CHARLESTOWN MOTHERS ASSOCIATION Gala 2014 Saturday, November 8th DINNER, DANCING, SILENT AUCTION KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, CHARLESTOWN Schedule of Events Cocktail Reception 7:00 pm Food Stations 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm Dessert, Dancing & Fun 9:30 pm –12:00 am The silent auction will be closing out in two stages: 9:15pm Group 1 Closes | 9:45pm Group 2 Closes Thank You Dear Charlestown Neighbors & Friends: We have the honor of being co-presidents of the CMA, and are proud to support our Charlestown neighborhood with our Board of Directors and countless volunteers who all work tireless on the many programs, activities and donations that the CMA was able to make over the past year. Thanks to the generosity of our membership and our sponsors, these donations have enabled the CMA to support our Charlestown Community and the nearly 1200 families in our membership. The CMA continues to be a platform for parents to organize and have their voice heard in order to impact positive change in our neighborhood. We also work closely with our elected officials and truly appreciate all of their support. The CMA has spent over $10,000 on Free Community events throughout the year in Charlestown, including Touch-a-Truck Day, Halloween, Patriot’s Day Celebration, Spring Egg Hunt, Family Skating Night, Summer Picnics and Concerts in the Park. In addition, we have provided toys for our parks such as Doherty, Union Street and Navy Yard. We extended $9000 of College Scholarships to amazing young Charlestown women and men and $2000 of Summer Camp Scholarships to Charlestown’s younger residents. The CMA is also proud to support a number of community organizations and events over the past year, Harvest on Vine, The Charlestown Community Center, Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning Center, Skating to Success, The Kennedy Center, Unity Day, CHAD, The Charlestown Boys and Girls Club, Charlestown Working Theatre, our local schools’ programs and many others. The monies we raise go directly back to our community—helping to make Charlestown one of the most sought after neighborhoods for families to live in the City of Boston. The CMA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run exclusively by unpaid volunteers dedicated to strengthening the community bonds in our Charlestown neighborhood and ensuring that Charlestown remains a vibrant and safe community to raise children. Even with just our one square mile of Charlestown—we are one of the largest community mothers associations in the country. And, we have grown steadily every year as parents are choosing to remain in our Charlestown Community to raise their families! The CMA remains free to join for those families in Charlestown. We welcome parents (Dads, too!!) who would like to get involved planning and executing our events and hope you will not hesitate to reach out to us to get involved. Finally, we cannot thank the CMA Board Members enough. These women happily spend much of their time, volunteering their time for our Community; taking time away from their own children, partners and day jobs to do so: Laura Carroll, Suzanne Crowther, Gina Consylman (Treasurer), Nicole Day, Jessica DeRoeve, Karen Ferguson, Leigh Hurd (former President), Bridget Nyhan, Jennifer Roycroft Pires, Lynne Soutter, Deanna Sutton (Secretary). We look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors at the Gala!
