It's still not the most obvious beachholiday destination, but it soon will be. It's becoming particularly popular among serious divers, who come for the incredible underwater life, unspoilt coral gardens with rainbowbright fish, green sea turtles and dugongs. In Bicol you can swim with the biggest fish in the world, the whale shark. While fishfans of a different nature can go deepsea fishing in one of the deepest trenches in the oceans, not far from the littleknown island of Siargao. The archipelago of Palawan ticks all the boxes: palmfringed whitepowder beaches, crystalclear turquoise waters, natural lagoons for wild swimming on Miniloc Island all of it protected by UNESCO. Its Bacuit Bay is something like Halong Bay in Vietnam, only without all the tourists for the time being, at least. There are just a handful of resorts, which are tasteful and deliberately lowkey. Two of the newest are Ariara Island and El Nido Pangulasian Island, a privateisland resort with palmthatched villas, a spa, its own dive centre, and sea views to melt the heart. BEST TIME TO VISIT:Luckily, the weather in the Philippines does not reach a point of extreme hot or extreme cold temperatures, so you can easily adapt to the tropical weather. The best time to go is between November and May. For most areas of the Philippines, the best time to visit may be December to May. However, you should keep in mind that seasons do not always follow the standard pattern. Not only can the start and end of the rainy season vary from year to year, but different regions of the Philippines can experience different seasonal patterns. For example, in much of the eastern part of the Philippines (Eastern Mindanao, Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar and Southeast Luzon), the seasons are usually reversed, so it is rainy from December to March and dry during the rainy season elsewhere in the country. And in some parts of the country, like Cebu, the weather tends to be moderate in all seasons. ORGANIZED BY: “HICORD” A Division of “ HI DESTINATION MANAGEMENT PVT.
