2005Sportfishing Summit
Uniting the Sportfishing Industry
Welcome to the Ocean Reef Club and the 2005 Sportfishing
Summit, the American Sportfishing Association’s membership
meeting and its premier networking event.
From special sessions to business workshops to association
committee meetings, the 2005 Sportfishing Summit provides a
myriad of opportunities to gain information on the most relevant
issues facing the sportfishing industry as well as practical
knowledge to help you develop and manage your business. We
particularly encourage you to participate in the ASA Committee
meetings in order to gain a better understanding of how the
ASA staff and your colleagues work on your behalf.
The Ocean Reef Club is a great venue for our meeting. Aside
from the sessions and meetings, there are many opportunities
to network with your friends and colleagues during evening
receptions and fishing and golf excursions. We also want to
welcome the spouses who are attending the Summit and we
hope you enjoy the special event that we have planned for you
this year. The ASA and hotel staff will do their best to ensure
your time here is an enjoyable one.
We know that attending the Summit is an investment of time and
resources and we thank you for your support of our association
and the future of sportfishing by being here. We encourage
everyone attending the Summit to take advantage of the
opportunity to share perspectives and experiences in order
to ensure a prosperous future for our industry.

Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Thursday from

Restaurant Recommendations
For those “on your own” meals, Ocean Reef offers a selection
of dining choices, from the causal waterfront Raw Bar, to the
Galley Restaurant, to the nautical-themed Islander. Restaurant
schedules vary by season. For dining reservations and inquiries
call extension 5931.
Fishing
There is great fishing in the waters surrounding Ocean Reef as
well as great diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. Guides, instructors, charter boats and equipment for all
these sports are available through the Club’s Water Activities desk.
All fishing charters leave from the marina in the Fishing Village.
If you pre-registered for fishing, please check the fishing
schedule in the ASA hospitality suite to confirm your booking.
If you reserved a trip directly through the Club, check in with the
Charter desk at extension 5920.
Golf
Ocean Reef offers two, well-maintained 18-hole championship golf
courses. A driving range, two practice greens, a golf clubhouse,
a fully-equipped pro shop that has been recognized as one of
the best in North America and a staff of dedicated professionals
complete the Ocean Reef’s golf offerings.
ASA Golf Scramble
Players for Thursday’s golf scramble should meet at the main lobby
at 4:15 p.m. Please check the sign-up sheet in the hospitality suite
to confirm your place. To book a tee time of your own, call the
clubhouse at extension 5912.
Salon & Spa Services
The Salon at the Ocean Reef Club Fitness Center offers a variety
of spa and personal services. For more information on the salon
& spa please call 367-6506.
Fitness Center
Ocean Reef’s Marina Health Center is equipped with tread mills,
stair machines, bicycles, free weights and Life Fitness Equipment
and other amenities. The Health Center is located adjacent to
the Marina and is complimentary to both members and guests
16 years of age and older.
Transportation
The front desk/bell stand can arrange for a cart to take you anywhere on the property at any time of the day and golf carts are
available for rent. Carts can be reserved by dialing extension 2370.
Dress Requirements
Dining Attire
The more casual restaurants, such as the family-style Galley
the Raw Bar and The Islander, require a collared shirt and dress
trousers for gentlemen (walking shorts during the summer— May
1-October 31) in the evening. The outdoor Palm Court, adjacent
to the pool, requires shoes, shirts and bathing suit cover-ups.
Casual and Sports Attire
Collared shirts are required on our golf courses and tennis courts.
Sporting shorts are acceptable in the appropriate activity areas.
Ocean Reef asks that you remember traditional white attire if your
plans include croquet.
Bathing Attire
Bathing attire requires cover-ups and shoes for any area beyond
the pool. Thong-style suits are inconsistent with the Club’s family
environment and are, therefore, inappropriate.
Unacceptable Attire
Tank tops, tank-style undershirts and jogging tops for men, crop
and jogging tops for women, frayed cut-offs and tattered jeans
are not acceptable attire. Shirts are required at all times in all
public areas other than the pool. Gentlemen are expected to
remove hats while indoors. We also ask that your guests and
children over 12 years of age be attired to the code.
