artists looking for a
record company with the reputation of a major but like the
Bonsai Tree: Small and yet strong as an oak.

FGL’S STORY & TEAM
1981 to 1988:
1991 to 1995:
Creation of the company by three friends who are, above all, music
collectors (hence the company name “F.G.L.” - the initials of the last
names of each of the creators).
For the last decade of the twentieth century, FGL would inaugurate
several new labels, and notably “Play-Time,” which was consecrated
to film music (above all, the biggest French composers) and
successfully re-edited several original recordings, like those of “Peau
d'Âne (Mule Hide),” from Michel Legrand. Very soon after, the label
became equally focused on the music from television series. They
were the first to offer the theme songs from the best French and
international series (after signing an exclusive contract with TVT
Records).
Foundation of the labels “Eva (Mouse on the Traps)” and “Lolita” then the
re-edition of the most memorable hours of underground rock in the US
and England in the 50’s and 60’s. These labels offered, among others,
sumptuous editions of discs (on Lolita) “Dr. Feelgood”, “The Plimsouls”,
“The Inmates”, and the famous collection of “Sound of Sixties”, “Other
Half”, “Texas Punk”, “Sixties Archives” (on Eva). At the same time, the
label “Axe Killer” was born, offering incredible productions of hard rock,
most of which are today researched by specialized collectors.
1988 to 1990:
At the urging of the biggest French specialist of Detroit rock, the Stooges
and of Iggy Pop (Bernard Cosmic Masanes), we saw the creation of the
label “Revenge”. This label contributed, in no small part, to the grand
return of the godfather of punk (Iggy Pop), and re-edited the most rare
documents of the best gangs of the “MotorCity,” such as "MC5”,
“Flamin’Groovies”, “The Stooges”, “New Race”, “Destroy All Monsters”.
The same year, the label “Mantra” was born, and soon after offered a
rich catalogue dedicated to progressive music, considering the best
recordings of Gong, Amon Duul, Dashiell Hedayat and Tim Blake, to
name a few. They were concurrently interested with contemporary
music and artist including Pierre Henry and Art Zoyd, followed by the reedition of the best titles of the catalogues of Saravah (Jacques Higelin,
Carole Laure, Brigitte Fontaine).
With the arrival of the 90's (having already attained an important
success with the second “concept album” from the “Rolling Bidochons,”
which garnered the gold album award), the company turned toward the
re-edition and production of the best French rock groups, such as
“Cyclope”, “Les Têtes Raides”, “Le Cri de la Mouche”, “Parabellum”,
etc. During this period, the company would also re-edit the best
recordings from the catalogues of Madrigal, Saravah, and Shandar.

At the same time, FGL was developing their catalogues of French
songs (re-editing the most beautiful pages of our heritage at the heart
of it's label Orphée), and offered several beautiful collections of salon
dance music (La Collection Dansez) with their new label dedicated to
this genre, “Swingmania”. Concurrently, via the signing of several
British and American companies, FGL procured the rights to
numerous catalogues, and became owner of a large back catalogue
that regrouped several important French variety artists (Lio, Robert
Charlebois, Hervé Cristiani, Pierre Vassiliu, Jesse Garon, Catherine
Ribeiro, Eric Morena, etc.) as well as international variety (Petula
Clark, Gloria Gaynor, Amanda Lear), etc.
FGL acquired, as well, the rights to one of the most prestigious
catalogues of classical music, “La Guilde International du Disque”
(The International Guild of Records). Hence, FGL became one of the
most important independent sources which attracted the biggest
collectors and compilers of the planet for their compilation projects.
1996 to 1998:
Strong from the success of the labels (Play-Time, Mantra) our
structure moved toward other musical genres that had been more or
less abandoned by other companies. We relaunched “Axe Killer” and
concentrated our efforts (with prestigious re-editions of albums from
Scorpions, Whitesnake, Queensryche, Gary Moore, etc.) as well as
some of the smaller, but equally important international groups (Great
White, The Angels, Nashville Pussy etc). Quickly, the label became one
of the most important references for heavy metal enthusiasts
worldwide. In a different style, FGL opened a new sector, dedicated to
offering deluxe editions of French and international variety.
“Anthology's” offers the most luxurious anthologies of Petula Clark,
Adamo, Marilyn Monroe, etc.
1998 to 2011:
With the label Remedy, dedicated to today’s rock stage, Revenge is still
focusing on 70’s and 80’s, and we still offer luxurious editions of Iggy
Pop and Lords of the New Church. And new productions like Tito and
Tarantula (discovered by Quentin Tarentino). At the beginning of 1999,
we inaugurated our own internet site (www.fglmusic.com) which offers
to the public online sales and specialties, like listening to new titles,
news, concerts, etc. At the same time, strengthened by our past
experience, we developped a catalogue of world music (becoming the
exclusive producer worldwide, of the famous Bolchoi Orchestra and
the Red Army Choir) and created a label for that genre (Kosmos).
Kosmos quickly became an indispensible brand in world music.
In order to manage our quickly- developing world market, we opened
an office in Moscow (situated on the famous street “Arbat”) and
recentely in new york and London with our local partners. All the
while, our quality work has become more and more appreciated. We
are developping our exchanges, and are now well installed in South
East Asia with one office based in Bangkok. Our music and Video
productions are now worldwide available for licensing (DVD) or
broadcast. FGL celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2006 and his already
preparing the next 25 years!
For a few years, FGL PRODUCTIONS has no longer been just a
recording company but has also become a new player in
synchronization for image and advertisement. Today, FGL goes
further by entering the market of feature films and movie theatres.
After signing contracts with movie production companies, FGL is now
collaborating with the creation, the production and the shooting of
several international feature films.

Before taking charge of the fate of our
company, he was in turn, the youngest
ever producer of Radio in France, and
director of programming for several
pioneer FM stations. Following that
success, he became creative editor for
one of the biggest telemarketing
companies, and founder of companies
involved in the establishment of
network servers for the “Minitel”, (the
French precursur to the internet) and
telephone service (“Kiosque”). He is the
author of several works (books of art,
popularisation of life sciences, humor,
and current events), and albums
(which include several gold records,
for numerous concepts) - among them,
“Les Bidochons”, in which he is also the
performer. He alternates his functions as
artist,manager,andcreatorattheheartof
the company he has directed since 1990.
In 1990, after graduating high school
with a diploma specialized in
philosophy, Nathalie entered college,
with the goal of a 4 years degree in
economy and management. One year
later, she accepted an internship, and
thus, became acquainted with FGL.
Seduced by the groove of the music
world, she decided to stay. Her first
responsibility was the management of
stock, and planning disc manufacture.
Naturally, she gravitated toward
accounting, and finally returned to
duties more befitting her original
aspirations. After that she deciphers
the language of numbers in general,
and musical royalties in particular,
since 20 years (already?!) the energy
necessary on the administrative side,
for the continued progress of FGL.
After graduating high school with
a diploma specializing in Math
and Philosophy, Céline discovered
accounting, which she studied for the
2 years that followed. Already
attracted by humanitarian aid, she
became the assistant accountant for
“Enfants Réfugiés du Monde
(Refugee Children of the World)”.
Her passion for success was such
that she simultaneously prepared a
D.U.T. (the equivalent of a “Master's”)
in accounting, management, and
administration with night courses at
the “Conservatoire National des Arts
& Métiers (National Conservatory
of Arts and Careers)”. In 1996 she
joined the company, and took on, with
zeal, the responsibility of sales by
correspondance. She is equally our
liason with the societies authors and
producers, of which we are members.
Catdiêm started her career in
Public Relations: she managed
during several years the famous
ASIAN Club on Avenue George V in
Paris and then organised some of
the most glamourous parisian
parties… Notably the well-known
“Asia Folies” which has made the
city dance to the sound of the
best asian DJ’s since 15 years.
Graduated from high school at
sixteen, Florestan leaves the
european continent for the USA
(Oregon) during one year, as an
exchange student, where he dives
totally into a different culture and
language. After this trip, he prepares
a DUT (Two-year Technical Degree)
Techniques of Marketing and
decides, after obtaining his diploma,
to come to Paris to integrate a
school of communication. Further to
some experiences in the musical
domain (in particular at the
associative level), he joins the FGL
team at the beginning of the year
2010, where he can learn and
discover the threads of this job.
He is since a project manager and
in charge of the development of the
new medias.
Informed musicologist and film
score specialist, Stéphane has
been the consultant for the label
"Play-Time," since its creation in
1993, as well as heading the
department of musicology for the
University of Paris from 1992 to
2005. He is a leading biographer for
numerous film score composers,
such as Michel Legrand, George
Delerue, and Vladimir Cosma.
Today, Stéphane is the musical
director of the International Music
and Cinema Festival, held annually
in Auxerre, France.
Cat is now in charge of the
mail-order service at FGL and
development of special operations
dedicated to our cinema and TV
industries activities. She also
contributes to the promotion
management of our artists.

With now 30 years of experience in the music industry,
FGL PRODUCTIONS has compiled a wide repertoire available to
film directors, music supervisors and advertising agencies,
offering many possibilities for synchronization.
Our company has thus contributed to the success of many
advertsing campaigns and movie soundtracks. We offer
opportunities to creatives, directors and producers in order for
them to reinforce the power of their movies and advertising
campaigns. Our repertoire is very wide, which lets us create a
real musical identity for all the productions that have called
upon us. As we always have been able to adjust easily,
we comply perfectly to every demand and need the postsynchronization world might require.
Our heart beats with the action and the plot of synopsis.
The impact of the image on the viewer rises: messages become
and remain unforgettable. Our database contains more than
30,000 titles, excluding our international partners’ tracks.
Our mission today is also to create original music specially
dedicated to campaigns, following the schedule of advertisers
and movie production companies. Our activities among
advertising or cinema mean we have found our place in the new
proactive sector of synchronization in France. It’s a new and
totally independent alternative for creators and directors to use
in their everyday work: a way to react to their demands in a very
short time, free of licensing complexities.

FGL offers you a wide selection of the best French musicals
whose reputation has now extended beyond our borders. Thus
the famous stage adaptations of Victor Hugo’s novel by Alain
Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg: “Les Misérables”. The
duo had previously written the first rock opera of history: “La
Révolution Française” (The French Revolution). Furthermore
cinema is not forgotten with the adapatation of Charles
Perrault’s tale, set to music by Michel Legrand: “Peau d’Âne”
(Donkey Skin).

(video clip) and even several documentary series.

CHOIR
Nowadays, The Red Army Choir are one of the artistic jewels of the
Russian Federation, but beyond that, these famous choirs have
become universally known, gaining an incredible reputation for their
vocal power. A first ensemble was founded in 1929 and directed by
Alexander Alexandrov and then by his son Boris. In 1939, was found
The Red Army Choir and Ballet Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior.
Those two ensembles are the only states groups which was elevated
to the rank of Academy! First supporting the morale of Russian
soldiers during World War II, especially on the Eastern Front, the MVD
Academic Ensemble and Alexandrov Ensemble has toured on stages
around the world. During these past 30 years, the MVD Academic
Ensemble have given more than 7,000 representations, in many
languages, in front of more than 20 million enthusiastic spectators.
Under the direction of their charismatic conductor General
Viktor Eliseev, the MVD Ensemble has performed in more than
50 countries and on the most prestigious stages in China,
Japan, Korea, Australia, Germany, France…
As the only Ensemble to receive the “Platinium Star” on the walk of
fame dedicated to the greatest Russian artists, the academy has more
than 300 artists (musicians, singers and dancers) of which 50 of them
have received the supreme title of “Artist of Honor or Skilled Artist of
Russia” (in France it would be Knight of the Arts and Literature Order
and the Legion of Honour). The MVD Red Army Choir Ensemble is
also the group who performed in front of Pope Jean-Paul II in Rome
during the nomination of Boris Yeltsin and then Vladimir Putin and
also for the opening of the Moscow Olympic Games. During the year
of Russia in France, the ensemble has triumphed on all stages of
France in front of more than 200,000 spectators!
General Viktor Eliseev also teaches at the prestigious
Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow. Under his direction, the
MVD Red Army Choir became the most famous and well-known
Russian ensemble on the planet.
Thanks to the charisma and the eclecticism of his conductor who
skillfully blends the melodies of traditional Russian folklore, songs of the
great patriotic war and the most famous classical tunes or international
variety. The MVD Red Army Choir Ensemble is a part, as well as the
Bolshoi, the largest Russian show and is a world art treasure!

As with certain books of art, sometimes you can fall on real
anthology works of the major artists which had remained secret
until someone found those rare and forgotten pearls, just next to the
unforgettable songs. That is why the label Anthology’s was meant to
be. To put on CDs all of these great eras of French music and make
it accessible for the collectors and the public with the most
prestigious recordings and unsurpassed quality. These compact
discs include all the original recordings, digitally transferred and
entirely remastered (often complemented with bonus tracks, not
found elsewhere). The texts of the booklets contain all the
necessary information (biographies, lyrics…) written by specialists
who know the artists and their works.
Recently inaugurated with the re-issues of the two original discs
dedicated to Petula Clark, Anthology’s received the first prize for the
re-edition of the year, 1998, for this golden work, and successively,
in 1999, the four keys, prize from Telerama for recognition of the
first anthology in honor of the Charlots. Besides, the re-editions of
the Charlots, “Interdits” (Forbidden), and also our famous
collections “Femmes de Paris” and “Gentlemen de Paris”…

After re-editing the masterpieces of thrash metal of the 80s
(Destruction, Artillery Assassin, Dark Angel), then leaning towards
Hexagonal Metal (Sortilege, Ocean), Axe Killer proceeded toward the
re-edition of the majors of Heavy Rock of the last 20 years (Giuffria,
House of Lords, Poison, Great White, Saxon, Whitesnake).
All of these groups got their-second wind, thanks to the remastered
pressing, the documented booklets, the unedited photos, and
complete biographies. Demanded by their loyal fans, all these discs
