Handwriting recognition built into Mac OS® X Leopard® converts
handwriting into printed text in every application and provides
extended system control through gesture recognition.
Designed in California by Axiotron’s team of American and German
engineers, the Modbook comes standard with built-in iSight® camera, integrated 24x Combo drive or 8x SuperDrive and full Apple
MacBook connectivity via Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, FireWire® 400,
Bluetooth™ 2.0 and AirPort Extreme®.
The Modbook is the only portable Mac solution that also features a

The Modbook uses Penabled® digitizer technology from Wacom®, the industry leader in graphics tablets for professional artists. The Axiotron Digitizer
Pen provides an intuitive, comfortable and flexible way to control your digital
environment.
As you draw in applications such as Adobe® Photoshop® and Corel® Painter™
the pen’s 512 levels of pressure sensitivity – twice the capability of any tablet
PC – deliver precise and delicate control of renderings. The Axiotron Digitizer
Pen is:
• Fast - 133 position updates per second
• Accurate - 20x display resolution
• Sensitive - 512 levels of pressure sensitivity
• Efficient - No batteries required
The included Axiotron Digitizer Pen features two programmable side buttons,
plus a digital eraser. Also included are eleven replaceable pen tips in three
versions: a spring-loaded Studio Nib (x3); a Pencil Nib (x3); and a Felt Nib (x5).
Unlike a touchscreen, users can work with the pen while their hand rests on
the Modbook’s screen. The pen needs no batteries and always feels light
and nimble. Radio-based digitizer technology allows control of the cursor as
the pen hovers over the screen, creating an intuitive, mouse-like interface.
The Axiotron Modbook is fully compatible with Apple Inkwell®, a Mac OS X Leopard feature that provides
system-level handwriting and gesture recognition instantly to all Mac applications. Axiotron Quickclicks™ software
permits users to quickly input passwords and special characters or execute shortcuts and macros. Users can
also connect a standard keyboard and mouse via USB or Bluetooth.

Elegant Design, Quality Materials
Both the Axiotron Modbook’s top shell
and interior display frame are built from
top-grade aircraft quality magnesium
alloy, giving the Modbook its superior
structural strength.
Unlike the anodized aluminum used in
most computers, the Modbook’s tough
magnesium top shell is protected by a
triple layer of metal plating – nickel over
copper and topped with chrome – offering a scratch-resistant and aesthetically
pleasing surface.
The Axiotron Modbook uses the iSight
camera of its Apple MacBook base
system. On the Modbook it is mounted
with a downward tilt of five degrees to
better frame the face of the user (i.e.,
when using iChat®).

Global Positioning System (GPS)
The Modbook is the only
portable Mac solution that
features a built-in Global
Positioning System (GPS) for
outdoor use. The Axiotron GPS Module is
based on the industry leading SiRFstarIII™
chipset for faster first location fix times
and improved tracking in challenging
outdoor environments.
Both the LCD panel and built-in iSight
camera are protected by chemically
strengthened Axiotron ForceGlass™.
Compared to cheaper plastic solutions
found in most tablet computers, ForceGlass provides superior optical, anti-aging and scratch resistance properties.
An anti-reflective coating on the inwardfacing side of the ForceGlass screen
cover increases light transmissivity for
a brighter image. The outward-facing
side has been acid treated to achieve
an etched surface calibrated to match
the display resolution, eliminating
“sparkle” effects and providing a crisp,
paper-like writing sensation.
