The office will be open as normal from Wednesday, 15 January from 07:30 – 14:00. 2014 STATIONERY ALTERNATIVES: GRADE R AND 1 2014 2014 Stationery lists for Grade 4 – 7 learners have been distributed and are available on the School Communicator and website. Certain brands were listed because of their quality and durability. Staedtler Brand Pencils listed are a must as they last longer especially after being dropped. For our learners who have been accepted into Grade R and 1 in 2014, including our current Grade R’s - letters regarding the getto-know the school party and first day of school information are available at Reception or from our web page www.glenstantia.co.za or www.school-communicator.com Other items such as Glue Sticks and enclosed pencil sharpeners need to be of good quality, the brand names mentioned on the list are some of the brands known for their quality. Please do not buy the cheapest item (e.g. cheap glue sticks used to stick pages in become unstuck over a short period of time and pages fall out). PROJECTS / HOMEWORK / BOOKS No learner will be allowed to print out projects or any homework on the day they are due. No projects emailed to the school will be printed and no exceptions will be made. Should your child require printing, this can be arranged with Mrs Uys or Mrs Nieuwoudt in the Computer Centre. Please plan ahead as printing should be done at least 2 days prior to the project being due. Learners will NOT be allowed to phone parents to bring forgotten books, homework or projects etc. We strongly recommend that your child be given a phone card for this purpose. The decision to “drop off” the project or homework or book remains with the parent. Should you decide to drop off the item, the child will only be called down at break to collect as we will not interrupt a lesson for this tardiness. 3 GENERAL ASSISTANT CHRISTMAS HAMPERS We have a long standing tradition at Glenstantia Primary of giving our General Assistant staff Christmas hampers at the end of the year. We again ask parents to please donate items of nonperishable food for these hampers, which are always very gratefully received. We also ask that you donate 250g packets instead of 2,5kg packs as it can become challenging to share the items equally. We currently have 12 GA staff members. The following items will be welcome: Canned fruit, canned veggies, maize meal, rice, pasta, sugar, tea, coffee, long life milk, mix cold drink, treats for the children, custard, soup, etc. ACHIEVEMENTS EX-PUPILS FROM GLENSTANTIA We are very proud of our ex-learners who leave Glenstantia to progress to High School.
