Arovit Petfood
Quality is the mainstay of
Arovit Petfood
Susanne Lund, Quality Manager at Arovit Petfood in
Vejen, Denmark, pictured together with the quality certificates obtained by Arovit Petfood:
▪ IFS Certificate- German food standard
▪ BRC Certificate – British food standard
▪ Environmental Certificate - The certificate of Miljønetværk Syd (Environmental Network South)
These certificates are based on the company’s general
objectives regarding quality, expressed like this:
”Quality and environment are the mainstay of our company and are top priority when it comes to dealing with
customers, staff, suppliers and distributors. This is effected
by the production of quality products that constantly
meet the current rules and regulations and production
is focused on and in accordance with agreed customer
specifications”
Quality Manager, Susanne Lund, Arovit Petfood:
”WITH QASI WE CAN ENSURE AND
PROVE THAT WE MEET MORE THAN 500
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS”
”We produce cat and dog feed for a large number
of other companies that sell it worldwide as their own
products or as private labels. They are customers who
require as high product quality as if it were food for
human beings; and so do the authorities in many
countries. We are lucky to have our QASI system to
help us meet these demands.”
packaging etc. As a typical example of these quality
requirements, Ms Lund mentions the fact that all dry
feed must be pressed through an extruder in a matrix,
which moulds the food into small pieces shaped as,
for example, hearts, fish and lozenges, at the correct
pressure and speed and in a certain form and size,
depending on customer requirements.
So Susanne Lund, Quality Manager at Arovit Petfood in Vejen, Denmark, which produces more than
25,000 tonnes annually of pet feed, which turns into
some 300 different dry feed products for cats and
dogs.
Another requirement made by the authorities is, for
example, that all products must be sterilised by heating up to 90 degrees C.
The companies to which Arovit Petfood supplies private labels, are customers that require a high quality
standard, not only in the end products but also in the
raw materials from which they are made, as well as
regarding the conditions under which the products
are made, such as temperature, weight, cleaning,

And so there are plenty of tasks to be performed
regarding monitoring, regulating and registering production. Tasks that are described thoroughly in
the company’s electronic quality manual
and the corresponding control forms.

And so the central advantage of
the QASI system is that it makes it
much easier to perform the daily
tasks of measuring and controlling
the quality level throughout the
production process, from receiving raw materials to shipping the
products.
QASI SYSTEM FOR ALL TASKS
The quality QASI Control System is used for all these
tasks, a system with which Ms Lund and all staff at
Arovit Petfood are very happy.
Arovit Petfood
– leading manufacturer of private label pet food
Starting as a company with only one staff in the
1960s, Arovit Petfood has grown to become
one of the world’s leading manufacturers of
food for cats and dogs, with headquarters in
Esbjerg, Denmark, and production units in several countries. Production is private labels, which
means the customers’ own recipes are generally
used and their names are on the packaging.
So Arovit Petfood does not have its own label
or sales departments for direct sales.
Arovit Petfood is a private company with more
than 500 staff. In the fiscal year of 2010 turnover was 1.3 bn DKK.

”We have to meet a huge number of quality requirements from customers as well as from the authorities
and the three international agencies from which we
have received quality certifications as proof of our
meeting the IFS and BRC standards. I have personally counted more than 500 specific, measurable
demands. Therefore, the central advantage of the
QASI system is that it makes it much easier and
quicker for us to perform the daily tasks of measuring and controlling the quality level throughout the
production process, from receiving raw materials to
shipping the finished products. Today we do this job
quickly and efficiently with a minimum of errors and
completely paperless in one system. In this way, it is
easy for us to prove our quality levels when we are
audited or recertified by the assessors from the three
quality agencies,” said Ms Lund.
A further advantage of the QASI System is its integration with Arovit’s ERP System from Movex as well
as its order control system from Operator.
Ms Lund underlines the fact that not only staff at Arovit
Petfood are praising the QASI System:
“We have been certified in quality by Norwegian
Veritas and they have often praised the QASI System
highly when visiting our company for assessments of
our quality control. We take this as another proof of us
using the best product in the market.”
