There are many reasons families choose Milwaukee
Montessori School, but perhaps the most important
considerations are the strength of the academic
program, the extraordinary levels of student
achievement and our attention to individualized
student learning. Our unique curriculum combines
experience-based Montessori methods with the
technology, teamwork, and creative skills that
we know are critical for success today, and our
extraordinary faculty has the education and
experience to build these skills in our students.
The elevated curriculum, high expectations, and
individualized attention ultimately lead to stellar
achievement, and in fact Milwaukee Montessori
School’s program is so strong that schools across the
nation look to us for methods and advice.
Another important reason families choose MMS is the
cultural, racial, and economic diversity of our students
and faculty. This diversity enriches our learning
environment by giving students experience drawing on
the breadth of thought that is essential for successful
problem solving. With our emphasis on teamwork,
students from varied backgrounds work, grow in
trust, build friendships, and succeed together. Their
families too are united in the belief that a Milwaukee
Montessori School education is the best investment for
meeting future challenges.
Our philosophy is that success comes largely from
hard work - not luck, privilege, or ‘giftedness’ - and
we instill this value by helping students develop their
work stamina and competencies. Unlike traditional
schools, MMS faculty members have extensive
training in carefully recognizing and developing
each child’s proficiencies without requiring them to
learn skills at the same time or in the same ways.
Students love the challenge, and they face the future
eager to take on worthwhile opportunities undaunted
by the hard work required. In fact, Milwaukee
Montessori School graduates are recruited to attend
the finest high schools in the world, bringing skills
that distinguish them from their peers. Beyond this,
our alumni successfully attend elite colleges and
graduate schools, reporting engagement in exciting
careers and civic activities.
Ultimately, the heart of an MMS education can
be found in our mission, “to educate students
of knowledge, courage, personal integrity, and
compassion.” Everything we do is based on the belief
that every child has unique personal potential, and
the extraordinary success of our graduates shows
that we have indeed earned our reputation for
excellence from educators, teacher training centers,
and institutions of higher education. Parents want a
school fully committed to helping their children not
only achieve academically but to become stronger,
better citizens. We know we must offer a lasting
benefit to families making this investment, and we
are proud to offer a long and proven history of
exceeding expectations.
Milwaukee Montessori School’s pledge to every parent
is that our highly skilled teachers and nationally
recognized curriculum will inspire children to develop
the knowledge and character it takes to achieve and
succeed in the world well beyond our walls.

YEAR IN REVIEW
Founded in 1961, Milwaukee
Montessori School is a private,
independent, co-educational elementaryday school educating students from
toddlers through eighth grade.
Uniquely MMS
Recognized for our outstanding and
dynamic academic program, we are
dedicated to providing an individualized
educational experience. The challenging
and enriching curriculum encourages the
development of real-world skills.
MMS students won
more 7th and 8th-grade
scholastic art awards
than any other middle
school in the state.
Among the many were the 1st-place
Gold Key Award and
three 2nd-place Silver Key
awards. Out of only ten
1st place ribbons given
out at the State Fair art
show, MMS students
won two
of them.
Our mission is to provide a challenging,
individualized educational experience
founded in a Montessori curriculum
with the objective of developing
independent-thinking students
of knowledge, courage, personal
integrity and compassion.
Milwaukee Montessori School reached
a new level of community recognition in
2015, including a recordsetting number of awards.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Outstanding student scholarships were granted
to many of our 2015 8th-grade graduates. Of
particular note is Chyna B. who was the second
MMS student in three years to be awarded the
prestigious Joe Lubar Scholarship. As part of
this award, Chyna was given a full, four-year
scholarship to the University School of Milwaukee.
EXCELLENCE
Junior High teacher Ben Riggs received the
prestigious Janet Martin Award for excellence
in teaching, and Jaime Wszelaki, our art and
robotics teacher, won the title of Robotics Coach
of the Year for a second time.
REAL-WORLD ACTIVITIES
Our work developing real-world simulations
gained the interest of Hollywood producers who
spent the better month of October 2014 filming
a documentary about Election Game. The film is
scheduled to open in early 2016.
FRIENDSHIP
Finally, we celebrate friendships. In August, the
MMS class of 2011 gathered here to take a
reunion photo, and we asked them what they felt
was most valuable about their MMS experience.
Each and every one of them responded that while
here they made lifelong friends they still count
on to this day. Ultimately, our school’s joy-filled,
challenging education is life-changing, and the
students who live it together as cohorts become
bonded forever by their unique experience.

outstanding auction items, exquisite
dining, and entertainment.
In 2015, over 240 friends and family
attended the Annual Gala held at
Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. Seventy
