Dear new IB student
You are a coming member of the IB community at Nyborg Gymnasium. Your first year of the
IB Diploma programme is called the 2i. We look forward to welcoming you to the school.
Monday 8 August 2016 at 9:00
The school provides a light lunch on the first day, so you don’t have
to bring your own.
All new students must bring a copy of their birth certificate, and a
copy of their latest school report card/graduation certificate.
We would also like to take your photograph, if you are new to the
school. The school needs a photo of you for your student id-card.
During the first weeks you will receive your books. Nyborg Gymnasium has online access to Gyldendal’s dictionaries, but if you need
dictionaries that translate to other languages than Danish, you need
to acquire you own. Furthermore, you will receive a free version of
the Microsoft Office package, so you don’t need to buy it yourself.
We expect you to have a laptop that you can bring to school. For
practical details, please visit the school's website.
You are expected to bring a suitable calculator for the Mathematics
and Science lessons and at the start of the school year your mathematics teacher will advice you on the purchase of an
appropriate model.
Remember that you can keep up with what is happening at Nyborg
Gymnasium on the school's Facebook page.
If you use public transport to get to school, you can get a train or

bus card at a student discount. Please see the folder and
www.fynbus.dk/ungdomskort. Those of you who have been a Pre-IB
student in 2015-2016 hav to apply again, since the IB Diploma Program is considered a new study after you have completed Pre-IB.
Remember to apply early.
Welcome
Three months after you have turned 18, you may be eligible to apply
for the Danish National Student Grant (SU). You apply for this grant
on www.su.dk. To create a web-account at www.su.dk, you need a
digital signature (NemID) which you can order at www.nemid.nu. It
takes a while to receive the code, so order it well in advance to make
sure you will receive your SU on time. You cannot apply for SU more
than one month in advance. Those of you who have been Pre-IB stu-
dents in 2015-2016 and are eligible for SU, please remember that
you have to reapply for SU, since the IB Diploma Programme is considered a new study after you have completed the Pre-IB year, which is
considered a separate study.
At the beginning of the school year you will receive more information
about the school rules and regulations, as well as other practical information that you need to know to feel at home at Nyborg Gymnasium.
Remeber that you are going on a study trip in spring of 2i, which is
the first IB year. You should expect a cost of approx. DKK 4,500 for
this. You can start saving now.
The school office is closed for the summer from 29. June 2016 at
12:00 to 31. July 2016. All contact to the school during that period
must be received via e-mail ([email protected])
Information for new students can be found on the school’s website.
