Mbilana Primary School was awarded a bronze trophy in 2008/9 and silver trophy in 2009/10 because
it intentionally strives to implement the Batho Pele
Principles with a view to providing quality services
to its clientele at all times. In 2009 the school published the first of edition of an annual year book
that documents the progress of their learners, educators and its broader community.
The MEC for Education, Mr ES Mchunu invites all
educational institutions and service points within
the Department to participate in the 2011 KZNDoE
SEAScheme. The closing date is 18 November 2011.

ast year’s excited Gold Winners in the KZN
Department of Education’s Service Excellence
Award was Mbilana Primary School. The Principal,
Mrs LH Mncwango and staff were over the moon
when the announcement was made. The school is
located on Rietvlei No. 150, in Umfolozi Ward-B
Vryheid District. The school was established in
1994 in a disused building of Tselentis Coal Mine.
The school opened its doors with four educators,

four classrooms and one hundred learners, from kzneducation.gov.za as well as at all service points

and seventy learners. The school’s vision of providing quality, relevant and excellent education to
our learners is evident in the increasing number
of learners who make it to Matric and even to
tertiary level. Our strength as a school is evidenced by the increasing enrolment of learners
every year.

and working, hence it has been accredited with
the status of a health promoting school.
