GRAND OPENING OF NEW BELLE GLADE BRANCH

• The new Belle Glade Branch is a 17,000 square feet facility on
NW 4th Street, across from Lake Shore Middle School.
• Computer Access: 22 Internet and word processing computers:
in the adult area, 16 in the children’s area and 8 in the young adult
area. Library catalog computers that will be available throughout
the building. Free wireless access will be available throughout
the building.
• Meeting room space: a 3,000 square foot community meeting room,
a conference room, and a separate room for children’s programs.
• A variety of materials: dedicated areas for CDs, DVDs, new arrivals,
in addition to books, newspapers and magazines.
• Study space: quiet space including 4 private study rooms and a
larger group study room.
• Customer service: express check out stations will be available to allow for fast, efficient service.
• Space for young people: two-themed areas designed especially for children and young adults with ample room for materials and comfortable seating.
• Study carrels and lounge seating areas throughout the branch.
• Special features include a family restroom with child-sized facilities.
• Accessibility: Exterior walk-up returns, wider aisles, and lower shelves to allow for easier retrieval of items, increased lighting levels,
incorporating both natural and artificial sources, covered walkway leading to the entrance.
• Attractive environment: beautifully landscaped.
• The Branch also features Art in Public Places, entitled “The Belle Glade Library Murals”, by Andrew Reid and SHEd. The colorful murals
feature contemporary and historic images of the Belle Glade area.
