The charge of the Board is to set policies that will guide the District. Board members serve a term from 4 to 8 years and come from a variety of backgrounds and skills. CREEK CLEAN-UP AND CELEBRATION Saturday, April 18 • 9am-2pm Gather a team and join the county-wide creek clean-up effort. Volunteers will be honored at Carmichael Park (band shell) afterwards from 12:00-2:00pm. Activities include a FREE barbecue, educational and activity booths, Radio Disney and more. CLOTHING RECYCLING DRIVE Accepting Items until April 18 Drop off your used clothing, linens and towels and we’ll recycle them for you! Drop off location is 5750 Grant Avenue in Carmichael, Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:00pm. Saturday, April 18 clothes may be dropped off at the Band Shell from 9:00am-2:00pm. The plots are renewed annually for $55 and on an application basis are available to families, individuals or community organizations. Participants will learn all equipment: Tunnels, Jumps, Tire, A-Frame, Dog Walk and Table. The goal is to master 5 obstacles in a sequence. Obedience skills such as focus and directional control, solid side recall and start line stays will be practiced each week. Students will advance to the next level based on ability. AGILITY DROP-IN Fee: $12/class This is a self-paced play time and drop-in students must share the course with others. BASIC/PUPPY MANNERS & OBEDIENCE R $85, NR $95 The first level exposes new and experienced dog owners to a different approach at teaching the good manners that dogs should have at home and in public. In a group setting owners and dogs will learn to adapt to other humans, dogs and distractions. Students who have completed the first class will move on to advanced levels that include the “3 D’s of Dog Training” and “The Real World” (more interactions with dog-friendly businesses and social environments to help strengthen skills). There are also adult essential skills included which differ from the skills for infant and child care. Emphasis is on the development of Primary and Secondary Essential Skills. Class includes AED training and meets the Pediatric CPR and First Aid and Child Care Provider requirements. Certifications are good for 2 years. The North Room is located off the main hall and is perfect for small meetings up to 10 people. A security deposit is required for all events. The deposit is refundable if the facility is returned to its original condition. Renters are responsible for set-up and clean up. Fees must be received at least two weeks prior to the event. Reservations will be considered final on the 21st day prior to the scheduled use date. No security deposit will be refunded after that date. RAYMOND AND HAZEL NAY MEMORIAL PICNIC AREA is located in the back of the park. It features a covered picnic area with a food preparation area and a large barbecue grill. This shelter can accommodate up to 250 people. Set-up is charged at a per hour rate for most facilities and clean-up is billed at the regular hourly rental rate. DANIEL BISHOP MEMORIAL PAVILION for the Performing Arts (Band Shell) is located in the back of the park. The facility features a covered concrete stage and dance floor surrounded by shade trees. This is a great place for dance recitals, award ceremonies, and memorial services. No live bands allowed unless sponsored by the District. You must provide your own tables and chairs.
