Some important jobs carried out at Central Workshop (CWS) Period: July – August 2016 Machining of Parts and housing for Oil Expelling Machine Dept. of Mechanical Engineering (Dr. Shankar Krishnapillai) Machining of parts for Oil expelling machine was carried out at Machine shop and Welding shop of CWS. CNC machining of Housing for oil expeller Project was carried out at Fitting shop of CWS. CNC Machining of vibration test rig for Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. (Dr. Chandramouli P.) This Eccentric Mechanism is used for generating harmonic motion to test automotive mounts. Various parts are fabricated by CNC turning and milling processes at Machine shop of CWS. Shredder for cutting waste vegetables generated in the Campus for OWZONE The vegetable cutting machine was designed and fabricated by Central Workshop. The machining of parts was carried out in Machine shop, fabrication and assembly carried out in Welding, Plastics and FRP lab. All the parts are made out of SS and provided with 2HP /3Phase Motor, with a reduction gear box 1:30 Insulation Measurement test rig For Central Electronics Centre (CEC) (Dr.C.R.Jeevandoss) This part is made using 3 axis CNC machine by indexing each pocket machining in 3 axis simultaneously at Machine shop of CWS. Rafter Car Parts (Accelerator pedal, Brake pedal, Clutch Pedal, Chain Sprocket) Centre For Innovation (CFI) Speciality: This part is made in 3 axis CNC machine by pocket machining in 3 axis simultaneously. CNC Machining of PP models Department of Engineering Design (Dr. T.Asokan) Speciality: These parts are made in 3 axis CNC machine by indexing for each pocket machining in 3 axis simultaneously. CNC Machining of Laser Diode Mount Department of Electrical Engineering (Dr. Deepa Venkitesh) Speciality: This part is made in 3 axis CNC Vertical Machining Centre. Perforated Disc & Lower Disc Department of Mechanical Engineering (Dr. Srikrishna Sahu) Speciality: This part is made in 3 axis CNC Vertical Machining Centre. Fabrication of Hand Press Mechanism Mechanical Engineering Dr. Sateesh Gedupudi The Clamping frame work is part of the transient thermal measurement setup which is used for simultaneous determination of Thermal conductivity (k) and Thermal diffusivity of a sample material. Two identical samples separated by a heat source is sandwiched between the plates of the frame work and held tightly through the screw mechanism temperature measurement at specific points are then made for a particular time period Manufactured at Carpentry shop of CWS. Two days: Administrative procedure, Career at IITM, medical check up and id card etc., Three Days: Departments/Centre/workshop visit, motivational talk, Lecture on safety practices in lab etc. Director and Registrar addressed the new recruits on 19.08.2016. Welcome address, talks on administration, career at IITM: Lt. Col. Jayakumar, Jt. Registrar, Mr. B. Nagarajan, Jt. Registrar, Mr. D. Ravee, Dy. Registrar, Mrs. K. Vijalakshmi, AR.
