For more information
There are a number of ways to keep track of what is going on
at Fort Leavenworth.
The Fort Leavenworth Lamp newspaper is published 50 weeks
each year. Copies are delivered to each home on the installation, as
well as bulk drops to many of the services and businesses on and
off post. Check the Lamp and its website, www.ftleavenworthlamp.com, for the latest news and information from Fort Leavenworth.
Channel 2 is the commander’s cable access television station
for current Fort Leavenworth announcements, including weatherrelated school closings, post schedule changes and special activities.
Fort Leavenworth’s “Hometown 1610” broadcasts traffic and
construction updates, visitor information, safety and security
messages, and emergency notifications. AM 1610 is a 10-watt
Travelers Information Station similar to stations at airports and
state parks. The station’s signal covers about a three-mile radius
from the transmitter at Garrison Headquarters. Motorists are encouraged to set 1610 on their AM radio and tune in during their
commute through the Fort Leavenworth area.
The Garrison website at http://garrison.leavenworth.army.mil
also features links to weather information, Garrison activities and
services, and vital information about the installation.
Follow the Lamp and Fort Leavenworth on Facebook and Twitter.
ICE customer service
Customers are encouraged to use the Interactive
Customer Evaluation system to leave their feedback
whether they receive positive or negative service.
They are also encouraged to
share ideas and suggestions.
ICE is accessible online
through various Fort Leavenworth websites. Any customer can click on the ICE
logo to be forwarded to the
Fort Leavenworth ICE website. Customers can also
visit https://ice.disa.mil. The
ICE system is monitored
daily to ensure customers
requesting a response re-
ceive a response within
three working days.
The ICE system provides
a voice for the customer and
was established to determine if the Garrison is adequately providing the needs
of those who work, play and
live on the installation in
making Fort Leavenworth
the best hometown in the
Army. For more information, contact Angela Banks,

Dental care refocuses
on wellness of soldiers
To provide a more
efficient and convenient service to soldiers, Smith Dental
Clinic, at 520 Pope
Ave., has implemented a new Armywide program called
“Go First Class.”
As of July 15, walkin dental exams were
eliminated, but now
soldiers can have their
dental exams, cleanings and, time permitting, simple
procedures like fillings
done in one appointment, rather than the
three appointments it
previously took to
achieve the same
work.
According to U.S.
Army Dental Command, soldiers were
away from their units
2.5 million hours each
year taking the time to
receive those treatments in three separate appointments.
The GFC program is
designed to reduce the
number of those visits
by at least 50 percent.
Historically, dental
treatment for soldiers
focused on achieving
dental readiness, not
wellness. The GFC
program instead focuses on dental wellness so that soldiers
are in the ultimate
shape for possible deployment. Soldiers
can be deployed at
Class I (wellness) and
Class II (readiness),
but readiness is not
the ultimate goal.
Soldiers can make
appointments at the
dental clinic by calling
684-5516. Dental Sick
Call is available from
7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Monday through Friday.

Secure messaging links providers with patients
Munson Army Health Center Public Affairs
Munson Army Health Center patients
can reach their health care team online
using a secure messaging service called
RelayHealth.
More secure than regular e-mail, the
Army Medicine Secure Messaging Service
is a program in which patients exchange
messages with their health care team via
a secure website. The program is now
Armywide, so patients who already have
an account with RelayHealth can add
their health care providers on the website
after they have been enrolled at MAHC.
Chuck Duffield, the MAHC Relay-
Health administrator, said the biggest
issue with the system is when patients try
to use it before filling out paperwork at
MAHC.
“If they don’t already have an account,
they have to come in so we can verify
their identity,” Duffield said. “That’s what
makes it secure, otherwise anyone can say
they are you.”
To request an account, complete a registration form at any of the registration
desks at MAHC. Once the account is
confirmed and active, patients will also
be able to add and act on behalf of dependent children.
Because of the time that sending a
message and receiving a response can
take, patients should never use the system
for urgent matters.
Duffield said the system is secure, convenient and well worth the small amount
of effort required to get an account.
“From anywhere 24/7, if you have access to a computer, you can send your
health care team a message.” Duffield
said. “And they can message back to you,
wherever you are.”
For information about secure messaging, visit the Munson Army Health Center website at www.munson.amedd
.army.mil and select the AMSMS link
near the center of the page.

TRICARE Online handles appointments, prescriptions
Munson Army Health Center
TRICARE Online is the Department
of Defense website for beneficiaries to be
able to make appointments with their
primary care manager, submit prescription refills and view lab results. Secure
messaging is also available as an enhanced option allowing beneficiaries to
communicate with their primary care
manager directly.
Munson Army Health Center is in the
top five in the entire Medical Command
in the usage of TRICARE Online by beneficiaries in scheduling primary care appointments. Each day, more than 70
percent of MAHC’s primary care appointments are available to be booked either online or via phone through the Call
Center. When the remaining special procedure appointments are not fully
booked they all convert to acute care appointments and are available for benefi-
ciaries to book via TRICARE Online up
to 24 hours in advance.
The appointments available and seen
on TRICARE Online are the same appointments seen by the appointment
clerks. If an appointment is not available
online or with the Appointment Center,
a telephone consult will be initiated and
the beneficiary will be called by the nurse
or the provider that day to determine the
acuity of the problem.
TRICARE Online users have a large
number of options for logging in, including using their MyPay log-in and pass-
word. Another option is the Department
of Defense Self Service Logon, or DS
Logon, which can be obtained by any
beneficiary over the age of 18. This logon
can be used at a multitude of websites in
addition to TRICARE Online to include
the United Healthcare Military and Veterans Website where beneficiaries can
view their network referrals and claims
information. The local TRICARE Service
Center can assist beneficiaries with obtaining a premium DS Logon account —
two forms of identification will be
needed to register for the premium account.
Users experiencing difficulties with
this or any other issue can call the 24hour TRICARE Online customer service
desk at (800) 600-9332.
DoD is striving to improve the TRICARE Online website every day, making
it easier to schedule primary care appointments.

Frontier Chapel
Three chapels serve post
Welcome to one of the
largest chapel programs in the
Army. Religious activities at
Fort Leavenworth nurture
faith and fellowship seven
days a week — often from 6
a.m. to 9 p.m. Activities include worship services, religious education for adults and
children, discipleship breakfasts, teen activities, more
than 50 home Bible studies,
counseling, and other programs.
Three chapels serve religious congregations on Fort
Leavenworth. Pioneer Chapel,
formerly known as Main Post
Chapel, and the new Frontier
Chapel are the hub of religious support to the community throughout the week
with classrooms, chaplain of-
fices, family counseling, and
multiple congregational programs. Pioneer Chapel is at
500 Pope Ave. and Frontier
Chapel is at 625 Thomas Ave.
The historic Memorial
Chapel, 626 Scott Ave., supports the Liturgical Protestant
congregation and military
weddings.
The Family Life Chaplain
provides marriage and family
programs, including active
parenting, communicating in
marriage, coping with stress
and anger, grief, separation
and deployment. Call 6848995 for an appointment with
the Family Life Chaplain in
Pioneer Chapel.
In addition to the Garrison
chapel staff, there are severalstaff chaplains and chaplain
assistants assigned for the religious support needs of staff,
students, soldiers and their
families.
Contact a chaplain after
duty hours by calling the post
Staff Duty Officer at 6844154.
