Company profile and structure:
History:
Since 1868 the family Gerritsen has been involved in the production of stainless steel cutlery.
The mother company Sola b.v. was founded in 1922 and is still a family business, run by the 3rd
generation of the family Gerritsen.
The head office, warehouse and factory are located in the city of Zeist, The Netherlands, which is
approximately 55 km/ 35 miles south east from Amsterdam.
Sola b.v. recently celebrated its 90th anniversary.
What started with the production of stainless steel cutlery direct from
the factory in Zeist, has now resulted in a large international
organization with a branch in Korea and warehouses in Asia and
the United States.

The Sola organization is split up in 4 business sectors:
1. Sola domestic market:
Cutlery for the Dutch market;
2. Sola Airline Cutlery b.v.:
Specialized in the airline/railway industry;
3. Sola Retail & Hospitality:
Cutlery and hollowware for hotels/restaurants;
4. Sola Maritime:
Business unit for the cruise line industry.
4 business units run by specialized staff who are familiar with the specific requirements per market, region and
clients.
Sola Airline Cutlery b.v.:
Sola Airline Cutlery b.v. was founded as a separate company to better serve large end-users like airline –
and railway companies. These companies need special attention, different products, a separate special
range of products and specialized know-how and approach.
At this moment we supply our product to more than 70 airlines world-wide. A separate list of clients is
available, but Sola is proud to supply for instance British Airways, American Airlines, Saudi Arabian
Airlines, Lufthansa, Emirates, Air Canada and Singapore Airlines.
Our Objectives:
It is our goal to establish a long-lasting business relation with our clients. With most of our current
customers we do business for multiple years.
Anybody who has an interest in our company and products can rely on the expertise and craftsmanship
of our team of experts.
Products:
Designing, manufacturing and supplying stainless steel cutlery is our core business.
Sola Airline Cutlery b.v. (SAC) has an especially developed range of cutlery designs. These differ from
normal cutlery because of style, size, material, price and volumes.
We can also make use of the extensive cutlery range of the mother company.
From almost every item we keep stock in our warehouse in Holland.
Both ranges are picture in this catalogue.
It is of course also possible that we produce your existing design on your behalf.
Plus we have the option to completely develop a new designs for you.
Hollowware:
Next to stainless steel cutlery we also have a complete separate range of hollowware products. These
vary from coffee/teapots, creamers, milk jugs, tongs, trays, wine/champagne coolers, caviar dishes,
bottle openers. All of these items are available in various designs, shapes and sizes. Most of these items
are picture in this catalogue.
Production:
Our products are manufactured in the Far East. These factories are under our control and are closely
monitored by Sola and our staff of Sola Korea. Quality and production output is checked daily, and the
production sites are visited regularly throughout the year.
Steel:
Our production facilities make use of the correct quality steel, which is produced by international
standards. Our minimum standard is Ainsi-430, (16-18% chrome steel). Further we make also use of
Ainsi-304, (18-20% chrome-nickel steel). Also silver- and gold plating is an option.
Safety regulations:
Since end of 2010 the safety regulations towards stainless steel cutlery on board of aircraft changed
dramatically. The short 6cm blades for the knives and the 3,5cm tines for the fork are no longer an
issue. You can make use of normal cutlery without restrictions. Sola is in regular contact with the UK
Department for Transport safety department and we can arrange special documents authorizing you to
fly with the design you intend to use.

We have multiple factories at our disposal. In combination with our experience and presence in the
market we can operate quickly and are basically always competitive. Our team and factories are highly
flexible and we can always provide a quick and reliable solution.
