The Bear With Hair
By Victoria Knoll
Can you imagine..
a bear
who loved his hair
If you pulled his hair
He won’t care
One day he combed it and it all came
out
Then he did nothing but pout, pout,
pout
Now he’s sad
Because his hair looks bad
But it’s his fault for being a bear
Who loved his hair?
Isaac
See all my friends.
Everyone is fun!
We like going on bike rides.

Poetry Anthology Why I Didn’t Clean My Room
Elise
I didn’t clean my room
and my mom will ask me why
I could tell her that the mika spitere was
attacking my room
I could also tell her that the mollon was in my
room too
I could tell her there was an evil cowa and it
mooed and scared me away.
I guess I’ll tell the plain old truth, or at least
I guess I’ll try
I didn’t clean my room
‘cause I forgot—that’s why.

Play with me, and do not scratch me!
Why I Didn’t Clean My Room
Jacob Boone
I didn’t clean my room
and my mom will ask me why.
I could tell her the Milka Spider
attacked my room and slobbered
I could tell her the beegdoo bird laid
eggs.
I could tell her Moogaboo the pig said
oinky oink and scared me out of my
skin.
I guess I’ll tell the plain old truth,
Or at least I guess I’ll try
I didn’t clean my room
‘cause I forgot—that’s why.
Poetry Anthology Five Senses

The ocean is blue
It tastes like salt
It sounds like crashing waves
It smells like dead fish
It looks endless
It makes me feel excited
What To Do On a Playground
Bob Carey
Try to catch the soaring ball.
Try not to let people tag you.
Feel the air on the swings.
Go very fast down the swings.
Those are some of the things that
you
can do on the playground.

Things That Can Fly
Ross McKee
Things that can fly
--Birds, gently soaring
-- Planes, loudly roaring
--Leaves, zooming up and down
--Dust, in little tornados, spinning round
--Clouds, that float effortlessly
--Insects, buzzing busily
--Our Dreams, floating dreamily
Poetry Anthology Pizza looks like a
triangle and
It could also be round.
My food can smell
sausey and cheesey
It can squishy in my
mouth
It can remind me of
other foods
I like this food because
it is good!
-Sarah-
I keep your lunch cold all
morning.
I feel sad when you eat all of
my food without warning.
I feel happy when you take me
home after school,
And pack me again, so I’m full!

I Don’t Understand
Anna McSweeney
I don’t understand
Why people fight
Why people play jokes
Why we cannot be
perfect
But most of all
Why we curse
Why we exercise
Why we can’t solve
mysteries
What I understand most
is
Why we eat
Why we sleep
Why we have different
names
Why we have each other
CAN YOU IMAGINE...

Take the covers off you.
Step, step, step.
Get out of bed and get your clothes on you.
Eat, eat, eat.
Eat your delicious breakfast and drink your milk.
Brush, brush, brush.
Brush your teeth really well for two minutes for nice, pretty, healthy, shiny
teeth.
Poetry Anthology I am a lunch box.
This is what I do:
I keep your lunch cold,
I feel sad when you eat your lunch,
I feel happy when you take me home,
I would change my design to peace signs if I
could,
I would tell my owner to keep me clean,
and not to sing me around,
AND to fill me up AGAIN!

I used to believe in Santa Claus,
but now I know he is my parents.
I know that is them because they told me.
Also I saw them wrapping my presents.
I used to believe in the tooth fairy,
but know I don’t because she is my parents.
I know this because a quarter is too heavy for her.
Also my parents told me.
I used to believe in the Easter Bunny,
but he is fake.
I know this because a bunny can’t go around the
world in one night.
Also my doors are locked.
When I was young I believed everything
now that I’m older I use more common sense
like can reindeer fly? Austin Sykes

Poetry Anthology Erin M.
I used to believe in the tooth fairy,
but now I believe that she is fake.
Fairies aren’t real, my mother told me.
My mother confessed right to my face.
I used to believe in the Easter bunny,
but now he is long gone in my brain.
I found what I got for Easter in my mother’s
closet.
And my grandmother has a shop full of our
presents
I used to believe in monsters,
but now they are scared of me.
I check my closet for 3 years.
My mother told everything.
I used to believe in a lot of things,
but now I see clearly that most are made up and
not really.
I have a new beginning.

I am made to hit the ball,
I feel sad when I hit a homerun,
I feel happy when you strike out,
I would like to change to a baseball glove,
I would tell my owner to “Send me back to
the store and get a glove, Kid!”
So I can rest on the rack!

Don’t think I’m the most stupid
Don’t think I’m the most fragile
I’m not a crybaby
Just because I’m the youngest accept me
for who I am.

I don’t understand
Why we have homework
Why there are 12 months in a year
Why there are 7 days in a week
But most of all
Why people are scared of things
Why students give their teachers
apples
Why math is hard
What I understand most is
Why there is night and day
Why sugar is sweet
Why the stars shine
Poetry Anthology Miracles
By Sidney Persuit
• Clouds, the delicate, perfect and
puffiness
• Sunrise, when the sky starts to turn a
light blue from the new sun
• Giggles, a soft laugh that turns into a
real laugh
• Full Moon, a beautiful giant moon
meaning love
• Friends, playful and passionate
• Trees and leaves, the brown branches
on the trees lonely without a
friend until spring comes and the
leaves come to play
• Bald Eagle, above my head, soaring
through the sky, the mama bird
comforts her babies
• Footprints, leaving behind something
from me that tells I was here
• Freedom, being able to do whatever I
please
Imagination, think whatever I want and
create an idea that can change the
world

Just because I am small
I know I am Amy

Just because I am small -- you
can’t hurt me.

I guess I’ll tell the plain old truth or at least I’ll try.

through the air.
It smells like peppermint.
It looks like white snow.
It makes me feel frozen.
Poetry Anthology Rain
Jenna C.
Rain comes in soft,
It sounds as if a kangaroo is jumping
It pours and pours as if a flood.
The big clouds up above need to cry.
Once again the kangaroo hops
But hops away!
Lightning
Jeevan Pillar
Lightning streaks across
The sky like a running
Cheetah.
It strikes trees, scaring
People out of their
Skin.
Starts in the sky,
Down to the ground
With a tremendous impact
Then disappears without
A trace.

Things to Do When You are Trying to
Go to Sleep:
Five Senses Poem
-Read yourself to sleep
Sofia Cooklin
-Try to make a fish face by suckin on
your cheeks.
The sunset is pink.
-Drink some water.
It tastes like bubble gum.
-Flip on all of your sides on the bed.
It sounds like a flamingo diving into the water
to get its food.
-Get a flashlight and make shadow
puppets using your fingers.
It smells like newly bloomed tulips.
-Stare at your nails.
It lookds like fairy dust glittering in the
moonlight.
-Think of tomorrow.
-Secretly take your phone and play
games on it until you become sleepy.
It makes me feel loved.

Poetry Anthology Why, Who Makes Much of a Miracle?
Smith Johnson
The weather is a miracle because it is cold in March.
Or the lights are a miracle because they let people see in the dark.
Or the sun because when it sets you see it outside.
Or Jackson missing the pail because he would have hurt himself,
Or the shelf because it holds all the books,
And books because they let you learn,
Or the clock because it lets us know what time it is.
