In Memory of
The “Honey Lady”
Edna Franklin
For over 30 years, Edna Franklin along with her husband Lyle and their family have been
vendors at the Chautauqua County Fair. Their first location was in the “Electric Building”
selling only honey products. Their business has grown through the years to include kettle
corn, yoyo balloons and more. Besides being a vendor, Edna was also a hairdresser for 47
years. She owned and operated the former Franklin’s Fashion Boutique. She was also a
hairdresser at the Chautauqua County Home.
Edna passed away on February 20, 2013. She will be sadly missed by her many customers,
family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lyle Franklin along with their two sons Jeff (Heidi),
Kevin Franklin, a daughter, Brenda (Stephen) Nowicki; a sister Grace (Gerald) Franklin; and
three brothers, Daniel Cummings, Robert (Joan) Cummings and Marvin Cummings. Also
surviving are 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

PREMIUM LIST – 2013 CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY FAIR
General Rules and Regulations for the Fair
 DUE TO THE DECLINING ECONOMY, ONLY FIRST PLACE WILL BE AWARDED A
PREMIUM. RIBBONS WILL BE AWARDED FOR SECOND AND THIRD PLACES.
 All entries and entry tags will be done by computer again this year; therefore it is recommended that all
entry forms be mailed prior to the week of the fair. There will be someone in the Entry Clerk’s office
Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm the week before fair to answer questions and make entry tags.
You can make entries prior to the fair; however, items cannot be brought before the start of the fair. If
you do not bring your entry forms until Saturday prior to the fair you will have to wait for entry tags to
be issued. Hours to receive tags are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
 Every exhibitor in Floral Hall must be a resident of Chautauqua County or a member in good standing of a
Chautauqua County organization. (Entrant must list association with Chautauqua County.) Entrant must
be maker of exhibit. ONLY ONE ENTRY ALLOWED IN ANY ONE CLASS! In listing of “any
other,” please identify.
 Those people who pre-register may go directly to Floral Hall on Saturday with their exhibits. If you have
not received your entry tags, they will be at Floral Hall. Those who do not pre-register will have to
wait for your entries to be registered and your tags to be issued.
 Any employee receiving compensation from the Chautauqua Agricultural Association is prohibited from
competing for any premium money.
 The judge may award more than one second or third if exhibit warrants same. The entry fee is 10 percent
of the First Premium, except in the Junior Departments where there is no fee. First place is awarded at
the judge’s discretion. “Best of Show” Rosette will be awarded in each adult department.
 If bringing a large item, notify Superintendent before entering item.
 No purchased item may be altered or changed and then entered.
 See specific rules in each department.
 All entries must be made between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Saturday, prior to the fair, excepting
homemade foods, agriculture, fruits and flowers which must be in between 8:30-10:00 a.m. Sunday,
prior to the fair. Entries, however, still need to be made by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the fair.
Exhibits must be in place inside Floral Hall before 6:00 p.m. After 6:00 p.m., all exhibits will be
turned away.
 NO DEALERS OR PROFESSIONALS PERMITTED TO COMPETE FOR PREMIUM MONEY
except in designated departments. We reserve the right to change the classification of any item entered
incorrectly. Because this is a family-oriented Fair, this committee shall reserve the right to reject or
refuse, and to order the removal of any exhibit which, in the opinion of its members is not eligible or
worthy of showing (soiled), or has not met the entry requirements.
 "First time exhibitors" are for first time in that department. Please indicate on Exhibitor Tag.
 Age of the Junior exhibitors may be a factor in judging. List age on all junior entries.
 Arrangements for picking up all entries will again be on Monday, the day after the Fair ends. THE
HOURS FOR PICK UP ARE 10:00 AM TO 7:00 PM. You will be picking up your premium checks
on that day as well. Any entries not picked up this day will be held in the fair office until August 31st.
After August 31st the entry will be discarded. All exhibits must remain on display the duration of the
Fair. No entries will be taken on articles having once received a premium or entered previous years.
 Due to the fact that you will be picking up your exhibits on Monday, after the conclusion of the fair,
the policy for poster passes is as follows: Each exhibitor paying a minimum entry fee of $1.00 will
be given one poster pass as a courtesy. Youth exhibitors entering 3 or more items will also receive
a poster pass. Poster passes are not considered General Admission - Pay One Price. Two weekly
passes and one car pass will be allowed for each booth in Floral Hall.
