Leaving School Without Permission Contact: J. Tucci (833-3300 ext. 3326) Leaving campus without a checkout (dismissal) slip Parents, please be advised that students who leave school grounds without a checkout (dismissal) slip will receive administrative disciplinary action. We have had an increase in the number of students leaving school grounds because “they thought their parent had called to check them out.” Students that leave campus without following proper checkout procedure are considered to be skipping. If a student has been checked out, following proper check out procedures, the student will receive a checkout (dismissal) slip and is then permitted to leave school grounds. Nurse Linda Request Contact: Nurse Linda (833-3300 ext. 3324) MEDICATION PICK-UP PROCEDURE No medication can be sent home with a student. Please plan to pick-up any medicine from my office the last week of school. For seniors please pick up medications by Friday, May 27th. Please remember that underclassmen get out of school at 11:30 am on the following days: May 31st, June 1st, and 2nd. If medications have not been picked-up by Thursday morning, June 2nd, I will be disposing of them properly. I appreciate every one following our guidelines. Please have a wonderful summer. Yearbook Contact: S. Teare (833-3300 ext. 2151 or [email protected]) It’s still not too late to order your 2016 Valhalla yearbook and save. The predelivery price is $90.00. Once they arrive, the price is $100.00. Yearbooks are expected to be delivered on June 3rd. Since this is after school is out, we have ordered autograph pages that can be inserted in the book once it arrives. Students will still be able to get those all-important signatures and messages from friends and teachers. A robo-call will go out once the books are here and ready for distribution. The yearbook staff shares your disappointment and apologizes for the delay. Class of 2017 Contact: S. Teare (833-3300 ext. 2151 or [email protected]) It’s your turn! Summer senior portrait sessions are June 14th, 15th, and 16th in the media center. A second session is July 19th, 20th, and 21st. Current juniors may sign up for an appointment in Room 447 (between Mrs. Morgan and Mr. Markoch) or in the media center during 5th period, before the last day of school. Other appointments will be assigned alphabetically; however, if the time is not convenient, the student may change it. You should receive an appointment card in the mail. Once school begins, a make-up day is scheduled for September 21st. Please make every effort to have your portraits taken during the summer. You will receive the proofs quickly and you will have a more relaxed atmosphere to make sure you look your best. Jim Owen is our official school photographer and only the formal senior portraits provided by Jim Owen will be used in the senior section of the 2017 yearbook. School Day Photographs Contact: S. Teare (833-3300 ext. 2151 or [email protected]) School day photographs for Classes 2018, 2019 and 2020 will be September 20th with make-ups on October 27th. These dates are for underclassmen only. FWBHS Balloon Campaign Contact: A. Daniels (833-3300 ext. 1230 or [email protected]) Did you know that by 2050 the ocean is expected to be equal parts plastic to fish? Ms. Daniels’ Marine Science Honors classes have taken initiative to lead a campaign to prevent the release of balloons at graduation this year and improve our recycling program. The goal of the balloon campaign is to raise awareness of marine debris and plastics in our ocean, especially the harmful impact that balloon pollution has on marine wildlife. We have secured an alternative to balloon release through Emerald Coast Smile Clouds with a significant discount, and we will be raising funds to pay for the flogo rental and to improve our school recycling program. How can you participate? There are donation bins found throughout the school campus. Funds will go towards the flogo machines for graduation and remaining funds will be allocated to improvements in our school recycling program. Visit our social media sites and help spread the word on the harm of plastics in the ocean. o Twitter: @FWBCampaign o Facebook: FWBHS Balloon Campaign 2016 o Instagram: #flogo4graduation Visit the following site for more information about the harm that balloons cause in the environment o http://balloonsblow.org/ Visit the following site for more information on the flogos that will be at graduation o http://www.emeraldcoastflogos.com/about.html Senior News Senior Breakfast 2016 Contact: N. More Graduation Information: What to wear under the graduation gown? Gentlemen – wear dark, dress trousers (no jeans), dark shoes with socks, white or light collared shirt, and a tie. Absolutely no shorts, flip flops, or tennis shoes. Ladies – wear a dress that does not hang below the hem of the gown. White or light colored shoes look best with the white gowns. Darker shoes look better with the red gowns. Girls MAY NOT wear flip flops or high, spiked heels. Flat shoes or wedges work best for walking on the turf. No jewelry, flowers, or anything not provided by the school should be attached or worn over or on the gown. We want the ceremony to be a dignified event. Students will not be allowed to bring silly string or foam or anything to be sprayed or squirted on each other. Beach balls will not be permitted. It is rude for the students to toss these while their peers are speaking. Please make sure that your child understands the proper decorum for this ceremony. Administrators and faculty will be checking for these items and students will be removed from the line if we find them with aerosol cans or materials of any kind that will disrupt or create an undesirable atmosphere.
