About MCPAWS
A Message From The Executive Director
Change is good. “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” – Socrates. MCPAWS
continues building upon the changes and growth of 2014, seeing concrete progress in 2015: improvements to living conditions for dogs and cats
with significant upgrades to dog intake and cat housing; stability in staffing; new programs like Reading with Cats and expansion of recently added
programs like fostering for puppies and kittens, hospice for elderly animals, and transferring from or to other shelters to optimize each animal’s
hope for adoption. We created a new dog-friendly event – Tails on Trails at Brundage – and continue to expand fundraising partnerships with
local business, such as Pints for Pets at Broken Horn Brewery and the Barn Social and Concert in August, hosted by some of our donors. Our new
Volunteer Coordinator strives to enhance the volunteering experience at MCPAWS. Our Board of Directors is also changing and building – two
members retired and three new members joined in early 2016, bringing fresh energy and expertise as MCPAWS considers expanding our Thrift
Store retail space, remodeling the shelter to improve dog intake and increase cat space, and creating a MCPAWS Boarding and Daycare facility to
enhance our financial stability into the future. Exciting times ahead!
Rebecca Wallick, Executive Director
Our MISSION
The mission of MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter is to provide safe shelter for abandoned, surrendered and lost cats and dogs, to find loving homes

Programs & Services
Shelter & Adoptions
MCPAWS provides safe shelter, nutritious food, warm beds and compassionate care to lost and abandoned
animals until they find a forever home. All animals are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped
before they are adopted.
Lost & Found
MCPAWS provides aid to those who have lost animals by posting lost animal information at the shelter, and on
our Facebook page. Found animals can be brought to MCPAWS where they will be scanned for a microchip and
their photo posted on our Facebook page so they can be quickly reunited with their family.
Spay & Neuter
MCPAWS spays or neuters every unaltered animal before it is made available for adoption. MCPAWS offers low
cost spay and neuter services to low income residents of Valley County several times a year, and plans to expand
this community service to prevent unwanted litters.
Microchipping
MCPAWS provides a microchipping service to the public, and encourages anyone claiming a lost animal to have
that animal microchipped. Microchipping helps animal shelters, veterinarians and other rescue groups identify
lost pets in the event they are found without other ID tags. All unchipped shelter animals are provided one before
they are made available for adoption.
Pet Food Bank
MCPAWS offers free pet food to community members through our Pet Food Bank. This service is offered to
help reduce the number of pet surrenders due to finiancial hardship. We rely on food donations for this program.
MCPAWS Thrift Store
Run by Manager Donna Bourne, the MCPAWS Thrift Store is like no other with beautiful displays, easy-to-find
bargains, adoptable cats, and a comfortable shopping environment that will always keep you coming back for
more. All profits go to the shelter.
Events & Fundraising
Monster Dog Pull
The dog-gone most fun event of Winter Carnival! Dogs of every type and size are harnessed with weighted sleds
based on their weight class. They pull the sleds down a short course to the finish line. No experience or equipment
is needed. The crowd gets to watch all the tactics human companions use to encourage their dogs to cross the
finish line. Dogs with the best times in each class get prizes. Some dogs don’t finish, and that is alright - this race
is just for fun and bragging rights. And boy, is it fun!
Bark! In The Park
A 3K fun walk to raise essential funds for MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter. Leash up your pooch for a great
outing through the scenic meadows and forests of Ponderosa State Park. Post-walk festivities include a picnic
lunch, live music, and contests and prizes for you and your best friend. Registration fee includes a Bark in the
Park t-shirt, dog bandanna, treats for your dog and picnic lunch.
Auction For The Animals
This is the largest fundraising event for MCPAWS. The every-other-summer fundraiser features a cocktail
reception, live music, an elegant buffet dinner, as well as live and silent auctions. This formal event is a favorite for
our supporters. The next Auction will be July 29, 2016 at Jug Mountain Ranch.
Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest takes place every year on the first Saturday in October at Alpine Village in McCall. Quickly becoming a
favorite fall tradition in McCall, Oktoberfest features a beer garden, food court, vendor court, live music, dancing,
raffle prizes, arts and crafts, and a kids’ activity area. More than 2,000 people are in attendance each year, many
driving from Boise and surrounding areas to enjoy this day of festivities.
Tails on Trails
Held on the first Sunday in October, and part of an Oktoberfest weekend of events, this dog-friendly trail run offers
two distinct routes that will provide runners and their dogs with challenging elevation gains, stunning vistas, and
delightful single-track descents on the mountain bike trails of Brundage Mountain Resort. BBQ and beer garden
follow the race.

How can you support MCPAWS?
Make a Monetary Donation
We rely on the generous donations and support of people like you to continue to make a difference in the lives of
hundreds of animals each year. If you are interested in helping support our mission, financial contributions can be
made in a variety of ways - online, via mail, or in person!
Your gift will make a postive impact on the lives of homeless and abandoned animals. A contribution of any size is
appreciated and helps cover the costs of providing shelter and care every day.
Sponsor a Pet
Every sponsor, or the individual you give the gift in honor of, will receive a Certificate of Sponsorship with
information about and a photo of the animal you are sponsoring. When that animal is adopted, you will be notified
and receive information about the new dog or cat who has taken their place.
Visit the shelter to see the sponsorship card with your name, or the name of the person you are honoring, displayed
on the kennel door of your sponsored animal. Starting at just $10 for a one month sponsorship, $50 for six months,
$100 for a year, or $1000 for a lifetime sponsorship, your donation will help pay for the animal’s food and medical
expenses.
Put MCPAWS in your will or trust
Leave a lasting legacy by including MCPAWS in your will or living trust, creating a profound and lasting impact on
our future sustainability.
When naming MCPAWS in your will, you may leave a specific dollar amount, a set percentage of your estate, or a
particular property. You can also name the shelter as the beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy,
bank account, mutual fund, charitable remainder trust, or charitable lead trust. Each of these options may help you
reduce your estate taxes.
Attend our events
Attending and participating in our events is a fun & wonderful way to show your support!
Volunteer or Foster
Volunteer and/or foster at MCPAWS! We always need help socializing cats & dogs, walking dogs, working at
events, fostering or providing hospice care for the old and infirm animals at the shelter, and more! Volunteering at
MCPAWS is a fun and rewarding way to give back.
