Have a Taste of Blue Ridge. 3. # Shopping. Fall in Love with Blue Ridge. You will fall in love with the authentic mountain towns of Blue Ridge and McCaysville. Blue Ridge was once considered an elite health resort because of its pure mineral waters. It was established as a railroad town, with the depot at its heart. Visitors would ride the train to town, eat dinner and take a leisurely walk to the mineral springs after dinner. Today, visitors still ride the train and take a walk along Main Street, enjoying the antique and specialty shops, galleries, restaurants, small town atmosphere and friendly people. A river runs through the quaint town of McCaysville, twin city with Copperhill, Tennessee. Stand in both states at one time at the Blue Line, which marks the spot where Georgia ends and Tennessee begins. Here the Toccoa River becomes the Ocoee River, flowing northward into Tennessee. Cool Places The Art Center Featuring the Galleries on East Main and seasonal rotating exhibits of work by local and regional artists. The Art Center is located in the Historic Fannin County Courthouse in downtown Blue Ridge. Explore the Blue Ridge Art Trail! See their website at www.blueridgearts.net. Experiencing local cuisine is part of the trip when you visit Georgia’s Blue Ridge. Now, with the addition of some wonderful new restaurants, the choices of dining spots are simply amazing, from gourmet to traditional Southern cuisine. There are some things you just have to eat when you come to the mountains, including local mountain trout, barbeque and Brunswick Stew, grits and homemade biscuits. But there are also some fabulous eclectic new places to experience. See a full list of restaurants in the Vacation Planner or online at www.blueridge mountains.com.
