SHOPPING IN MISSOURI
FIND A PRESCRIPTION FOR RETAIL THERAPY IN MISSOURI
Missouri’s shopping options offer something for every taste and budget, whether you’re looking for a new ensemble or simply
the right accessory to complement your favorite outfit. Missouri has well-known names, from Saks Fifth Avenue to Michael Kors,
along with unique, hometown boutiques. Yes, it’s easy to find your inner fashionista in Missouri.
More information on shopping options in Missouri can be found on VisitMO.com, the official website for the Missouri Division of
Tourism. Go to VisitMO.com/things-to-do/shopping for details.
Among the great shopping destinations in Missouri is Kansas City, home to venues such as
Country Club Plaza and Zona Rosa. Country Club Plaza, located about
10 minutes south of downtown Kansas City, is a 15-block retail
district offering more than 150 shops and dining options. While
walking the streets of The Plaza, you find clothing by designers
such as Betsey Johnson and Giorgio Armani, jewelry from
Pandora, and the latest handbag styles at Coach.
If you work up an appetite while shopping, there are dozens of
places to find a terrific meal or a simple snack to help keep your
energy up. Popular spots are Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, known
for fine steaks and fresh seafood, and The Melting Pot, where
everything is better with their variety of incredible dipping sauces.
For a true taste of Kansas City, known as one of the country’s great
destinations for barbecue, try Fiorella’s Jack Stack.
If you just want a quick bite, enjoy a bag of Topsy’s famous popcorn,
or head to The Cheesecake Factory, which offers more than 50
incredible cheesecake choices; the Reese’s Peanut Butter
Chocolate Cake Cheesecake sounds exceptional!
In North Kansas City, Zona Rosa has more than 75 shops and
restaurants, venues to enjoy family activities and a comedy club.
Although it’s just 15 minutes north of downtown Kansas City, Zona
Rosa has a village-esque feel. Plus, there’s ample free parking, which
means you can spend more money shopping.

The Blue St
Zona Rosa’s clothing options include retailers such as Coldwater
Creek, Charlotte Russe, Lane Bryant and Marshall’s, while shops such as Charming Charlie and Claire’s have your accessory
needs covered. Shopping with the kids? Enjoy the creative choices available at Build-A-Bear Workshop, and be wowed at Maze
Craze while working through mirror and laser mazes.
For a great meal, try Stone Canyon Pizza, where the diverse offerings make for an unforgettable meal.
Across Missouri, in St. Louis, the shopping options are, in a word, exceptional. Shopping centers such as Saint Louis Galleria offer
variety and big-name retailers, while neighborhoods such as the Central West End feature unique boutiques and one-of-a-kind
creations. Those who prefer high-end retailers will enjoy time at Plaza Frontenac, home of St. Louis’ only Saks Fifth Avenue.
Saint Louis Galleria features more than 100 shops from which to choose and is one of the top destinations for shoppers in the
more on the back...
St. Louis area. Among the choices for ladies are Ann Taylor, Arden B., Lane Bryant and New York and Co. Looking for
menswear? Try Brooks Brothers, Lacoste and Eddie Bauer. The Galleria also is home to several eateries and the Galleria 6
Cinema, which, among its concessions offers a St. Louis favorite, Ted Drewes frozen custard.
The trendy Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis features several specialty shops for those looking for something truly
unique. Keep your wardrobe updated with stops at Boutique 83, Ivy Hill and Mary Jane’s – especially if you’re in the mood for
new shoes. Another exciting shop in the Central West End is 10denza – translated from Italian, tendenza means “trending.”
Inside 10denza you find clothing and accessories, as well as tech gear, books and music.
At Plaza Frontenac, enjoy one of Missouri’s upscale shopping
experiences with a visit to Saks Fifth Avenue or Missouri’s only
Neiman Marcus location; just two of the 40 specialty shops found at
Plaza Frontenac. Other popular stops include kate spade new york,
Louis Vuitton, and Coach. Plaza Frontenac also features fine dining
options including Cardwell’s at the Plaza and Fleming’s Prime
Steakhouse and Wine Bar.
Bass Pro Shop
Another great shopping destination in Missouri is Springfield, the
state’s third-largest city and home to abundant shopping choices. You
can find the latest fashion trends and apparel at shops along South
Avenue, Commercial Street (a retail area known as C-Street) and
Park Central Square. Some of the premier shopping spots downtown
include 5 Pound Apparel, a humanitarian apparel shop, and Fresh
Gallery, which showcases local and regional artists’ works; on C-Street,
enjoy a sweet treat at Askinosie Chocolate. Of course, no shopping trip
to Springfield would be complete without visiting the mammoth Bass
Pro Shops Outdoor World; even if you’re not an outdoor enthusiast,
you’ll be impressed.
Two more Missouri destinations primarily known for attractions not related to shopping also offer great excuses to indulge in
retail therapy. In central Missouri, the Lake of the Ozarks area offers great options with retailers along the famous Bagnell Dam
Strip, along with the 100-plus shops at the Osage Beach Premium Outlets shopping center. And Branson, known as the “Live
Music Show Capital of the World,” has outstanding choices, whether it’s the retailers on Branson Landing, or places such as the
Tanger Outlets and Shoppes at Branson Meadows.
And when it comes to shopping in Missouri, don’t forget Columbia, home of the
University of Missouri Tigers. More than 100 unique shops, including Bluestem
Missouri Crafts, Absolute Vintage and Swank Boutique, are in The District, a
vibrant shopping, arts and entertainment section of Columbia. Take a break
from shopping at one of the sidewalk cafes or restaurants; popular stops include
Flat Branch Pub and Brewing Company and Bleu Restaurant and Wine Bar.
In the southeast Missouri city of Cape Girardeau, enjoy a shopping trip with
stops at West Park Mall, home to dozens of stores, including American Eagle,
Charlotte Russe, Macy’s and Old Navy. While you’re in Cape Girardeau, be sure
to visit the historic downtown area, which is home to a variety of art and artisan
galleries, plus a unique shopping experience at Annie Laurie’s Antiques. In
addition to antiques, the showroom at Annie Laurie’s offers jewelry, vintage
clothing and collectibles.
These are just some of the shopping options found in Missouri; the Show-Me
State truly has something to show you when it comes to shopping. To learn
more about shopping choices in Missouri, log on to VisitMO.com, keyword
