JOE BREEZE
MOUNTAIN
Breezer Bikes is the first and oldest mountain bike company, started in 1977 when Joe
Breeze hand-built the first ten modern mountain bikes. These rare bikes can be seen at the
Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, the Shimano Museum in Osaka, Japan, and soon Breezer #1,
the first modern mountain bike, will be on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution
in Washington, DC.
TRANSPORTATION
Breezer is also the original US transportation bike brand, winning more Editors’ Choice
Awards than all other bike companies combined. Breezer transportation bikes represent the
pinnacle of modern transportation bike design and receive the same attention to detail as

1974 Joe Breeze begins building
his own custom-tailored road racing frames.
1976 Repack – the first downhill
off-road race is held on October
21, 1976. Ten riders took part and
all were on repurposed Schwinn
“Klunkerz” from the 1930’s and

1978 Joe builds nine more

D’FUSION TUBING
Breezer D’Fusion tubing strengthens Breezer mountain bikes with a unique D-shape
profile on the top and down tubes near the head-tube intersection and at the top tube-seat
tube intersection. Significant stress travels through these joints, and D’Fusion tubing’s
broader cross-section diffuses that load over a wider area, reducing the risk of fatigue. In
the rear triangle, D’Fusion adds rigidity to the chainstays through a wider cross-section, while
positioning the broad area outboard, to reduce chain suck. D’Fusion tubing
eliminates ride deadening and heavy gussets and lets the tubing do the lightweight
and lively work it was designed to do.
APEX DISC MOUNT
The Breezer Apex Disc Mount puts the rear brake caliper on the
chainstay. The increased diameter of the chainstay provides a huge
increase in torsional rigidity over the smaller seatstay. Not only is
braking performance increased and chatter decreased, but the caliper
is also safely protected within the Apex of the rear triangle - instead
of “hanging off the back” like other bikes on the market.
BREEZE-IN DROPOUTS
Joe Breeze’s iconic Breeze-In dropout offers twice the rigidity and half
the weight of standard dropouts. Breeze-Ins enable the stays to extend
as close as possible to the rear axle, making tubing the rightful star of
the show. Breeze-In dropouts improve shifting, wheel changes, and
of course, the ride quality.

When it comes to town bikes, Joe’s primary goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to enjoy
day-to-day trips on a bicycle. Breezer Town Bikes are great for in-town errands or short commutes. With

school, or pick up groceries at the store or farmer’s market.

Fixed full coverage fenders with mudflaps keep you clean and dry, no matter what
the roads throw at you. Oversized rear rack is strong, lightweight and has a built-in
spring clip perfect for bags and baskets. Chainguard keeps your pants clean without
ever needing to roll them up, and a kickstand and bell are standard, so your ride
will always be civilized.
INTEGRATED LIGHTING SYSTEM
Most models include lights that never need batteries, never need
recharging, and even stay lit when stopped. Magic? Nope! Just
clever capacitors that are quickly charged by new low-resistance
hub dynamos. Top models even turn themselves on as soon as you
