Calendar of Events March 2013 GRAND OPENING OF NEW BELLE GLADE BRANCH SAT, MAR 23, 10:00 AM 725 NW 4TH STREET, BELLE GLADE 33430 PHONE: 996-3453 • The new Belle Glade Branch is a 17,000 square feet facility on NW 4th Street, across from Lake Shore Middle School. • Computer Access: 22 Internet and word processing computers: in the adult area, 16 in the children’s area and 8 in the young adult area. Library catalog computers that will be available throughout the building. Free wireless access will be available throughout the building. • Meeting room space: a 3,000 square foot community meeting room, a conference room, and a separate room for children’s programs. • A variety of materials: dedicated areas for CDs, DVDs, new arrivals, in addition to books, newspapers and magazines. • Study space: quiet space including 4 private study rooms and a larger group study room. • Customer service: express check out stations will be available to allow for fast, efficient service. • Space for young people: two-themed areas designed especially for children and young adults with ample room for materials and comfortable seating. • Study carrels and lounge seating areas throughout the branch. • Special features include a family restroom with child-sized facilities. • Accessibility: Exterior walk-up returns, wider aisles, and lower shelves to allow for easier retrieval of items, increased lighting levels, incorporating both natural and artificial sources, covered walkway leading to the entrance. • Attractive environment: beautifully landscaped. • The Branch also features Art in Public Places, entitled “The Belle Glade Library Murals”, by Andrew Reid and SHEd.
