Funäsfjällen area is located in the western part of the county Härjedalen, Sweden. Funäsdalen , the largest village in Funäsfjällen, is located only 40 km from the Norwegian boarder and 70 km from the town of Röros in Norway. Röros is listed
among UNESCO´s World Heritage Sites and is a unique manifestation of a mining community based in a severe climatic
condition
The western part of Härjedalen is a settled area with a long historical culture. Funäsdalen has approximately 2000 inhabitants with income mainly based around agriculture and forestry, reindeer industry, public sector and service. However,
tourism represents the main part of employment directly and indirectly.

Summer
The summer in Funäsfjällen is magical and contradictory. On the one hand, a dazzling wilderness – maybe one of
Sweden´s most beautiful – with tall mountains, hidden valleys, untouched rivers, creeks and lake systems abounding with fish. You can travel for days without meeting other people. On the other hand, this mountainous area is
easily accessible and it is never far to good service. We have one fishing license for over 200 tarns and 300 km of
streaming waters. In Funäsfjällen you can do MTB, riding, canoeing, hiking, climbing and a lot more activities. A
guided tour at Musk-ox centre is one thing you must do.

There are many places worth visiting during your stay. For example there are two Sámi villages in the area of Funäsdalen;
Miehte in Mittådalen and Ruvhten Sitje in Tännäs. Here you can see reindeers and an outdoor exhibition of Sami life. The
Sami handicraft boasts a ver high standard and in Mittådalen there is a small shop with handicraft and a café. You have to
visit “Flatruet”, the highest situated road in Sweden and the Rogen area, where hiking and canoeing is just magical. Guided
tours in Mysk Ox Centrum in Tännäs is very interesting.

LOPME NAESTIE is a traditional Sami festival in the beginning of March. Lopme Naestie means “snowflake” in Sami
language. In Risnäset, Funäsdalen a small Sami village with huts has been built. Here you can experience Sami trade, song,
jojk, fashion shows and a lot more during the week
BRUKSVALLARNA GAME FAIR
RÖROS FAIR, in the middle of February. After the royal decree of 1853, the Rörosmartnan is held during February
each year. A tremendous opening ceremony, with 80 horses and equipage, heralds the start of a five day interaction
