We Need You!
Please pardon all the
construction going on
in St. Charles County
Parks. The department
is excited to offer the
public some new amenities, and apologizes
for any inconvenience it
may have caused while
in the building process.
A new entrance is being built at Quail Ridge Park to
make room for a new roadway connector. Duello Rd.
is being extended to connect with Highway Z, and a
new roundabout is also being installed in the park.
Phase III development at Broemmelsiek Park is expected to be completed by this summer. New features
being installed at the park include a day-use visitors
center that will be available for guests to reserve for
special occasions and small events; a Group Picnic
Area that will accommodate 300 guests; a large lakeside pavilion; and a historic educational agriculture
area that will serve as an outdoor interpretive site that
focuses on the history of agriculture in St. Charles
County.
Some new trails were recently carved out at Broemmelsiek Park. The trails are located just north of the
day-use visitors center and will connect to the existing
trails system when the trails in that area are reopened.
Prairie Link, Lakeside Link and Jack’s Loop Trails
remain closed, but will be reopening as soon as Phase
III construction is completed.
New paved trails are
also being laid at Towne
Park. A section of
Betty’s Trail is currently
under construction
and will be inaccessible
until sometime this
summer. The new asphalt will connect to the
existing trail that wraps
around the lake and
extends into the woods, ending near the 1860 restored
homestead on park property. The trails are being built
to accommodate the high volume of guests hiking and
bicycling throughout the park.
Immerse yourself in
history at Towne Park
on Saturday, May 17.
The 11th Mississippi
Volunteer Infantry
Regiment is partnering with the St. Charles
County Parks and
Recreation Department
to offer a free hands-on
experience of what life was like as a Civil War soldier
living in an encampment from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Interested participants must be 16 years of age to engage
in these exciting 19th century military infantry drills,
workshops and experiences! Participation is limited,
so register today by contacting Private Barry Barfield
at (314) 922-6007. No experience or skill necessary.
These drills and workshops are perfect for men and
women interested in learning about and exploring
