Almost 30 years have gone since TAM AS produced their first mobile shelter and to day the
company is producing almost all types of lightweight mobile and expandable shelters for the
military and professional market.

TAM’s history and background.
General information:
All lightweight shelters are produced in our own everlasting self supporting and insulating
sandwich system which is a guarantee for a trouble free shelter with extreme low life cycle
costs.
Parameters for TAM military hard skin shelters:
Low weight and extreme strength (no stiffeners inside the panels, better insulation)
Good insulation and almost non cold bridges. No absorption of humidity.
Very low life cycle cost

The shelter is furnished with needed
hardware and ready to use for conferences.
Much equipment are “of the shelf or
industrial type” and mounted on shock
absorbers to avoid damage during
transport.
In the secured compartment there are
several alternatives for connecting to the
outside world.
Due to the security level inside the shelter
and operation in all clomatic zones the heating, cooling and ventilation system is special
made.
The complete shelter has passed all military and civil tests to obtain highest security level.
72 CM shelter Container Multifunction expandable shelter ISO 20’ 1C
The 72 CM expandable shelter is designed with focus on low weight to make it possible to
transport in C-130 and rapid deployment. The shelter is self supporting with integrated tunnel
mounted diesel generator, separate heating, cooling, ventilation and dehumidifier to make the
shelter comfortable in all climatic zones.
All 72 CM shelters have a basic furniture and installation making it possible to operate as a
command post to a work shop. The shelter is fully operating in not expanded position and
during transport it can be used for cargo.
The 72 CM shelter type is designed for rapid deployment world wide. An integrated tunnel
mounted silent diesel generator provides needed power to run all functions in climatic zone
A1 to C2 and at high altitude.
The tunnel generator is mounted on slides for easy access for service and maintenance. The
generator have remote control and possibility to monitor a lot of alternatives in addition to all
the generators functions.
The shelter is furbished with separate cooling, heating and ventilation systems to ensure safe
operation in extreme heat as well as cold conditions. A separate dehumidifier is also included.

The shelter is furnished with combine working
bench, wardrobes, communication, toolboxes
and safe. The flexible installation makes the
shelter to a multi function working place from
maintenance and repair to command and control.
The shelter can be expanded by 2 men within
minutes. The shelter is fully operating when not
expanded. The expandable part do not need any
additional support when expanded.
As all TAM military lightweight shelters the 72 CM is produced in TAM’s high quality selfsupporting glued sandwich panels.

The lightweight shelter with removable
roof is an other version in the shelter type
“72 family”. This shelter is also selfsupporting both during transport and
deployed.
The shelter fulfil ISO 1496 1C 20 and CSC
certificate is issued by Germanischer
Lloyd.
The shelters are designed for washing and desalination of
parachutes. Inside there are a large wash tubs with several
compartments and special lightweight handling bags are
made for carefully handling the parachutes between the
tubs.
The shelters are supplied
with silent running water
cooled diesel generator
230 VAC for heating, ventilation and cooling and a separate
24 V DC system is also available.
The shelters are also one side expandable of folding type
and expands within a few minutes by two men.

The Lightweight 69 TH shelter
is designed and fulfil
requirements according to
STANAG 2413 hook lift system
and the shelter meet the
measurements according to ISO
1496 1C 20
At the aft end there is an
expandable part which is used
as main entrance. This separate
room is also used as wardrobe etc. before entering the controlled and clean operator room.
Inside the shelter there are separate compartments
and in front there is a tunnel for the silent running
12 KVA diesel generator.
The generator is mounted on slides for easy service
and maintenance.
To assure safe
operation the
shelter has a
double HVAC
system. Each
system fulfils the requirements according to STANAG 2895
climatic zone A1-C1.
The shelters meet most relevant MIL-STD, Stanag-, DINand ISO standards.
The operation room is prepared for monitors
and other communication systems.

This lightweightshelter fulfil
requirements according to ISO 1496
1D 10 ft. container and they are
approved by DnV and Thales.
The shelter is expandable of folding
type and expands manually within
minutes by 2 men. When expanded
the room is the main entrance and is a
wardrobe before entering the secured
operator room.
The shelters are supplied with silent water cooled
tunnel mounted diesel generator mounted on slides
for easy access and service.
The shelter has a HVAC systems which fulfil the
requirements according to STANAG 2895 climatic
zone A1-C1.
The shelters meet most relevant MIL-STD, Stanag-,
DINand ISO standards.
To obtain as much possible storage room
every free space has been used. All needed
tools and accessories for deployment have
access from outside.
The telescopic masts have transport position on the
roof and they have a quick mounting to the top and
bottom corner castings on the shelter.
Foldable steps and handrail are fitted to the
expandable section to give easy and safe access to
the antiskid roof.

The expandable shelter is a very compact solution providing large capacity when deployed.
63 KG shelter S-250 communication shelter for HMMWV
This shelter type is special designed to fit
military vehicle HMMWV - M1113 shelter
carrier with special focus extreme hot climate
and climatic zone A1 according to STANAG
2985 is not good enough.
These shelters have been in service for
several years without any problems.
The shelter is supplied with a tunnel mounted
silent running diesel generator mounted on slides
for easy access and maintenance.
The 230 VAC generator is monitored and
operated from inside the shelter. External power
supply can also be connected.
Inside the comfortable cooled shelter there is good
working condition and very low sound level.
Telescopic masts are mounted on the roof
and are easy to erect just tilting on the
permanent mounted mast brackets.
The signal input output panel have easy access at the aft.
The shelter has lifting lugs on top suitable for helicopter
transport and can be used on ground without the vehicle. The complete lightweight shelter is
produced in self supporting glued and insulating sandwich panels suitable for high
temperatures.

TAM’s self-supporting high quality glued sandwich system.
TAM AS is the oldest company in Norway producing high quality vacuum bonded sandwich
panels.
There are different types of sandwich materials on the marked but to obtain a long lasting self
supporting sandwich and shielding there are only a few option. In all our sandwich shelter we
only use high quality core material and normally aluminium skin inside and outside. The
panels are produced and vacuum bonded to obtain excellent panels.
To obtain the wanted mechanical properties we use different core materials and thickness as
well as thickness mechanical property in the inside and outside skin.
Some parts on a shelter might have high stress loads or stand larger G-forces. This is also
taken care of when designing the shelter and panels and the panels are produced as
individuals.
A quality bonded sandwich vacuum bonded panel will have the following properties:
No terminal bridges and good insulation (no stiffeners inside the panels)
The panels are ever lasting - more then 25 years.
The panels do NOT absorb any humidity and gives life to fungous etc.
The panels have high strength and low weight according to the shelter design with safety
factor.

TAM’s history and background.
In the year 2011 TAM AS is 30 years old.
Trough the years we have designed and produced wide range of lightweight military shelters.
The company is situated at Bardufoss and we have both Army, Air force, Navy and NODECA
in our neighbourhood.
The close collaboration during design and production with the end user of many shelter
solutions have given us great experience, thanks to the feed back. We have also been allowed
to participated in the fields and as observers we have discovered that smaller details are
important to the operators.
Our first developed military shelter, a communication module came in serial production in
1985.

Today 25 years later all shelters are in good health with a brush up with outside paint and new
equipment. Several of these shelters are in service abroad and the shelter type is still in
production.
Basic shelter 1985
Deployed in NATO operations many years later
Due to the low weight and high quality the same shelter type is used for different civilian
companies. The shelters are an unmanned power station with different equipment for
continuous monitoring
TAM AS is often used as a trouble shooter making the “impossible” possible, usually with
focus to reduce time to deploy and low weight. Several new shelter solutions have been born
this way.
Today TAM has a wide range of shelter type from small once for snowmobile and ATV’s
sledges up to more almost 4 times expandable ISO 20’ shelter with CSC certificates for safe
handling and transport.
The shelters are furnished with all kinds of equipment to meet most relevant military and civil
standards.
TAM never supply communication hardware since our main customers are international
communication system suppliers.
All our shelter systems are designed in lightweight, self-supporting, glued sandwich system
and produced by TAM and all designs are our property.

On some occasions the shelters with accessories are flat packed and shipped in containers to a
cooperating company in GCC country. The company is trained by us and the assembled,
furnishing and all other installations are done by well educated people and under our guidance
and control.
