Over the years AO has designed and manufactured sunglasses to support U.S. servicemen around the world through two

The Bollé story begins in the small town of Oyonnax, France in 1888.

Randolph Engineering, Inc. was formed in 1972 by two Polish
Immigrants who escaped the Nazis in World War II and after the war
settled in the Boston area.
After completing some additional education they worked for the
American Optical Company and then later started Randolph
Engineering, Inc. in 1972 to manufacture equipment to sell to
manufacturers of eyewear frames.
Together they designed and built most of the machinery used in the
plant, working from 7am in the morning until 9pm at night most
days.
The partners quickly realized that the manufacturers who were
buying their equipment were not making optical frames and pilot
sunglasses frames to the quality of standards they believed could be
achieved.
The Randolph Engineering Aviator is the flagship product for
the company and has set the standard for world-class quality.
