All Rights Reserved. 4 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Special Report IKCO Scheme Demonstrated in the Iran Khodro Industrial Group CEO drew the New Year’s scheme as new Iranian cars development, global sale boost and customer satisfaction, meeting this year’s motto, i.e. «National production, Iranian capital and work protection». During the New Iranian Year’s ceremony, IKCO CEO addressed the company’s staff and declared, «We need to accelerate the work trend in production, after sale services, global sale, new cars development, customer satisfaction and cost reduction.» He also added protecting national production is considered as the main strategy to fight back international sanctions against Iran and claimed, «We also need to move forward full-powered to improve domestic production and supply chain, leading us to the 100% design and development of car parts and components. Running up fuel efficient cars production, commitment to euro IV environmental standards and expansion of domestic and international markets are some of other plans included in IKCO’s roadmap for this year. Iran Khodro Industrial Group CEO pointed out the necessity of promoting customer satisfaction and beneficiaries’ interest and added, «During past years, IKCO gained about 50% of domestic market share.» «Setting a new record in production and sales, establishing quality supreme committee as well as the leap in products quality were some of IKCO achievements in the past years,» said Najmeddin and added, «last year, there was an upgrade in all IKCO products› quality.» The industrial man referred to a comprehensive aftersales service as the customer’s main requirement and added, «In 2011 after-sales service network expanded and in 2012 the quality of services will be soared up.» Referring to the mass production of Runna and Dena sedans respectively by the end of the 1Q and the end of this Iranian year (i.e. March 2013), IKCO CEO hoped that with regard to his company’s focus on global sale development, IKCO would experience a tremendous jump in this field this year. Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO, received the related trophy in this conference. During the conference, Industrial Management Institute evaluated companies regarding their economic indicators especially their sales. Selling $11.8 billion worth of products in 2010, $100m more than 2009, IKCO (holding) ranked first among Iran’s top 400 companies for the second year in a row. IKCO was also awarded for highest level of sales, job creation and profitability. In job creation point of view, IKCO with 52,795 personnel, ranked second. Considering profitability, earning $1.1 billion, IKCO was recognized as Iran’s fifth company. IKCO’s Supplying Automotive Parts Co. ranked fourth with $7 billion of sales. The report indicates that regarding total assets IKCO stands among Iran’s top 10 companies. IKCO is the ME’s largest car manufacturing company, which produced 760 thousand cars in 2010. The ministers of Industry, Mine and Trade, Information and Communication Technology and a number of Parliament Members were participating in the conference. Iran’s IMI 100 is held by Industrial Management Institute of Iran and is the only ranking in the country, comparable with the international ranking of Fortune 500 introducing 500 top companies in the world. IMI 100 evaluates governmental and private companies and organizations based on 23 financial parameters while at the same time companies from the same sector as carmakers, banks or food industries get a chance to compete considering the criteria related to that sector. 7 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Leading Manufacturer among Iranian Companies Iran Khodro Industrial Group was recognized as Iran’s leading manufacturer and received the special statuette and trophy in the 9th «National Production – National Honor» ceremony. On the sidelines of the ceremony, Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO emphasized the necessity of promoting national production and domestic industry and said, «Iran Khodro Industrial Group has always intended to improve national brand and domestic production. The head of Standards Research Institute, the head of Industries and Mines Commission of the Parliament, a number of Parliament members, government officials and active industry members of private sector were participating in the ceremony. Babaei Appointed as IKCO Deputy CEO Abdollah Babaei, director of IKCO Communication and International Affairs was appointed by Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO as the company’s Sales and Marketing Deputy CEO. During the introduction ceremony of IKCO deputy CEO in marketing and sales, Mir Javad Soleimani, Vice-president in quality and product development referred to Babaei’s experience and expertise and expressed hope that he would implement the new management methods to increase IKCO’s share in domestic market. «Last year IKCO was the best Iranian company in sale services,» Soleimani said an added, «we hope growth and dynamism in sales and marketing would lead the company to repeat the same success in sales as well.» Following Soleimani, Abdollah Babaei in a brief speech said, «I hope the cooperation of all sectors of IKCO would help me to handle sales and marketing activities in the best possible way and in accordance with the company’s top management objectives.» Holding EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) degree, Babaei has over 12 years of experience in sales and after-sales service, marketing and communications management in Iran’s auto industry. Prior to this, Babaei has been the CEO and Board Member of Pars Khodro After-sales Service Company, Pars Khodro Sales and Marketing Director, Pars Khodro Vice Deputy CEO in Sales and Marketing and Vice Chairman of OPCO (Iran-Khodro Customized Automotive Production Company). He has been in charge of IKCO communication and international affairs department since 2009. 8 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Event Iran’s Exclusive Exhibition in Turkmenistan Targeting international markets, IKCO participated in Iran’s exclusive exhibition in Turkmenistan, which was held in the capital city of Ashkhabad, February 21-23. Turkmen Vice-president of Commerce, Minister of Transportation as well as the ambassadors of Iran, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Ashkhabad and also Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade took part in the opening ceremony, where the President’s message was cited. The message approach was to expand economical transaction between Iran and Turkmenistan. On behalf of Iran Khodro Industrial Group, IKCO Ashkhabad Co. made an impressive presence in the exhibition to show off Iran’s industrial capabilities. IKCO’s 300m2 pavilion was located at the center of the exhibition. IKCO demonstrated Soren ELX, Samand LX, and Peugeots 206, 207i, Pars and 405. In the meantime, fifty Iranian companies showcased their products and services at the exhibition. Due to a common geographical border and cultural, historical and religious commonalities, Turkmenistan is considered as one of IKCO’s most important target markets and consistent presence in such exhibitions can stabilize the position of the company in this market. Iran’s exclusive exhibition in Turkmenistan is an annual exhibition. Due to the proximity of Iran and Turkmenistan, Turkmen businessmen and companies warmly welcomed the exhibition, which will led to their better acquaintance with IKCO and its products. 9 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Production New Engines on Samand Powerful and fuel efficient XUM engines are going to replace XU7 ones to promote IKCO cars to Euro IV standards. Mir Javad Soleimani, IKCO vice-president in quality and product development in this regard said, «Currently XU7 is mounted on Samand and Peugeot 405 sedans, however IKCO aims to promote its cars emission standard to Euro IV by designing and developing XUM engines. The company’s daily production of Samand and Peugeot 405 is more than 1600 units, some of which is going to be outfitted with XUM engines and the rest will enjoy EF7 and TU5 engines under the hood. XUM is a 1900cc engine that comes in two types of gasoline and bi-fuel types and meets Euro IV standard requirements. Despite the boosted capacity, the engine has been optimized and its intake is the same as XU7 and close to 8.7l/100km. The related performance and durability tests have been recently accomplished on the engine and it is going to function on IKCO cars for a two-month test period. XUM will be mass-produced by late June 2012. Micro-hybrid Samand in the Market IKCO kicked off marketing Iran’s first micro-hybrid car. Nima Mosleh, IKCO deputy CEO in NPD center (New Products’ Development) in this regard said, «Hybrid development is a part of IKCO’s approach toward modern technology to reduce fossil fuel consumption.» Hybrid car production is a part of IKCO’s strategy to confront the price rise of energy carriers following the Rationalization of Subsidies Plan in Iran. IKCO had previously heightened its CNG vehicles in this regard. Last year, 50 micro-hybrid Samand sedans, all of which passed different types of tests successfully were produced. «Start-stop system is the main specification of micro-hybrid cars,» Mosleh said and then referred to the battery, ignition system, instrument panel and the main harness as some other modified parts and components in micro-hybrid cars, emphasizing the installation of these parts on XU7 engine which will be used on EF7 engines later.» Mosleh reiterated that micro- hybrid Samand shuts down at speeds lower than five kilometers per hour automatically. This is most advantageous for vehicles which spend significant amounts of time waiting at traffic lights or frequently come to a stop in traffic jams. Two sensors, one on the gearbox and the other on the booster, control stop-start process when stopping and stepping on the clutch to restart. The CEO finally underscored that IKCO has fulfilled all the related programs and activities and the company will mass produce this car in near future, while producing taxis that enjoy this system will be focused on. 10 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Production Diesel Samand to be Produced This Year The New Product Development center of Iran Khodro is modifying IKCO diesel engine for Samand. As soon as passing the required tests, Iran’s first diesel car will enter into pre-production phase this year. Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO in this regard said, «The main activities regarding diesel engine project are being accomplished in IKCO Powertrain Company and qualified auto part and component producers have been singled out.» IKCO diesel engine meets Euro V standard requirements. This 1500cc engine produces 90 Kw of power. Its torque reaches 256 Nm and it sips only 5.2 liters of fuel per 100 Km. Due to the importance of providing proper fuel, Euro IV and V standard-approved fuel will be accordingly provided by Iran’s ministry of petroleum next year while the Ministry has participated in the design and development process of this engine. IKCO intends to mass produce diesel passenger cars in less than two years. The company’s diesel engine would be suitable for segment D cars like Samand, Soren and Dena. Extensive changes have been made to Samand for the calibration of diesel engine. All parts and components will be replaced in engine and powertrain system, while IKCO powertrain company is to design a new transmission system to line up with the diesel engine. So far, 23 sets of this diesel engine have been produced, three of which have been mounted on IKCO cars to pass required tests. The engine meets euro V standard requirements. Hybrid car, gearbox and direct injection are the other three projects IPCO is working on. The related studies considering these projects have already started and the company will soon embark on the design and development of hybrid powertrain. The intellectual property of EF7 engine belongs to IKCO. It comes in CNG based, gasoline, turbocharged and diesel types, while the first two have already been mass produced. 11 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 IKCO Fars to Produce 15000 Sets of Pars IKCO Fars (IKCO production plant in Fars Province) is going to produce 15 thousand Peugeot Pars sedans. Mohammad Javad Habibi, IKCO Fars CEO said, the company produces one car per hour and this would exceed to five units this year. Since the beginning of the mass production, IKCO Fars has produced 250 Peugeot Pars sedans. Currently about 100 employees work in the company, while the increase of production would create 150 job opportunity in every working shift. IKCO Fars is IKCO’s fifth local production site, the total investment for which rose to almost 60,000,000 dollars. Production capacity of IKCO Fars exceeds 30 thousand cars per year. All types of Peugeot 405 sedans are currently mass produced in IKCO Fars. Supporting private sector investors on auto part and component production is also on the company’s agenda, while one of the main goals of Iran Khodro Fars is to export cars to Persian Gulf region countries. In line with the decentralization policy of the government (pushing the industries out of the capital), IKCO has already started to establish production sites throughout the country. IKKCO (Iran Khodro Khorassan) was IKCO’s first out of the capital production site, established in Khorassan province (North East of Iran) in 2004. IKKCO production capacity is 150,000 cars a year. Following that IKCO established Iran Khodro Tabriz in 2007 and Iran Khodro Mazandaran in 2010. The production capacities of these two sites mount to 100 and 15 thousand cars per annum respectively. 12 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Production IKCO Made 773,000 Cars Last Year IKCO produced about 773,000 sets of passenger and commercial vehicles in the last Iranian year, which equals to the period from March 20, 2011 to March 20, 2012. Referring to IKCO production performance, Hussein Najari, Deputy CEO in total production system stated, different types of Peugeot 405 which mounts to over 178,500 sets made the majority of the company›s products in this year. The deputy then elaborated on the quantity of cars produced in this period in details and said, «Since the beginning of the year, IKCO has produced about 178,500 sets of Peugeot 206 and 207i in different types, 141,000 sets of Samand sedan, over 113,000 Bardo pickups and 91,000 sets of Peugeot Pars.» Najari also added, 20,000 sets of Roa, 32,000 sets of Tondar 90, 4500 sets of Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV and 52 sets of Runna were also produced. In the meantime, the total number of commercial vehicles mounted to more than 12,000 sets. TAM Iran Khodro Received Consumers’ Rights Certificate In 11th Consumers› Rights Certificate ceremony, TAM Iran Khodro received Consumers› Rights Certificate for the first time. Every year, Consumers and Producers Protection Organization which is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade surveys the activities of the companies applying the certificate in four main areas of price and quality of products, customers› satisfaction and after-sales service. Iran Central Bank, Presidential Strategic Planning and Monitoring Deputy, Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Institute of Standards & Industrial Research of Iran, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and National Consumer Rights Protection Association are the sources that are authorized to improve the competence of qualified companies. Evaluation process takes place in two stages of submitting documents and technical evaluation by the experts of Consumers and Producers Protection Organization. The main criteria in the evaluation are price and quality of products, customers› satisfaction and after-sales service and TAM Iran Khodro has performed successfully in these areas. The ceremony takes place in February 28 (Consumers› Right Protection day in Iran) every year and at the presence of the county’s high ranking officials. 13 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Subsidiary Iran’s Largest Industrial Automation Project by TAM Iran Khodro TAM Iran Khodro ran Iran’s largest project in the renovation of industrial automation in National Iranian Copper Industries Co. (NICICO). The project recently came to operation at the presence of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Hamid Moradi, TAM CEO in this regard said, «Production process in NICICO is controlled by DCS system, which provides integrated management into all the stages of the process equally and detects errors in each point of the process. The project required 312 thousand man-hour of engineering and was completed in three years. The steady trend of production, uninterrupted supply and installation due to domestic engineering knowledge could be referred to as the turning point in this project. In the meantime, the knowledge and experience gained in the automation of automotive industry and similar activities was a big help in this project. At the moment, TAM Iran Khodro is able to manage big MMC and DCS projects in oil, gas and petro-chemistry industries as well as power plants and other industrial units. According to TAM CEO this project has brought about 4m euros of savings. Some of the other achievements of the project could be referred to as decreasing the number of stops and increasing the efficiency and productivity. It has also facilitated the repair and maintenance activities and created production infrastructures. Part of the activities done in these projects are: establishing and updating 18 local and one central control unit, 2835 new MMC instruments and 76 operation stations. NICICO is located in Kerman, a province in the south-east of Iran. It is one of the world’s largest mining and industrial units. TAM Iran Khodro is one of IKCO subsidiaries that provide equipment for the carmaker’s robotic production lines. 14 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Global Sales Runna and Dena Main Axis of IKCO Export «IKCO is to present a new product portfolio», Javad Najmeddin IKCO CEO said and added: «IKCO’s main concern is to export cars of highest technology to international markets; Runna and Dena are good samples of such cars.» Every single company wishing to enter into international market has to update its products and strive to achieve the highest level of the quality. IKCO policy is to renew its export products portfolio. Since selling cars in international markets is much more profitable for IKCO, the company intends to speed up the process. The main objective to design and produce Runna and Dena was to present new IKCO cars that were competitive in both domestic and international markets and could be produced with least investment. Second IKCO brand car, Runna, will hit the domestic and international markets in late April. IKCO aims to produce 50 thousand Runna sedans in 2012. This amount could chalk up to 200 thousand units a year. Dena, a sedan that belongs to D segment, is to be produced on Samand platform in two models of LX and ELX, replacing Samand gradually. IKCO intends to export 10 thousand Dena sedans to the Middle Eastern countries, Russia, Turkey, Africa and South America. 15 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 Int’l Sales Reached 200,000 Plus Cars Iran Khodro Industrial group have exported over 200,000 cars up to the end of 2011. Javad Najmeddin IKCO CEO in this regard said, «IKCO cars - among other company’s products play a key role in its international sale.» In the first half of 2000s, only 17 percent of IKCO international sale counted for the IKCO car, Samand, while this amount ran up to 44 percent by 2010. Afterward, the company put all its efforts to strengthen and develop its own brand, so that in 2011, it made up 85 percent of IKCO international sales. The company aims to allocate 90 percent of its export to Samand this year. IKCO exported 26,846 cars to Islamic countries in 2009. The figure chalked up by 31 percent and reached 35,242 in 2010, while 80 percent of the export in 2011 was into Muslim countries. Najmeddin pointed out that IKCO Runna and IKCO Dena will bring about a promising future to the company’s international sales. IKCO cars are currently exported to 30 countries all over the world. Besides, IKCO runs five production plants and export bases around the Globe. Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Latin America and Africa are the main target markets for IKCO cars. IKCO Exports 15 Thousand Cars to CIS IKCO aims to export 15 thousand passenger cars to Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Belarus this year. Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO announced that two thousands of these cars would be produced in IKCO production plant in Belarus. Expansion of international markets is one of IKCO’s main objectives for the next year. The market studies indicate that IKCO’s coming-soon new products would be warmly welcomed in target markets. This issue has motivated IKCO to think seriously about exporting its new cars. Currently seven percent of IKCO cars are dispatched to international markets. The company intends to increase the figure to 12 percent in the next year and 20 percent afterwards. In order to expand its export to CIS, Africa and Latin America, IKCO has recently made agreements with the related countries. There is another letter of understanding that facilitates investment in CIS countries and provides tariff facilities in the customs union of these countries. IKCO, the products of which are currently exported to more than 30 countries around the Globe, is the largest car manufacturing company in the Middle East. 16 IKCO Vision Apr 2012 In the Press TV Iranian automaker IKCO named top industrial company Leading Iranian automaker, Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) has been named the country’s top company for its highest level of sales, job creation and profitability. IKCO was announced as the top Iranian company during the 14th conference of Iran’s Top 100 Companies organized by Industrial Management Institute (IMI). Iran’s IMI 100 is the only center in the country which evaluates governmental and private companies based on 23 financial parameters. IKCO was recently named the most prosperous Iranian industrial company with more than USD 30 billion in assets. Founded in 1962, IKCO is currently regarded as the biggest automaker in the Middle East, which broke its monthly production record by producing 75,871 cars in November, 2011. The Iranian company won an award from Tehran’s Third International Nanotechnology Festival as the leading company in nano-related auto industry. (IKCO) says the company is planning to present a new product portfolio to achieve the highest level of quality. «IKCO’s main concern is to export cars of highest technology to international markets; Runna and Dena are good samples of such cars,» said Javad Najmeddin on Sunday. According to an IKCO press release, the company’s policy is to renew its export products portfolio and to speed up the process of selling cars in international markets.
