A 5 star cruise in northern Spain
A 5 star cruise in northern Spain EL Transcantábrico Three decades ago saw the birth of what is today the oldest tourist train in Spain: El Transcantábrico. What was then a gamble for a country that had never seen a train of these performance features and characteristics in operation is now an internationally renowned and consolidated product. After successive changes and improvements over its now long history, El Transcantábrico is today a true five-star hotel on rails, with features and amenities that meet the most demanding expectations. In its saloons and suites it perfectly combines the charm of trains reminiscent of the early 20th century with the best comfort of the 21st century. Both in the train saloons and the distinguished restaurants on the tour, the gastronomy is the responsibility of the most renowned kitchens and chefs of northern Spain, an area already ranked among the best in Europe for the quality of its professionals and their raw materials. The pleasure of a superb cuisine is now a "trademark" of all Renfe Tourist Train packages. Saloon coaches The suites El Transcantábrico has the original 1923 Pullman coaches, real gems of historical railway heritage, specially decorated for this luxury train. A la carte breakfasts are served daily in these areas, as well as the fine cuisine prepared by our chef in the dinners or lunches served on board. In addition, the coach bar stays open permanently to serve customers, who can also enjoy other areas such as tea rooms, a panoramic coach or the pub coach, where parties, music or live performances are offered every night. El Transcantábrico has two types of rooms available to its customers: The whole train, both rooms and common areas, is connected internally, allowing free movement of passengers. Junior Suite A fully equipped room to enjoy a comfortable stay on board. It features: • Bedroom and bathroom layout. • Double bed. • Equipped with wardrobe, luggage rack, desk, safe, climate control, musical tuner, internal telephone, minibar. • Functional bathroom with hairdryer and hydro-massage shower/steam sauna. Deluxe Suite, double bed and bathroom interior 2 Deluxe Suite In design, space, quality and modern features the Deluxe suites are comparable to the rooms of the most prestigious five-star accommodation. They feature: • Ample space distributed into a lounge, bedroom and bathroom. • Two metre long double bed or individual twin beds in the bedroom. A sofa which can be turned into a double bed in the lounge. •Equipped with wardrobe, luggage rack, desk, safe, LED screens, musical tuner, climate control, multimedia computer with free Internet access, internal telephone and minibar. • Comfortable and spacious bathroom, with hydro-massage shower/steam sauna, hairdryer and a varied set of welcome items. El Transcantábrico The Routes In the 2014 season, El Transcantábrico includes among its major new items the possibility of choosing the number of days on board within each general route established. All of this in order to suit the needs and travel time that customers desire. Each El Transcantábrico tour combines on board cuisine and top-class restaurants. The pleasure of the journey is also based on a careful balance between train travel and the stays and visits on different stages of the route. As the train remains in the station, passengers can choose between the scheduled tour, staying on board or going out on their own to enjoy the town wherever they are.
