This year, the Chicago Design Summit on September 14th is bigger than ever, with more than
30 participating boutiques featuring over 30 complimentary programs, CEU seminars and events,
11 strategic media partners and over a dozen well-respected editors, along with 8 open houses,
7 new showrooms and 29 new and featured product debuts that will keep you busy and engaged
from breakfast to happy hour.
The LuxeHome showrooms will play host to industry luminaries, editors from the nation’s top shelter

Mart Hall of Fame.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
M
ick De Giulio has been creating
kitchens for distinctive
residences throughout the
United States and abroad for
over 40 years. He founded his
company, de Giulio kitchen design, in Wilmette,
Illinois in 1984, and opened his studio at LuxeHome
in 2003. In 2005, he was recognized by Kitchen
and Bath Business magazine as one of the 50 most
influential people in the kitchen and bath industry
over the last 50 years.
Mick has designed several product lines
for German kitchen manufacturer SieMatic
Corporation, including the Hudson Valley line
which was selected for the kitchen at Washington
D.C.’s historic presidential guest home, Blair House.
Mick was commissioned by Kallista (a Kohler
company) to design a collection of sinks, and his
design of the Multiere sink was named Best of Year
by Interior Design magazine in 2011.
He has completed several notable commercial
projects, including the test and demonstration
kitchens for the Chicago Tribune, Sub-Zero
and Wolf, and Meredith Corporation (Better
Homes and Gardens magazine). He designed the
kitchens at the Ritz Carlton Residences -- a luxury
condominium building on Chicago’s Magnificent
Mile, the Kitchen of the Year for House Beautiful
magazine -- showcased
in New York’s Rockefeller
Center in 2012, and this
year, a 10,000-square
foot installation at Abt
Electronics in Glenview,
Illinois.
De Giulio’s work has
been extensively featured
internationally in leading
design publications
including Traditional Home, House Beautiful,
Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Architecktur
& Wohnen, and Ottagano, and he is the author of
two books on kitchen design. In the foreword to
De Giulio’s book, Kitchen Centric, Christopher G.
Kennedy wrote, “Fostering creativity and beauty
amid structure, (Mick De Giulio) helped form the
philosophy that homes – particularly kitchens –
are not only where family is defined, but also the
place where we determine the future of our larger
community.”

arcy Bonner, AIA, is the founding
principal of Darcy Bonner &
Associates LLC and Mattaliano.
He was born in Dallas, Texas
and received a Bachelor of
Architecture & Masters from Tulane University
in 1976 and a Masters of Architecture from the
University of Illinois in Chicago in 1980.
Bonner opened his Architectural and Interior
Design office in 1980 and began his furniture line,
Mattaliano, in 1985 with showrooms in New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Denver,
Santa Fe, San Francisco and Toronto. Mattaliano
furnishings have been installed in multiple
residential and commercial spaces including The
Obama White House, Four Season Hotels, Wynn
Las Vegas and Neiman Marcus.
Bonner was the winner of the International
Chair Competition(1976) with his Wearable Chair
and has lectured at the Architectural League of

Distinguished Building & Interior Architecture
Awards from the AIA and Institute of Classical
Architecture & Art. His work can be found in
major cities throughout the United States as well as
internationally.
Darcy has been registered in states throughout
the U.S. including Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin,
Maine, Rhode Island, New York, New Hampshire,
Kansas, Florida and Texas.
Darcy resides in Chicago with his wife, Marta,
and is the proud father of his 2 sons and daughter.

Branca learned at an early age that
classical beauty is meant to be
intermingled with everyday life. She
believes that living well also involves
comfort, elegance and a dose of humor – whether
it’s a beach house in the islands, a Colorado ranch,
a first home for a young family or a sophisticated
New York apartment.
Alessandra founded her design firm over 25
years ago and today is widely known for fusing
the chic workmanship of a couturier with energy
and practicality in all she designs. In addition to
her residential work, Alessandra has embraced
commercial projects ranging from clubs to
restaurants to hotel suites. She has developed
fabric, furniture and tabletop collections as well.

her awards and honors

im Loewenberg serves as Co-CEO
and Partner of Magellan Development
Group, one of Chicago’s leading
residential developers. Magellan
develops environmentally-sensitive
urban communities throughout the United States
that combine innovative architectural design with
high-quality construction. Although headquartered
in Chicago, Magellan is developing projects
throughout the country including new residential
towers in Miami, Minneapolis and Nashville.
Loewenberg received a Bachelor of Architecture
degree from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in 1957, and first established himself in
the real estate industry by developing and designing
a host of high-rise residential and mixed-use
apartment buildings along Lake Shore Drive. He
has developed more than 35,000 residential units
and over 500,000 square feet of commercial space
throughout his career. Magellan Development
Group and its affiliates have successfully financed
more than $3 billion of residential, mixed-use and
commercial projects.
Loewenberg is part of the team that is energizing
and creating new communities. Chicago’s River
North and the Gold Coast neighborhoods are
thriving today because of the impact of his
developments. His vision for Lakeshore East, a
master-planned 28-acre site situated where the
Chicago River intersects with Lake Michigan, is
transforming Chicago’s downtown area. A six-acre
park serves as the centerpiece of this award winning

AIA Planned Community Award and the FIABCI
Prix d’ Excellence Award by the International
Real Estate Federation. The Aqua tower designed
by Studio Gang Architects has won numerous
international design awards including AIA
awards and the prestigious International Emporis
Skyscraper of the Year Award. The 95-story Wanda
Vista Tower also designed by Studio Gang, is
currently in the planning stages and destined to
be a new Chicago landmark as the third tallest
building in the city. Project completion is projected
in 2020.
Loewenberg has been involved in numerous
civic and professional organizations including
the Chicago Association of Realtors, Urban
Land Institute – Multi-Family Housing Council,
American Institute of Architects National Housing

LEMA Yard Sofa
This piece re-interprets the typical creativity of the industrial
design of the ‘60s. It was born in fact from the intention
to find a meeting point between different systems: padded
volumes are integrated to counters, shelves, tables and
containers that matched in various configurations, create
countless multi-functional compositions.

Exquisite Surfaces’ Zuni Zebra flooring with Malmo wall tiles
from The Native Tile Collection is a collaboration between
Exquisite Surfaces and Commune Design. Inspired by
Scandinavian and Native American textile patterns.
FANTINI, Suite 163
Icona Classic A timeless collection,“a kind of ‘pass-key’, with a small touch
of memory, but not too extreme, still very contemporary and
modern, with attention devoted to ergonomics and endowed
with a certain sensuality”. Functionality, durability and
comfort have been the priorities of the project, expressed
with a calm aesthetic quality that follows neither trends
nor fashions. It is a reinterpretation of the classic tap, with
a subtle and refined interplay of proportions. Proposed in
various versions, from chrome to Nickel PVD, more classic, to
Matte Gun Metal PVD or Brushed Copper PVD, more modern,
industrial, intentionally rougher and more tactile.
Venezia New Crystal Handles
Style, tradition, elegance, refinement, luxury: the Venezia
series evokes these and other memories with its
sophisticated Murano glass handles and the most stately
colours of this age old story, white, black and blue. To this
story we add new elements today, with the project for two
handles of different shapes: the first is a transparent glass
disk, solid and with faceted edges, allowing a glimpse of the
serigraphy on the base with a surprising three-dimensional
effect; the second is a tapered, horizontal form, lever-shaped,
in black or chromed metal.

The Galley Tap
The Galley Tap was designed and engineered specifically
for The Galley Workstation. It has a 27” pull-out spray with
a swivel spout for optimal cleaning, rinsing and washing.
The 11” pot fill height makes it easy for pots to be filled
on a Drain Rack or Cutting Board in the Workstation. The
360° swivel spout lends itself to flexibility of placement
along with maximizing Workstation serve, entertain and
work space. The Galley Tap’s 11” projection hits the center
of The Galley Workstation and the ergonomic handles and
spout with ergonomic slide switch make The Tap easy and
comfortable to use. Available in Brushed, Polished or Black

Bagués
Since 1860, Baguès, has been located in the center of Paris
and specializes in the creation of luxury lighting. Early on, it
became the emblem of French savoir-faire in lighting and
wrought-iron work,along with French craftsmanship, which
is highly valued internationally. The range of lighting varies
in style from the elegant curved pieces in their delicate
sconces and chandeliers to the clean lines of pieces from
the 1927 series.

NEFF – Beautiful Living. Swing by the NEFF of Chicago
showroom to see our new line of NEFF Euro-laminates, like

Bocconi University. Designed and made in Italy, the form

The Motus project by Scavolini, designed by Vittore Niolu,
brings together function and entertainment. Marks of
distinction include the asymmetric opening of the door
with no handle, the unique interpretation of the glass door,
the geometry of the shaped drawer, the new island and
peninsula units; and the sophisticated chromatic range of
the elements (gloss and matt lacquer, or melamine with
matching finishes) proposed in a line dedicated to today’s
most popular colours.

The Shade Store has had a busy year introducing new
materials to its exclusive line of more than 950 options.
Newly added to the line are Lannister Sheers and Sheer

new 24” dishwasher to its world-renowned ‘50s Style line.
Available in four colors, SMEG’s ‘50s Retro Style dishwasher,
STFAB, combines iconic mid-century style with modern
features, including interior elements finished to match the
color of the exterior, a full-size tub, a hidden stainless steel
electronic control panel, a self-balancing door, a sanitation
setting along with a delay timer (up to nine hours), an orbital
wash system which ensures consistently-clean dishes, and
ten wash cycles including a setting for crystal washing.
Contemporary living trends call for compact, shared spaces
that are bright and open, freely configured interiors with

a new 30” Wide Wine unit with refrigeration drawers. This
unit is also dual zoned, holds 86 bottles with an additional 4
cubic feet of refrigeration storage.
