Britpop By Sarah and Francesca A Bit About Britpop Britpop means British popular Music of the 1990s. Some Britpop bands were influenced by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Some typical instruments that would have been used are: vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. Some Britpop bands are: Blur, Suede and Pulp. Who Are Oasis? Oasis were an English band formed in Manchester. The group was made up of Liam Gallagher (vocals and tambourine), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar), Tony McCarroll (drums, percussion) and Noel Gallagher (lead guitar and vocals). They have 8 UK number- one singles and 8 UK number- one albums. It is estimated that they have sold 70 million records world wide. What songs did they sing? On the 29th August 2009, the band spilt up because band mate Noel Gallagher, quit the group because he could not work with his brother Liam Gallagher for any longer. Due to Noel quitting, the band had to cancel the rest of their concerts which were supposed to be Paris, Konstanz and Milan. With Noel quitting, the band never continued without the main songwriter and guitarist. Despite all this, Oasis will still be a memorable, amazing Britpop Band who most people will never forget.
